Participating in the Teach-the-Teacher course was a very valuable experience for me, both personally and professionally. The atmosphere was friendly and supportive, and our tutor was exceptionally approachable and engaging, which made the learning experience enjoyable and easy to participate in. Working alongside eight other doctors gave me the opportunity to observe a variety of teaching styles and approaches. Through group discussions, practical teaching exercises, and feedback sessions, I learned not only new teaching methods but also became more aware of my own strengths and areas to improve.

The micro-teaching sessions helped me recognise how important structure, clarity, and learner-centred teaching are. By watching others present, I realised effective ways to break down clinical topics, maintain engagement, and deliver constructive feedback. I also identified some gaps in my own teaching technique—such as pacing, questioning methods, and adjusting content to different learner levels—which I can now actively work on.

Overall, the course increased my confidence as a teacher, expanded my understanding of adult learning principles, and motivated me to incorporate structured teaching and feedback into my daily clinical practice. I feel much better equipped to contribute to the teaching of medical students, junior doctors, nursing staff, and colleagues within the NHS.

the only issue was the length of the session which required attendees to stair on the screen continuously for two days that is a bit uncomfortable

I really enjoyed this course. It has helped me fully understand the value of reflection and how essential it is in clinical practice. The bite-sized sections made the content easy to follow, and the exercises were genuinely thought-provoking. I believe all clinicians would benefit greatly from completing this course
