DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THEIR CLAIMED 10 YEAR WARRANTY.

I have a Mitsubishi ASX. I've had to take it for warranty repairs 4 times to fix the same problem as Mitsubishi dealer service couldn't fix it the first 3 times. I had a subsequent bit of warranty work done to repair damage caused by repairing the first issue! A professionally fitted child seat was removed and I was advised it would be refitted by a professional as part of the warranty work. It wasn't and was loose and dangerous but they wouldn't discuss it with me further. Now I have tried to book my car for more warranty work but no one will respond to my calls, emails, online requests, etc. The couple of times I did get hold of someone they brushed me off and made excuses once they heard it was warranty work. I tried for months to get a dealership across Melbourne and even country Victoria but nothing. I contacted Mitsubishi Australia who were worse than useless and said the dealerships were independently owned and there was nothing they could do. I reminded them that they represented Mitsubishi and had to honour the warranty provided by Mitsubishi..... I got nothing but the sound of crickets. I then contacted Mitsubishi HQ in Japan and they told me to speak to Mitsubishi Australia, who had told me to speak to the dealers, who would not book my car for warranty work. If that is not bad enough, they said they would want $300+ upfront for the warranty work in case they decided it wasn't worthy of being under the warranty. I was never asked for money up front the other 5 times I had warranty work done! How would I know as a lay-person, what aspects of the car would be considered wear and tear as opposed to being covered by warranty? They provide no guidance for this and it will be a $300+ gamble for you to find out! They need your car for the day just to look at it (no work done), and you won't get a complementary car in the meantime. Mitsubishi Australia said that the dealerships would know what is and is not covered by warranty.....this will not save my $300+ to find out. Furthermore, I pointed out that these 'experts' are the same people that took 4 attempts to fix my minor issue and then caused damage that they had to repair. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THEIR CLAIMED 10 YEAR WARRANTY. THEY STATE THIS BECAUSE THEY WILL DO ALL THEY CAN TO DENY YOUR CLAIMS AND CHARGE YOU FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. THE CHINESE CAR MAKERS ARE PROVIDING A FAR MORE TRANSPARENT WARRANTY.
