Merrill Lynch is the absolute worst…

Merrill Lynch is the absolute worst company. I've ever experienced in my entire life that people do nothing but lie to you play games, then call you consistently, there's anything we can do to help you, please let us know you'd let them know what they could do, and then they just ignore it and have somebody else call you ask you. If there's something they can do to help yet, nothing ever gets resolved, hold on to your money and refuse to pay it. They're one crooked company.I don't recommend anybody to use these thieves beware. If you do plan on getting ripped off and lied to and strung along for months

Unprofessional Customer Service

I have an account with them that is depreciating. I decided I was going to liquidated after eight years. I called customer service and told a story of my previous call to a wrong number. They took it as me being a scammer. I’m a very talkative person. I like to make people smile and try to have a little conversation with everybody. I gave them all my information, including my Social Security and it wasn’t enough to verify me. They wouldn’t explain to me why and then a customer representative called me a woman when I’m a man and I didn’t even get upset about it at the time. At the end of the conversation after talking to a supervisor, he told me that he was going to “black flag” me and write a message saying that he wasn’t going to let anybody conduct any business with me at all. But that is my money with my name on the account and they are holding it hostage now

Unprofessional Customer Service and Supervisor

My fiancé had an IRA with Merrill and wanted to close the account. He’s a light hearted person by nature and told the costumer service rep about dialing the wrong number right before contacting them. For whatever reason they put him as high risk and said the only way to cash out was to physically go to a BOA and have the teller call for verification. A story hardly seams like a reason to think he would be scamming someone! The rep and supervisor black flagged him so no one would do business with him. This was bc he raised his voice to them. That is unprofessional and it is his money, not theirs!

Closed my account because their site is…

Closed my account because their site is confusing and cumbersome. I think they are trying to do too much. Had it been better segmented, it would have been more user friendly. Ended up making a mistake and signed up for a 5 yr CD instead of 1. Only to find out when I thought it was to time to renew. Ended up closing my account and taking a small loss. I decided to look up to see if others felt the same way.

My advisor at Merrill was an…

My advisor at Merrill was an acquaintance that 3 people highly recommended. He said he was a fiduciary and had to act in my interest. Then he put $30k in Sreit in Sept 2023. I later learned that it was in distress and gated in Nov 2022. Of course Merrill says all was done according to their standards. Be warned, stay away

Won't rollover my 401K money to a different company

These guys are incompetent in the extreme. About 3 years ago I closed my 401K and I have tried at least 3 times to get them to send my money to Fidelity and they seem to think it's theirs. I've sent them letters. Fidelity has sent them letters. There's never any response; they are just quietly earning interest on my money. There's also no way to contact them after hours, no email, just phone, so if you want to communicate with them outside of Eastern time business hours, good luck. I will never do business with these people again.

Just a miserable company that I would never recommend to anyone in the entire galaxy

Fees, lack of help and then when you talk to them over the phone its like its their first day on the job. I swear I always get the first day on the job person. I know its the company making me wait, but i told the person that I was being charged for the call and it was as if they didnt care at all and then they sent me the wrong form that I didnt ask for. A company that preys on the old money for their lack of research and dont care for the new generation and their knowledge. I fell into their trap because of the generation before me suggested them, I will never allow anyone going forward to use this POS ever, they say you are using their most aggressive portfolio, then they put you in a moderate account because they are scared if your account goes down too much at one time that you will leave.... well I want high risk I understand lost... also I pay to talk to a competent person... not a first day person.. Miserable year with them, from investing to pulling my money out... horrible company in every aspect, never bank with BOFA.. theres a reason that should end with deeze nutz because it is a horrible company.

Locked Out Of Account

Merrill Lynch randomly locked us out of our account, providing a phone number to supposedly resolve the issue. After the usual talk-to-a-machine dance, the employee on the phone rudely instructed us to go to a branch to verify our identity and claimed there was no other way to resolve the problem.
Although we followed their instructions to the letter, they continue to refuse us access. This is very frustrating, and it appears the company sets it up so their employees frequently cannot help their customers. Their own policies set everyone up unnecessarily for misunderstanding and conflict.
I'd love to see them change their stance to support service and harmony.

Scam company

Honestly, I didn't believe it at first.
But that name in the profile picture kept showing up in success stories.
I gave it one last try glad I did.

So Happy To Have Closed My Merrill Accounts

I have accounts in 3 other investment firms. I have Merrill through my company. Merrill is horrible in every aspect. Even their own people can't figure out the difference in accounts (ESPP Account, Corp Equity account, Brokerage account). There's three URLs to deal with; benefits site, mymerrill site, the merrill site. Had an issue in the past with wash sale - their support was clueless. I've left my company so I tried to close my accounts. Five different people about 45 minutes. So happy I'm now out.

Avoid Merrill Lynch Missoula, MT

I invested 25000 with Solon Linton at Merrill Lynch in Missoula, MT. After losing half of my money in the market he dumped me as a client. He never spoke with me and sent a check in the mail. Secretary said he didn't want to handle smaller accounts. Avoid Merrill Lynch and Solon Linton at all costs. Extremely toxic culture, dishonest, and no communication on important matters.
