Have been coming to Mcqueen hair for over a year now and could not recommend Lauren enough, shes the only hairdresser in the area thats done my blonde hair just how I like it and makes the experience perfect. She has helped me transform my hair and always recommends the best products for me.

Avoid! Stylist asured me I did not need heat protection despite me requesting her to use it and now, two weeks later my hair looks dry, it's breaking and I'm experiencing a lot of hair loss.
I have long hair and it has always been healthy, I never used heat to style it, but due to an important occasion thought to have some styling done for a different look. Had tried the style in another hairdresser in Tunbtidge Wells the week before and the stylist there used loads of heat protection, texturizing, etc in each strand of hair; my hair looked amazing for days! After washing it looked healthy and shiny. Unfortunatelly they were fully booked for the day I needed, so I tried McQueen in Tunbridge Wells and it was a disaster, the style did not hold even 12h, despite me explaining I had an occssion the next day and asking for texturizers and protection to be used. She reasdured me saying I did not need heat protection and she would use something to hold at the end. She sprayed something for 3 secs before I left.
This place charges more than the other one for styling, but their work isn"t even comparable. I've experienced a cheap service, no use of products to protect the hair from the straighteners heat, no texturizser, nothing! I regret deeply having trusted my hair to them, they destroyed my lushious long hair in one styling visit!

You have now seen this review and offered to 'make things right for me'. Nice words, but that's not possible I'm afraid, as my hair is already damaged, the occasion for which I styled it has passed and more importantly, after the experience I had I will never trust my hair to McQueen again, be sure of that!
I'm now treating my hair with an array of expensive products to minimize the amount of cutting I will need to do for pfobably 2 years until I recover the hair I had before visiting your salon.
The one needing help here is your business as I can't see it lasting too long when you treat customers the way you do.
Firstly,instead of focusing in overcharging, being stingy with the use of products and doing things as quickly as possible; you could go around Tunbridge Wells and see how your competitors listen to clients, treat thier hairs and convcerns as if they were their own and make custimers happy not only for the occasion they are being styled but for the long term as their hair continue to be as healthy if not more than what it was before the apppintment; an experience completely opposite to what McQueen Tunbrigde Wells has provided me, as I am.and will continue to remember you for at least 2 years, but for all the wrong reasons!

I went to McQueen on two occasions. The first time wasn't too bad, although I requested that they did not use thinning scissors on my hair and to take the weight out using scissors. The girl did not have any idea how to do this so I reluctantly accepted the thinning scissors. Cut was not the best but ok. Second time I went, I had a different girl. I wanted the same style (graduated Bob) just a little shorter and again needed the weight taken out of my hair. This girl proceeded to literally hack my hair in big clumps from the root of my hair with the thinning scissors. I stopped her and questioned if she should be doing it that close to my scalp and she 'reassured' me that this was how this style was done. By this time I had no choice, I had to go with it so my hair would at least be even. When I got home, I even noticed that one side of my hair was longer than the other. This was done back in July and I'm still trying to rectify this terrible hair cut. I have small hairs sticking out from the top of my head each time I dry it and have to smooth them down. I literally could have done a better job myself. I now need a new hairdresser and been putting it off as I'm quite worried about trusting someone to do it. This was an awful experience and will never go back. Yes it was a junior stylist but if they are not trained properly then do not allow them to do peoples hair. I have spoken to two hairdressers since for advice and they both said it is an awful cut and thinning scissors should never be used at the root of your hair and the length of my hair was not even!! They should know how to take weight out without the use of thinning scissors. Terrible experience that I have to put up with until my hair grows again.
Update: I have just read the response from McQueen. They have not offered for me to go in and assess my hair as they would not of known until this review. I would not have allowed any of them near my hair even to assess it let alone attempt to rectify the issue. This girl was not under supervision or a training session. She must have been fully trained to allow her to have her own clients. She has clearly not been trained well.

I have visited this salon 5 times now and not once have they managed to cut and style my hair as requested! Everytime I had a appointment it was with a different member of staff,because the stylist who cut my hair had given notice to leave the company, a few times I have Been there they don't even ask if I would like a drink or take my coat! After my appointments they have tried to correct my hair, spoken to Si the manager a few times about this and he always tries to reassure me but I am never happy with the cuts there! I won't be returning as I have Been let down and upset too many times! Si has said they will correct my hair,but it's too risky and I just feel I've wasted my money! Won't be returning!!!

