Customer service sucks
Customer service sucks. I booked one of their units through AirBNB and needed to cancel unfortunately. I missed the full refund option by minutes. Their policy was 4pm and I finally had a moment at 4:05pm. I reached out to them through the messaging to see if they could do an exception at 4:15 ish and was told absolutely not. I asked for a partial refund of my deposit through AirBNB's suggested method and again was told no. I will make sure to not book with this particular company for the future.

This is the worst vacation rental company I have ever used. Got a house with a hot tub expecting everything to be fine but then the hot tub did not work after the first night. Maintenance people said they could come out but never did and then the company blames me for the hot tub not working so they can keep all the money. I got a hot tub to use every night and it was only working this first night. Than even better the management company sent a email threatening me to not leave a bad review which is against so many laws. So people learn and do not waste your money on this company.!! They said they would refund the money and than made excuses and said it was working. Well it wasn't while I was there!!!

Dynamic pricing is a fancy way to rip you off.
Book in advance expecting a lower price: you get Dynamic pricing. I got triple the going rate when I rented in advance. How do I know ? I checked the rental price 2 weeks before my stay I booked 6 months ago. Yep it was 2/3 less two weeks out vs 6 months. I called Meredith for some compensation. I got told " Dynamic pricing" like it was a good thing . What a scummy business.
Awesome Clean Cabin!
We have been staying at Meredith Lodging / Mt. Hood Vacation Rentals every year for eight years now, and are always super satisfied with our experience. Our most recent stay, at ZigZag Mountain Lodge, was perfect.
The cabin was immaculately clean, and the kitchen had almost everything we needed (the only thing missing was a potato peeler). While the property had neighboring homes, it still felt secluded while we were there.
The beds and the bedding were the finest we’ve experienced at any of our Mt. Hood rentals. The showers had decent water pressure, and we never ran out of hot water, even after a few people showered in a short time frame.
The two living room areas, on the main floor and in the loft, both featured plentiful and comfortable furniture, and the gas fireplace was easy to operate and worked great. We will definitely return to this property for a future vacation!

Need to cancel a reservation that I will never make in the future
Need to cancel a reservation that starts 1/24/2026. Notified them on 10/6/2025, giving them 110 days notice. Absolutely no flexibility whatsoever. Yes, I read the rental agreement. However, the fees they will retain will include a $220 cleaning fee, $91 limited damage waiver, $120 pet fee, $206 in taxes, and a $309 booking fee. This is a predatory and unacceptable business practice.

Rented the "teal and tangerine" in Palm…
Rented the "teal and tangerine" in Palm Springs twice. The rental agreement included heating the pool. I verified via e-mail that it was included and was still charged. Bed frame collapsed in the middle of the night. Sadly, I was "in charge" of removing the broken frame. Staff professionalism and courtesy is far below average.

I owned a house that was rented out by…
I owned a house that was rented out by Meredith Lodging for two years. They hid damage to my house, and to the items within my house. I am completely convinced that housekeeping is incentivized to not report lost or damaged items to home owners. When we off boarded they stole all of our owner provided linens. I wouldn’t let them manage my house if they were the only choice left, they’re awful and incompetent.

They just want your money.
Most everything in the house was worn out. The Jen-air we had for a microwave shorted and popped breakers. The sink faucet had no aerator in it and the water sprayed everywhere. BBQ tank was empty and we had to use our own till they replaced and the BBQ was burned up. All patio doors did not work properly and all cooking pots and pans were worn out and destroyed. I wouldn't of used the pots as a dog bowl.

So far my experience has been dissapointing. I have two upcoming rentals and everything I request, and these things are very small. Like if the property was ready, coild we check in 30 minutes early. NO!
Anyway, they do not bend from theb“rules“. ! Lind of rediculous.

