Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the user experience, finding the app and website difficult to navigate and less intuitive than previous versions. Customers frequently reported issues with the app's functionality, including problems with displaying information, slow loading times, and a general decrease in the amount of useful data available. The new design, with its dark color scheme and cluttered layout, was also a common point of frustration, making it hard to read and interpret information. A significant number of users also experienced inaccuracies with location services, with the app often failing to correctly identify their current position or allowing them to save preferred locations. Furthermore, many found the product itself to be less reliable, particularly regarding the accuracy of weather forecasts and the absence of previously valued features like surface pressure videos and long-range forecasts.

Kafka rules Okay

For Christ's Sake!
Now if you change your location from the old format website it switches location but redisplays the info back on the diabolical new format and you have to hit the 'goback to old design' yet again. Will the self serving dinosaurs who have implemented this garbage get it into their thick skulls that I want to stay on the old website until it disappears and then I will go elsewhere.
I submitted a FOI request for them to publish their feedback over the last 8 month and they replied that there was so much it would cost over £750 in man-hours so the rules say they needn't do it. What kind of freedom of information is that? Getting lots of negative feedback -> Lets them off the hook and at their unilateral discretation. I GIVE UP!

Disgusted

Disgusted that this app does not recognise my location.
Cannot give feedback because it said close page due to hackers.
It’s so gloomy and black makes you want to slit your wrists.
They need to go back to their previous app, whoever thought this ‘new’ app up needs retraining🤬

The Met Office wind predictions…

The Met Office wind predictions consistently have a very large difference between the wind speed and wind gust speed. For example giving a wind speed of 10 knots with gusts to 30 knots over an hour. While sometimes this is possible it is also unusual in real life, and much more unusual than the met Office predictions would suggest. The large difference makes risk assessing wind dependent activities like watersports very difficult and drives me away from the met Office.

Poor predictions

In particular I have been relying on the forecast a little more than usual in the period 19 - 27 th March whilst walking in Scotland . Overall I have been quite disappointed in the accuracy of its predictions , even as little as 24 hours in advance . I would estimate the overall accuracy in this period to be around 25 - 30 % at best - surely with all the modern technology they profess to have they can be better than this . The MWIS forecasts were slighly better and attempt to predict no more than 72 hrs ahead , even so they were generally more on the pessimistic ( playing it safe ? ) side . To day on the 28th in Merseyside area was meant to deteriorate to rain by mid day - actually very bright day and sunny all day to time of writing ( 4.30 pm ) - blue sky !

New weather app is unclear

New weather app is unclear, looks like a cheap commercial site, contains less relevant information than the old site which was clear, user friendly and informative. Using coloured backgrounds to reflect the forecast gives a mostly inaccurate and misleading image of the weather in real life. Time to scrap it and return to the original page

I have previously rated the new met…

I have previously rated the new met office app as 1 star. I deleted it as it was so bad. Apparently the met office are responding to feedback and putting some features they had removed. I thought I would give it another go but l cannot download the latest version. Checked all my phones settings but no go.

Negative stars would be more…

Negative stars would be more appropriate. The latest app at March 26 is very close to useless. Looks terrible although a fortune has clearly been spent on the design. But there real killer ideas that it's no use for anyone who actually needs to know what the weather's going to do. It's been set up so that commuters know if they need an umbrella. If you want more, don't bother.

Typical gaslighting middle management

Typical gaslighting middle management, not listening to users. The new app needs binning. And someone needs sacking. Myself I have unticked auto update in Play and download previous version from apkmirror.

Where’s the jet stream

Liked previous app this ‘improvement’ is terrible. They charged me to keep using long range forecast and then deleted it and said charge was for removing adverts. Scammed as well as receiving a hard to navigate App If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it
