It is not recommended to do business with Man Fook Jewellery.

In May 2014 I bought a white gold bracelet with 6 brilliant-cut diamonds in Manfook Jewerlry's business, 430 Hennessy Rd. Causerway Bay.

Already after 1 ½ months the bracelet broke because of a bad soldering. With trouble I got in touch with Mr. Timothy Lai from Manfook headquarters as desired photo of the damage and a copy to purchase and certificate which I submit per. email.

Mr. Timothy Lai wrote several days later and asked for the bracelet sent to HKG for examination and repair. I answered the same day Mr. Lai's email and explained that it would be a very bad option to send the bracelet to HKG because when I received it back would have to pay about 14,000 HK dollars in customs duties and import VAT. I therefore asked Mr. Lai to come up with a better solution.

Mr. Lai shone by not answering my mail, so I went to a renowned jeweler in Denmark to get the bracelet repaired. This repair cost HK $ 2,400. I sent Mr. Lai a copy of the receipt of the repair and e-mail address, etc. the Danish jeweler so you could confirm the repair and subsequent transfer 2,400 HK $ for me.

Finally wrote Mr. Lai to me again and was now very surprised repair was performed in Denmark. I explained to him the thought that he had chosen to ignore my mail to find another solution and asked him to transfer the money to me. Mr. Lai replied back that it would be decided in Manfook's Executive Committee and I would get responses by 30 October.

Since it was October 30, there was no response from Mr. Lai and Manfook why I am on the same day wrote to them and asked me answers. I got the answer 2 days later!

Mr. Lai deeply regretted but he had an answer as he wrote "you will not like the answer." Manfook does not cover repairs subsided abroad but will send you "a very nice gift."

I replied Mr. Lai that I could not under any circumstances accept such a decision since I had explained to him and Manfook that it will cost 14,000 HK dollars in customs duties and import VAT to get my bracelet back to Denmark and of course I was not interested in and pay this large amount and I not assumed to Manfook would pay this huge amount. At the same time, I explained to him that I did not want his "very fine gift" which I also had to pay customs duty and import VAT for. I asked to be contacted his superiors so we could have solved the problem.

Manfook chose not to answer back and I have never been contacted by Mr. Lai's boss so that's why I wrote once again to Mr. Lai and Manfook to get them to answer me. I asked this time to the company's CEO contacted me ... this is not done.

I must say that the way a large and "accredited" business as Manfook select and treat a customer and quite deliberately choose to ignore a customer and the customer's complaint is beneath all criticism is a disgrace to Manfook and HKG.