A Terrible Experience with Meredith Lodging
We stayed at a Meredith Lodging vacation rental June 16-21 for which we paid $3854. So many things went wrong in the house that my 5-day vacation was ruined, interrupted with trying to live for a while with the problems, report the problems, and have a workman in the house repeatedly. Afterward I emailed about our experience, asking Meredith Lodging for a 20% refund which I thought was more than fair for the continually interruped vacation we went through. They did not even respond to my email! I called, asking to speak with a manager which didn't happen, so I asked that my request be explained and be sent up the chain of authority, and someone get back to me. They never called back. When I called back several times, each time the staff said they didn't have authority to provide a refund, and I went through the same procedure. Finally staff offered me $300, which I firmly refused, given all my family went through. No one ever called me back. When I called again, they offered me $300, and said they had no idea whether anyone up the chain ever considered my request.
Here is what my vacation was like:
1) Two family members sat in lawn chairs in the garage which immediately cracked, sending the to the cement floor. One experienced back pain for most of our vacation.
2) In the main bathroom, the toilet leaked, and the maintenance man had to come twice.
3) Although the house was advertised as accommodating up to 10 people, the living room where we gathered for talking, games, & TV had only seating for 7.
4) Preparing dinner, the garbage disposal sent up chopped potato peels & water into the main sink which was then stopped up. It remained so through all the rest of dinner prep and the whole evening & overnight. We called for the maintenance man in the morning.
5) The first time we used the oven, the outer door fell off and there was no way to repair it. The inner door wouldn't stay shut without a heavy chair propped against it which we then tripped over. And the door fell open several times while we tried to cook a casserole. The maintenance man was to busy to come the next day, so we dealt with the problem for 2 days.
6) On our last day, a radiator cover fell off. We were unable to reattach it, and nails were sticking out.
After 5 weeks of trying to pursue this, nothing has been done to compensate us, even a little, for our stressful experience.

Late check in, disgusting house, not great fix
Me and my family are currently staying in a Meredith property in Manzanita, OR. Our check in was delayed an hour and a half, which we took with stride, thinking they wanted to give us their best and needed a little extra time to clean for whatever reason.
We arrive at the house for the new check in time only to find the floors covered in crumbs, the surfaces sticky and unclean. The bathrooms are filthy. There's no towels, no soap, none of the beds are made. And forget even having the beds made, there are no clean sheets. The trash cans still have stuff in them from the last group of people here. There are dirty sheets piled outside the laundry room. And there is sand and dirt in the hot tub, making it unusable.
We call the office and are understanding (truly, it must be a mistake. We wondered if the cleaners had called out sick or something). They send a lovely lady with sheets all the way from seaside, unfortunately it's 4 hours after we've checked in and 2 hours past my children's bed time. We're still hopeful and understanding, they say they'll send a cleaning crew the next morning.
Well, the single cleaning lady is here now. She's been told by management to only clean the bathrooms. Not the sticky counters, not the crumbs all over the floor. We're still waiting on the correct sheets for some of the beds so we can actually use them. Overall this has been a horrifying experience.
On the plus side, the customer service people have been very communicative, they have promised to waive our cleaning fee, and have told us they will comp a dinner up to a certain cost.

Poor maintenance and cleaning, company website blocks negative reviews
Stayed for a week at a Meredith Lodging Sunriver home (pole house 15) and the maintenance issues that had clearly been overlooked for years were really apparent and affected our stay there. I tried to reach out but most of the concerns really weren't fixable while we were there (including having a broken staircase to the top floor, broken window blinds, heavily scratched teflon pans and rugs that were very dirty), so I'd planned to write a review since those on the website are all so glowing. Came to find out that their website supresses negative reviews.

My family and I arrived at our rental…
My family and I arrived at our rental in seal rock 8 miles south of Newport Oregon. Before we could even unpack our belongings we had to call for house keeping. ( which it didnt help much)Counters were dirty, windows seals were covered in dust and crumbs from food, All floors were sticky, hand rails on both set of stairs were VERY STICKY (When touched it stayed on your hands) carpet has nasty stains all over it and it feels dirty if you walk on it. I decided not to wear socks in the house one day after a few hours of not wearing socks my feet were black. (I wish I could leave a picture it was bad) I do have to say I feel bad for the owners that their house is rented out in this condition. According to their story they live in Wisconsin and The U.K. and come here for Christmas with their family. It is a very rustic looking home with unbelievable views. I will never rent through Meredith lodging again. My family and I have been renting home on the Oregon coast since the 80's 2 to 3 times a year. Every year. This is one out of 4 homes in all these years that we will not stay at again. (Unless someone else took over the management) I advise you do your homework when looking for vaction rentals.