For the first time in many years I had the best hair cut with Si, not only did he take the time to ask how I wanted it done he did it, and for the first time in years I left extremely happy. Plus booked in again for highlights knowing I am going to actually get done perfectly.

I had a terrible experience with Simon (Si) at Tunbridge Wells. He was very unprofessional not accepting a voucher I had purchased on his salon. My voucher had not expired and he just said it was not valid without any explanation why and he was absolutely dismissive. He was very dishonest and I felt he just wanted to take advantage of me trying to take as much money from me, trying to make me feel like it was my fault when clearly it was a mistake from their end.I will never come back there again as I have never felt so mistreated. Be careful when you buy any voucher from them because they do not respect the validity and worse, they do not explain why and try to make you feel you are the one to blame. Absolutely unprofessional.

Awful customer service extremely unhelpful

My wife had a hair appointment here today and came home in tears. Due to the rudeness of the hairdresser. After offer to show what hair cut my wife wanted. The hairdresser said that it could not be done. They just trimmed her hair. All this got £100

I booked her an appointment with another hairdressers that did exactly what she wanted. For a fraction of the price.

I took my 5 year old daughter to the Orpington branch to have her ears pierced. She was excited but a little nervous and was immediately put at ease by Carla. She got to choose the studs she wanted from a number of options. We were taken to a private room at the back of the shop and Carla discussed any concerns and explained the process. My daughter didn't even flinch when the piercing was done and only complained of soreness for a few hours after. We were given cleaning solution and instructions of how/when to clean to avoid chance of infection. A week later and my daughter ears show no sign of any issues and she is over the moon with the result. I'm so happy we chose McQueen do have her ears pierced. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to a friend.

Si did my daughter’s first ear piercing and we’ve just been back 5 years later for her ‘seconds’! I imagine we’ll be back at some stage for thirds! Can’t recommend enough.

I had my ears pierced with Si at the TW store and it went really well. They were amazing in reassuring me and walked me through how and what was going to happen.
We spent a good amount of time deciding the placement and Si made sure I was happy with the placement before we proceed. The piercing itself was done quickly and efficiently and for someone with a low pain threshold I didn’t feel much pain at all- I’ve had flu vaccines more painful.

I also liked the fact you have a private room where the piercing is done. It’s not like some places that have you on the shop floor, you get privacy.

All in all I recommend this store and Si for piercings. I’ve been putting it off for a while due to being too nervous and now I’m considering getting another piercing due to how smoothly this went.

Amazing - I would thoroughly recommend Si. He coloured, cut and styled my hair beautifully and I look forward to visiting the salon in their new venue very soon - thank you.

I was at the Tunbridge Wells salon earlier today, 24th September 2023 to have an hair cut, roots tint and blow dry with Simon. Once again I wasn’t disappointed, Simon first applied the colour and after washing my hair he also pampered me with a nice hot towel head massage. He then finished off with a superb hair cut and blow dry. Simon us been my hair dresser for quite a few years now, and my hair has gone visibly stronger since I’ve been his customer. He always provides with with some good advice to keep my hair as healthy as possible, and all in all I always enjoy being at his salon as I also get to talk to him a lot. I consider Simon not just as my hair dresser but also as a good friend of mine. Thank you Simon, as once again you made me feel like a princess! Cristina

I came in with a circle brush badly stuck in a large chunk of my hair after a few hours of trying to get it out to no avail. The hairdresser at McQueen's was able to get it out in under 30 minutes without cutting any of my hair, and explained every step of the process to me whilst she did it (which made a big difference since I'm very afraid of hair salons and especially haircuts). To top it off, she wouldn't accept payment. Very sound hairdresser, thoroughly recommend.

Having had a haircut booked in I got a punctured tyre and was unable to make it in time despite my best efforts. On rescheduling this there was clearly a communication error as I had a different day put in to what the salon had. Anyway, as a result I was told I would lose my deposit completely and would have to pay again to book another appointment. I was extremely disappointed with this as I understand there is a policy in place but at the same time sometimes a situation has to be taken into account rather than just a computer says no policy. Very disappointed as it’s a lot of money to lose and it was a haircut I was very much looking forward to having. I was offered another appointment but told I would lose my initial deposit of almost 60 pounds!! Given this experience and lack of understanding from the salon I will not be booking here again.
