Dishonest Dealership – Sold Me a Lemon and Then Refused to Take Accountability

If I could give zero stars, I would. I purchased a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee from Mercedes-Benz of Easton, expecting professionalism and integrity from a dealership with such a reputable name. What I got instead was a complete nightmare.
Within two months of owning the vehicle, I took it in for a simple oil change—only to find out the oil drain bolt had been stripped. I had to take it to a Jeep dealership just to get that fixed, which cost me more money out of pocket. But that wasn’t the worst part. While the Jeep dealer had it, they found:
A cracked engine mount

A cracked radiator

Warped brake rotors

Paint markings all over the engine—suggesting a possible junkyard engine had been installed

At that point, I reached out to Mercedes-Benz of Easton with my concerns. If this car had a swapped engine, that should’ve been disclosed, even if the car was sold “as-is.” Instead of taking my concerns seriously, I was told “too bad” and treated like I didn’t matter. They brushed it off and offered no help at all.
Eventually, I got in touch with the general manager, Austin, who told me to bring the car in for inspection and that they’d take care of it. They did provide a rental car, which I appreciated—but that’s where the professionalism ended. Joe from their service team “looked at it,” then called me and said there were “paint markings” and nothing else. I asked him to check the VIN numbers on the engine to verify if it was the original motor, and he told me they “don’t have access to that.”
So what was the point of having me bring my car in if they weren’t actually going to investigate anything? Joe was rude, dismissive, and clearly had no real knowledge of what he was talking about. The whole process felt like a waste of time and a tactic to get me to go away quietly.
The truth is, I feel like I was sold a lemon—possibly even a vehicle with a junkyard engine—and this dealership didn’t care one bit. They showed no accountability, no transparency, and absolutely no respect for me as a customer.
I will never buy from Mercedes-Benz of Easton again. I won’t get service done there, and I’ll be warning as many people as I can to stay far away from this place. If this is how they treat people after making a sale, I can only imagine what else goes on behind the scenes.
Save yourself the time, money, and stress—take your business somewhere that actually values honesty and customer service.