Best Rental Properties on the Oregon Coast
I've stayed at a handful of different Meredith Lodging properties on the Oregon Coast. Their properties have always been clean and well appointed. They also have some of the most amazing views. Booking is simple, everything can be done online. Checking in and out of the properties is a breeze. I know a lot of people out there book with Air BnB or Vrbo, but if the property is managed by Meredith. Book direct with them and save a little money on fees. Can't wait to stay at one of there properties again in the near future.

Absolutely Scammers- AVOID at ALL Cost!
Absolutely scammers! Be Aware and do your homework. They listed property that was fully heated in Big Bear. When we got there the heater was from 1940s and it was shared between three rooms. The last room was below freezing and no portable heater was provided. They refused to provide any credit or even apologize! Never booking with them again. They waited for month before responding on Airbnb so that I couldn't leave review there, super sketchy stuff. Also, in their response they said we told them late, but they had reviews saying they needed space heater in that room, but yet no actions and thus continued poor experiences for renters. They are pretending to not know issues instead of just sticking a $10 heater cos they don't want people using electricity. (I suspect).

They canceled 1 day prior to reservation
My family booked a reservation last Thanksgiving. I was contacted a day prior to the booking and the representative stated that the booking was no longer available because of "robberies" in the area. Then another representative told me it was because of a plumbing issue. I was offered alternatives (still near the supposed robberies lol) with less rooms and no ocean view. Needless to say this was infuriating and quite obvious that the owners decided to use the property.
Not only did I have to fight to get refunded but they said I would need to pay the 30% cancelation fee. Obviously I didn't cancel and so I shouldn't have to pay for their incompetence. I was not offered any compensation for the trouble or any future credit.
The really crappy part is I had family that had flown in and we had no where for them to sleep... I will never again consider this company and will continue going out of my way to warn others unless meredith decides to make this right.

Horrible customer service
I’m extremely disappointed with the customer service from Meredith Lodging. I booked one of their properties for a special birthday getaway, only to be informed, after the cancellation policy had passed, that the oven wouldn’t be working. Since our trip included baking a birthday cake and cooking a special dinner, this was a huge issue. Instead of offering a fair resolution, they refused to refund my deposit and suggested I ‘rearrange’ my vacation plans to work around their broken oven—using hot pads and a toaster oven instead. I spent over $1,000 for 2 nights with every intention of cooking all of meals onsite. This is unacceptable customer service, and I want others to be aware before booking with this company!

This is place is a joke
This place was a complete joke . When we got to the rental and ended up seeing blood on the sheet in a bedroom it made us sick wondering how they can say they cleaned it and or charge so much. We took photos and sent it to the company and what we got was a email after our stay in response stating they would refund half of the cleaning deposit. So they admitted they didn't clean the unit to the company's standards or even normal health standards leaving blood on a sheet. After trying to reach a reasonable resolution Tracy responds with our decision is final. Well Tracy what we were trying to work out with your company to make it a acceptable resolution instead your losing a customer and I hope others read this before they stay with your company.
No body offered to send a cleaning crew out as nobody responded until after we checked out.. I sent a photo of the blood sheet and I was completely disgusted in how I was treated when finding blood on a bedroom sheet at a place you control and your housekeeping team didn't clean.. a refund on 100 was a joke to offer for finding blood and a 10 percent discount on a future was a waste of time as I was disappointed and disgusted with the first stay. That has never been made right . I requested half my money back and a future stay on you to show me how you guys hold yourself to cleanliness.
