Poor quality cars and even worse service these days

The worst possible service from VW and the Ipswich dealership. ID4 doors opening when the car is moving. Wife and 2 year now can’t use car. Part of a recall problem. Can’t fix it for three months - round in circles and full of lies. I’ve even lost track of the date in June they are prepared to look at it as it keeps changing. Last VW I ever drive. Literally dealer or VW couldn’t care less #vwipswich #id4 #recall #poorservice

Good response to post-sale issue

I bought a car from Premium Used Cars in February 2026. The car showed signs of a problem within a couple of days of delivery, and I live a couple of hours drive from the dealership. I was really satisfied with how Premium Used Cars resolved the issue in a way which didn't inconvenience me, and left me confident that the car was sound. I dealt with Owen, who was really professional and communicated really well - many thanks!

1-Star Review – Misleading, Dishonest, and Unwilling to Resolve Issues

⭐ 1-Star Review – Misleading, Dishonest, and Unwilling to Resolve Issues
We recently purchased a vehicle from Audi Used Approved Ipswich, believing we were buying a car that had been properly repaired and prepared, as you'd reasonably expect from an Audi Approved dealership.
However, after the vehicles first wash, it became clear that damage had been deliberately concealed using black polish to hide scratches — rather than being properly repaired. This deceptive tactic gave the false impression that the car was in far better condition than it actually was.
When we raised the issue, the dealership's response was deeply disappointing. They refused to take any responsibility, stating that we had time to inspect the vehicle — as if that excuses knowingly concealing flaws during the sales process. How many people arrive with a bucket and sponge to check for concealed damage from an approved dealer?
This experience has completely undermined our trust in both the dealership and the Audi Approved Used scheme. Be extremely cautious — don’t assume quality, transparency, or accountability, even when buying from a main dealer.
Do not buy a vehicle from James at Audi Ipswich!

Purchased a car 15 months ago

Ipswich Branch Purchased a car 15 months ago, car returned a number of times and returned with same issues. Very poor at getting back with options although they have carried out repairs that they believe resolve the issues car had to go back 5 times. Sent in a customer complaint which was acknowledged but then nothing for 8 weeks. Wouldn’t use again nor recommend to others. Staff are nice but difficult to get hold of fobbed off with trade in price if we are not happy. Very poor

Awful behaviour from the sales…

Awful behaviour from the sales department at Kings Lynn Audi
I was very interested in a particular car and stood by for them to see if my car could be part exchanged.
They sold the car whilst dealing with me - not even a courtesy call or email. Car dealerships days are numbered.

Recently bought an Audi R8

Recently bought an Audi R8, sadly not from Audi Ipswich as they had none in stock, I contacted Audi Ipswich for advise on a few things, A man called Flynn could not have been more helpful, I took the car in and a man called James ran me through how to connect phone and Audi connect and a few other things, and then lastly I had dealings with Peter and as with the other two was fantastic and really helpful. The car will be going to Audi Ipswich for Servicing and whatever else is needed, I was very impressed with everyone that helped me... many thanks Alf Jenkins...........

Fantastic experience buying a car from…

Fantastic experience buying a car from Ipswich Audi this week, Howard was great to deal with as was Angus who sorted the handover. The car was very well presented, pulling the cover off in the showroom was 👌🏻 and I drove off very happy with a full tank of fuel too. Shame it’s so far away and won’t be my local dealership.

MISSING ORDERED PART

Today I went to collect an ordered part that was ready for collection from VW BURY ST EDMUNDS. I was informed that the parts dept was closed (even though I was told that morning by someone at the Ipswich branch that it was open). Long story short, the guys at the dealership couldn’t find the part (which I needed today as I had arranged for it to be fitted tomorrow). They did their best to locate it, which I am grateful for, however I was sat in the dealership for an hour and a half! After all of that time and much searching, it was found but under a completely different name (although the reg was on the paperwork). I appreciate the guys helping, however as a paying customer, that’s what I would expect. What should have been a simple 5 min “pick up and leave” scenario, turned into a stressful 1.5hrs. Note to the parts dept typing in the customer names - double check and be more vigilant!!

Not a great experience.

I bought a Skoda from Bristo's in Ipswich. The car was ok but the level of service from the salesman was not.
The car was not clean when I collected it and the handover was rushed. He then asked me to complete the online survey and that anything less than 5 stars was classed as a failure. I told him I was not going to give 5 stars due to the cleanliness and the rushed handover.
He invited me to come back to have the car re-cleaned and go over any questions I had about the car that were not covered on the initial handover. The same car cleaner cleaned the car to the same poor standard as before and the salesman did not have the time to go over my questions about the car..
I went to complete the online survey but the link had been removed because they knew they were not going to get the 5 stars they wanted.
Not great service at all so I'll be requesting a different salesperson if I decide to use this dealership again...

