They said all the right things to get my property listed with them. I thought that going with the most local agent made sense - that they somehow had more idea of the local market, but I was wrong. They set a higher price than the other two agents and I was carried along by their confidence. Despite knowing the sale was due to bereavement, that it was already in need of repair and was going to sit empty, they were happy to proceed with an unrealistic price. Once they had it listed their proactivity ceased. There was one viewing initially which yielded no interest and then no more. We started to find that our calls were not returned we always had to call again. Discussions over pricing turned to asking us what we were prepared to drop it to. They wouldn’t give an opinion, presumably because they didn’t want to admit their initial pricing was unrealistic. I’m sure they will excuse this with ‘market volatility’. Meanwhile, the property itself was deteriorating. We finally gave notice to terminate our contract with them at which point a viewing magically materialised. They wouldn’t communicate with me on the day about how it went and kept brushing me off. Eventually they told me the buyer felt the price was too high. No one thought to speak to me regarding negotiating a lower price. There was no for sale sign outside my property either. I feel that it was used as a filler. Maybe you get a better service for higher end properties? Very unimpressed. The property has been sold inside of six months with a different agent. I give one star for releasing me from my contract early.

We had a very disappointing experience with this letting agency. Throughout our tenancy, we reported multiple serious issues with the property—most notably worsening damp and mold—which were repeatedly acknowledged but never properly addressed. Despite being assured several times that repairs were to be scheduled, nothing was ever followed through.

On more than one occasion, we were blatantly misled about when and what work would be carried out. We did our best to manage what was within our responsibility, even going as far as to replace parts of the kitchen at our own cost.

The situation was made even more frustrating by the agency’s attitude. They were often dismissive, and even made false claims that we had refused access to tradespeople—which was absolutely not the case. In reality, we went out of our way to accommodate repair visits that simply never happened.

The lack of professionalism, accountability, and care for tenants’ wellbeing was shocking. I would not recommend this agency to anyone.

The reply does not refer to the property in question in this review.. we did not ask to extend the notice period and those works mentioned in the reply were not carried out at the afore mentioned address. We were shocked by the service we received as it didn't align with reviews of the company.

May Whetter and Grose is a fantastic local estate agents. We cannot recommend the St Austell branch highly enough. The initial market appraisal was conducted by Richard who was extremely knowledgeable regarding the local area and very helpful, professional and personable and we immediately felt confident to choose MWG as a result. Communication / feedback regarding viewings was amazing and the whole team were lovely and nothing was ever too much trouble throughout the marketing process. A buyer was found quickly and Sarah the sales progressor was fantastic at keeping things on track, and keeping us updated right through until completion. Overall the whole team are professional, super helpful, always willing to answer queries and solve problems and we are now using them again. Thank you so much. We cannot praise you enough.

I gave instruction to sell my property to the sales team in the St Austell branch. Although my house did take some time to sell, this is no reflection on the sales team. Throughly professional throughout, always kept up to date with viewings, feedback post viewing, diligence with queries and chasing up. I would definitely instruct them again and highly recommend.

Absolutely amazing team. Made selling our home so easy from start to finish, they put 110% in. Wouldn't go anywhere else again.

Terrible company, they keep you waiting when you've put in an offer, play you against other offers.
This has happened twice now.
Not trustworthy at all.

Our four-bedroomed house was put on the market late last year and secured many more viewings and offers than we expected, despite missing the stamp duty exemptions. The staff were very helpful and gave us much needed sound advice particularly in our choice of a buyer. The sale was completed in early January without any "hitches", for which we are extremely grateful to May Whetter's St Austell office.

(Letting) I am a 24 year old and would never recommend these to anyone or my friends. The way me and my partner were dealt with had made me never want to rent again. From feeling bullied in my own home and looked down on most the time. We have just had the worst experience. Would never recommend unless you want to be looked down on and they will never be in the wrong! Wish I could give lower than a 1
