Michael Caines is a legend

Michael Caines is a legend. What a lovely man. Walk round with me to check out the job. Made me feel like this man cares for us!!! Explained what he is doing and how it can help. He was super clean work wise, eye for detail. Damp and mold is a big issue and I feel you have the right man for this job.
I enjoyed him so much that I would love to work with him as I know I would learn so much and we bounced off each other.

Lazy staff and poor time managemnt

Been waiting for 10 months now for the installation of a new bathroom. Mears have ignored all communications from me trying to chase it up as the council are too lazy to chase it up. Have wrote many complaints and still no start date. Avelino is a poor customer service agent who despite numerous emails to chase up a stat date never bothers to get back to me. They must have some right dickheads working at Mears lol. I've had to complain to housing ombudsman just to get a start date. Ridiculous and a poor poor display of skills from Mears group. Useless!!!

Im in a council house so called mears…

Im in a council house so called mears to repair my shower. They came out last Tuesday said they would return the following tuesday to repair my shower (no show) no phone call nothing. So I called them. They said sorry my lady was off poorly so sent someone else wrong who didnt know what for and didnt have the items to fix my shower so stayed in all day for nothing. Still no call to rebook me in. Absolutely appalling company

Wayne from Mears is a sexual predator…

Wayne from Mears is a sexual predator who made sexual comments about my 5 year old and they lied that they did an investigation and he denied it and they covered for him and said the conversation never happened. They have covered up for a sexual predator and the little boy with him witnessed it and lied to. This is deeply concerning and disgusting.

Extremely dissatisfied with this company. They're even worse than Readyhomes. Very incompetent. Inconsiderate. No compassion. Extremely rude/racist staff. Rude security staff. Unprofessional. Lack of empathy. Liars. Especially the staff at Staycity aparthotel York. No windows nor proper vents in any sort of the rooms. Came in the room with used pots, forks, frying pans and other utensils. Came and met a stale blood stain on the mattress cover. Distasteful, very awful company. I only gave one star because 0 star wasn't available to choose.

Repair man turned up 45 minutes late

Repair man turned up 45 minutes late, despite the work order being to refit my immersion heater completely and correctly. They decided to just replace a pump which was not the full scope of works needless to say nothing got done and I wasted a day off of work to accommodate these clowns messing me around.

Only Positive Feedback From Me!

I know most of the reviews are negative but I can't understand why the rating for Mears is so low.

I have always received fantastic care, service and support from everyone there. When I call them about a faulty lift (quite often) they arrange for an engineer visit usually the same day!

If I call up about a plumbing problem they send a plumber the same day (or next day if it's not urgent). If there's a broken security gate they arrange repair usually the same day. Same with communal lighting.

Honestly, if you're cool and respectful I can guarantee you'll get great service. At the end of the day Mears are genuinely trying their best to give a great service, just be aware that the person you're speaking with is very likely overworked and underpaid.

Thank you to everyone at Mears for always providing great advice and service.

I had William ( Joiner) from Mears who…

I had William ( Joiner) from Mears who came out to my property to attach a new shower door, he went above and beyond as he also attached beading around my bath. I would highly recommend William he was fantastic, he even cleaned up after himself. It was a pleasure no stress what so ever.

The words I wish I could have used on…

The words I wish I could have used on the phone with the unsympathetic man I spoke with. Housebound and boiler not working again. Apparently because the boiler turns on and gives me an entire 60 seconds of heating in only the kitchen and bathroom before completely shutting off, it doesn’t warrant an emergency visit, despite it reaching -1 tonight. Ground floor bungalow too and recovering from surgery. These people are useless and I hate them. They only repaired the boiler last in October. They never fix anything, always cause conflict and should not be employed by the council.

Mears Bryson Court Livingston Assisted Living

This is for Bryson Court Assisted Living in Pumpherston, Livingston for Assisted Living for Autistic Adults with Complex Needs. This is quite new, only got built recently but my son's name was down for years as the social worker had said it would be 'the best'! When my severely autistic and non verbal with learning disability son eventually moved into a house in this complex, from the very first day Management were rude and did not answer any questions, they just wanted money for food etc. upfront, said they would need at least 150 pounds a week just for outings and groceries. I ended up getting his groceries delivered each week and asked for receipts for everything else, never got one single receipt! My son was sick with flue a couple of days after moving in there and kept getting one thing after another, put on weight, didn't want to go back when coming home for visits, was indicating he was extremely unhappy, the house was not kept clean, the staff were just awful and totally incompetent (so much for well trained and experienced staff!), Management were dreadful, money just went with no idea where it was going, staff broke my son's belongings, even his kettle! Things went missing, it was a completely disaster. After pushing for months eventually the social worker agreed he could move but with no help from the social worker, I had to search for another suitable place. Luckily I found a lovely residential and my son is now happy, after almost a year of being miserable and such a horrible experience for all of us, at last he is settled and happy, back to normal weight. I am amazed this sort of thing is allowed in this day and age, I.e. useless untrained Management and staff, Mears just care about money, nothing else, they care more about staff that the vulnerable people they're supposed to care for! Never again will my son be in a position where Mears are the supposed 'caregivers' - oh and I transferred social work to Fakirk from West Lothian, they were so useless as well! So much better all round.

I could have learnt to replace my floor myself in the months it took them to get round to doing it. Come to think of it the 9 total days I took off work while they repeatedly didn't show up would probably have paid for it too. Criminals honestly

Non existent service

Appalling service. They were meant to do a repair today and didn’t turn up. They hadn’t arranged the appointment and I only found out they were coming by calling the council helpline. I can’t communicate directly with them as they appear to have disabled their phone. I have been trying to call for the last two weeks. Thanks to their non existent service I will have to continue putting up with rats in my home over Christmas.