Exemplary experience with Luke at Bury St…

My experience with Luke at Bury St Edmunds branch could not have been better. Although I did not end up buying the vehicle (for reasons not his fault ) he was helpful , knowledgeable and courteous throughout our dealings .. and when I had to cancel the deal
Luke actioned the cancellation with his usual courtesy and swiftness. Can only recommend from my experience.

Disappointing Experience with Audi A4 Purchase at Premium Used Cars

I recently visited Premium Used Cars to view an Audi A4 Saloon (AJ66 YOE) and was extremely disappointed with the experience. I had hoped to receive premium service and transparency, but instead encountered numerous issues:

Rude and Unprofessional Sales Representative: Initially, we were dealing directly with a gentleman who was professional and courteous, making the beginning of our experience much more positive. However, a female sales representative repeatedly interrupted our conversation, often being rude and dismissive. She constantly talked over me and displayed a pushy attitude, trying to close the deal before I even had a chance to thoroughly inspect the car. She contradicted herself multiple times and even lied about the vehicle’s condition.

Misleading Information About Car Condition: I discovered that the car had been in a significant accident, resulting in a replacement of the OSR door, poorly done paintwork on the rear quarter panel, and a replaced rear window—none of which were disclosed before or during the viewing.

Inaccurate Claims About Car Servicing: Premium Used Cars claimed the car had a recent full service with all fluids topped up. However, I quickly noticed that the windshield washer bottle was not full, contradicting their claim. When I pointed this out, the staff seemed surprised, which made me question the quality and thoroughness of the entire service.

Unwelcoming Atmosphere: Unlike other dealerships where customer hospitality is standard, I was not offered any refreshments, yet the salesperson sat there drinking a hot tea in front of us. This came across as inconsiderate and unprofessional.

Overall, this experience fell far short of what I expected from a reputable dealership. While the gentleman we initially dealt with was respectful and professional, the rest of the experience overshadowed his efforts. I would not recommend Premium Used Cars to anyone in search of a high-quality, transparent, and respectful car-buying experience.

Hi Mr Pitts, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review regarding your experience with Premium Used Cars, Bury St Edmunds.

We are extremely disappointed to read your feedback and, if possible, I would like to arrange a call to run through the finer details with you, purely so I can understand how we can do things better going forward. Having spoken to my colleagues who looked after you, they informed me that you accompanied our customer who had already reserved the Audi A3 online. Prior to your visit, our customer had been explicitly informed of the condition of the car and, furthermore the sales team went through the service history etc. in detail. Unfortunately, upon arrival yourself and our customer felt that even though the car drove well, the condition had been mis-described and wasn’t as you had anticipated. After some deliberation, the customer decided that it wasn’t the car for him, predominantly down to colour, and we agreed to refund him in full.

We have subsequently sold the car, at the advertised asking price which, as pointed out to you by the sales team, was competitively priced. The new owner is particularly pleased with the mileage and condition of the one previous owner car.

Once again, I can only apologise for your bad experience.

Kind regards,

Kevin @ Premium Used Cars.

A company to avoid.

It appears the Bury St Edmunds branch is severely understaffed. Yesterday I made 5 phone calls trying to contact the service desk. On each occasion the line was cut off presumably because I'd remained on the line too long. On other occasions I’ve had the same difficulties.

Two years back I attempted to purchase a new ID3 for my wife having paid a deposit to hold the vehicle. I waited in the showroom close to an hour for an appointment. Eventually I gave up and walked out. Later I was phoned and reproached for being early for the appointment. Not true as it happens plus blaming the customer is never a good move. Needless to say I purchased an alternative EV from another supplier.

Other issues include mistakes on the pricing of pre-paid service plans and unecessary replacement of wiper blades at excessive prices.

Fortunately yesterdays experience led me to finding an independent VW specialist who couldn't be more helpful, so no more Marriott frustrations for me.

Reading other reviews it appears customer difficulties could eminate from understaffing along with a strict/rigid management strategy which doesn’t translate to good customer service and possibly the cause of staffing issues/retention? Who knows?

Presently if possible, I suggest a company to be avoided.

Great service from VW Ipswich

I sent an email to VW Ipswich about a vehicle I had seen advertised, I got a call back from Louis to say they couldn't get hold of that vehicle because it was under a different VW company but he was happy to help me find a vehicle and sent through some options. I was looking at a polo originally then changed my mind to a golf which was located at Kings Lynn. Louis got it sent to Ipswich very quickly so I could test drive it. I got a fair price which I was happy with for my part exchange. Louis replied to all emails quickly and I have never bought / sold a car so easily. So far I am very happy with the new car.

Vw Ipswich Sales

Vw Ipswich extremely poor sales team, ridiculous low & insulting trade in value a car brought from them, their car we enquired about was overpriced & only really interested in offering Pcp or Hp. Having used them in the past several times never again & would defiantly not recommend to any body.
