Purchased a tyre insurance

Purchased a tyre insurance, paid £539.00 for a worthless policy.
The procedure put in place out taking your vehicle to a approved supplier, obtaining a quote, sending the quote pictures to the insurer before approval is made and before they pay out, all with a vehicle with no spare wheel like most new vehicles today.
No one answers the phone number, takes 20 days to answer emails, have tried to claim for a tyre replacement but after months I have been unsuccessful.

Reasonable service

After reading the reviews I was mortified and was expecting it to be months before I received my GAP insurance pay out. Whilst it is unhelpful that most of the communication is via email and is all a little slow moving, I was successfully paid out by MAPFRE within three weeks.

They were good at communicating with my main insurer when the settlement figure they came back with was too low.

I wouldn't give 5 stars as only communicating via email is frustrating and impersonal. I feel sorry for anyone who does not do well with technology if you need to make a claim.

Overall however, three weeks from start to finish and receiving my pay out is not bad and the level of cover provided is very good compared to others.

Will I go with MAPFRE for my next vehicle, no I will not. I have now learnt from experience and will always research the company before buying from them. I understand that some companies get bad reviews but clearly, my experience must be a rarity because this many bad reviews is scary.

Ombudsman judgement in my favour Only worth negative ratings

I, along with many others during the pandemic have had the misfortune to have to deal with this ineffective and dysfunctional company, which is Mapfre Assistance in relation to travel insurance.
Along with many others I would if I could give then a negative rating and will in the future avoiding any insurance products associated with Mapfre (they trade under many different names -read the small print).
I feel they are only dragging their feet and avoiding replying to my complaint in the hope I might go away.
My travel insurance claim was refused, which having read my policy I felt was unjustified so I went through the appeals process. I first wrote to Mapfre in October 2020 and did not receive a reply; so after 8 weeks (56 days) I approached the Financial Ombudsman.
In turn the Ombudsman passed my complaint back to Mapfre, instructing them to reply with the 56 days. I received an email approx. 5 week later stating that they were on track to reply to my complaint within the 56 days legal time frame. However, the day before the 56th day I received another email saying they required more time and it could take up to another 12 weeks to respond. So what changed so suddenly? Well that was 15 weeks ago.
I have approached the Ombudsman for the second time regarding this matter but understandable they are overstretched with record numbers of complaints against dysfunctional companies such as Mapfre.
My advice is to do your research and check out companies’ customer service rating; I wish I had and avoided Mapfre products.
They have now had my complaint 9 ½ month and I still have not given me a response…pandemic or no pandemic total unacceptable.
I got a ruling in my favor in March 22. Guess what they have not settled my claim within the legal time frame.
JUST AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST.
For me it off to the courts as the Ombudsman judgement can be converted into a court order.
Update:
It was pointless going to court as the company had closed all its offices in the UK.
I took to social media and badgered the company. Eventually as a last resort I sent an email direct the the companies CEO in Spain and if like magic my payment plus interest as ruled by the UK ombudsman was paid into my bank account. However I never received any acknowledgement or notification that the payment had been made.
Update June 2022:
Today I received a message via Trustpilot stating that Mapfre Assistance would like a little more information about my experience. This will help them write a more useful reply to you. They are unreal, this is 10 months after first posting my review and 18 months to settle the claim!
I stand by my original statement that this company is ineffective and dysfunctional and to avoid using it at all costs.

Mapfre is the parent company of insure…

Mapfre is the parent company of insure and go who we have our travel insurance with .
We sent in a travel insurance claim at the beginning of last April by post and here we are at the beginning of January and it still has not been sorted out
Just think about this . If you used them for your car insurance then wrote your car off and it took this long to sort it out you would be without a set of wheels for months on end

Dreadful company

Dreadful company. No way of contacting, phone always says due to unforeseen circumstances our offices are closed. Email them and you get a standard reply of someone will contact you within 15 working days, which they don't. Quick enough to take your money though. It seems to be set up to make you give up. Never again. I bought this insurance indirectly through a reputable broker. I kick myself now for not checking them out first.

Shame I can't leave a no star review

Shame I can't leave a no star review. Useless and unprofessional. Still failed to finally resolve a simple car hire excess claim made 6 months ago. Fail to respond to emails. Make sure your insurance company haven't appointed them as claims handlers

Avoid this company

Avoid this company. Their travel insurance is worthless. I made a simple claim in April 2020 and they are still refusing to pay this claim in November 2020. They will delay and delay in the hope you will give up. Please dont use them for travel insurance.

What's the point of travel insurance…

What's the point of travel insurance if, when the worst happens, the claims company involved in the process does not resolve your claim or your subsequent complaints about the claim? I went on a trip with 3 mates in February, had bags stolen and I'm still waiting for a response. My friends have all had their claims paid in full months ago and none of them went through Multi trip. It's now with the Ombudsman service. Make sure you read MAPFRE and Travel Claims Services reviews before you agree to taking out insurance as it's the back end of the process that's important. I suggest Multi trip use a different claims company

Sent a travel claim form 8 weeks ago

Sent a travel claim form 8 weeks ago, their automated response said I should hear back in 4 weeks. Finally rang only to be told that we're in a pandemic (as if I didn't know) and they are presently dealing with claims from April and mine was in a queue and it could be weeks/months before I hear back from them. Some businesses using Covid as an excuse delays. Asked would they not think about changing their automated response and maybe out of courtesy email people and tell them about the delay.

Dangerous, Liars, Cheat, Fraud..Scum

I booked travel insurance with insure and go and they gave me the Craftiest lying scum company Mapre,
In Short, all those reviews your reading (1 star) are true.
If Insure and Go come as a option on the comparison site, Its cheap because they are crooks. They have a friendly selling team, but after that, your on your own, Lots of lies and BS to avoid talking to you.
I wish i can upload all the voice conversations i fortunately recorded.
Im not going to discuss my issue as im definitely going to take legal action

Would not even rate as 1 star, be warned if you use Allclear holiday insurance.

Horrible and disgusting service…

Horrible and disgusting service received.
My dad had health issues in Paraguay and was hospitalised. He had insurance with Cover Cloud insurance and MapFre were assigned to start and progress a claim on his behalf.
All the criteria had been met in order to process a claim and have the medical bills paid by the insurance company, however like most insurance companies, MapFre were trying to find loopholes and stupid excuses to not pay out the money for my dad's health bills and transportation from Paraguay to U.K.
All the evidence had been sent to MapFre for the claim advisor to see clearly, everything that was stated in the claim. MapFre were making excuses and lies up regarding the evidence when it was VERY clear by hard evidence in front of them in paper format that my dad was telling the truth about his previous health history, duration of stay in Paraguay and hospital arrival date, medicines etc.
This insurance company had no valid explanation as to why they did not pay out for the claim. Why have travel insurance if they are not going to cover you and not pay for the medical bills?!
They rejected the claim for no valid reason at all and financial ombudsmen sided with them as they probably felt the need to.
I would NOT recommend to take insurance out with Cover Cloud whether it is cheap or not. They are a horrible company and do not put their customers first. They were also rude, issued a few threats (to deter us from proceeding with the claim) and unhelpful.
