Cars that don't exist and practices that aren't ethical or even legal

This company is also known as Witham Specialist Vehicles. Beware.

Terrible company with awful cocky salesmen. Ridiculously old fashioned and they simply would rather put obstacles in your way and laugh at you than sell you the car. I have had huge difficulty buying one of their so called bargains (you can see the cheapness of the cars that are supposedly genuinely on sale). To the point where they just said actually they don't want to sell it to me. How mysterious.

It seems to me that actually these cheap Land Rover cars don't really exist and it is just a ruse or 'bait and switch" scam technique to get enquiries and hope they will sell something else.

Don't waste your time with these cowboys. Very dodgy. I am going to ask trading standards to investigate the authenticity of their processes. Bait and switch and advertising things that don't exist or can't be sold is illegal. Beware.

The worst auction house I have ever…

The worst auction house I have ever dealt with in over 30 years. Items not as listed, reserves altered and unethical. Paul Southerington is rude and aggressive and has zero customer skills.

Bid on bidspotter for some oil

Bid on bidspotter for some oil, the bid was below reserve and was told by bidspotter that we had lost. Then a woman rang from MOD sales ( also called Witham) to say we had to pay for the oil! They then said that they wanted £35 for a cardboard box! This was followed by a rude and threatening man who said they would charge £28 a day extra if we didnt pay for the oil that we had NOT won!! These people are VERY nasty do NOT deal with them. ( they are also called Witham specialist vehicles)

great purchasing experience.

8/23 I saw their ad for a Land Rover Defender.
I registered with MOD-Sales.
I went to see it.
Was treated with courtesy and helpfulness.
it was ex police. 76K on clock.
I bid. no one else did. (although the website did say it had failed to reach its reserve). A week later at the end auction date they rang to say it's yours.
They had it ready when I went to collect it.
It passed its mot in my garage and I was told it was in fantastic condition. It Purrs!
I was delighted.
I had a great deal.

Blatant racism

My friend bid on a lot and was looking forward to seeing if he was successful.
Then he received a call from a guy called Paul ( auctioneer) who having determined my friend was a muslim declined my friends bid stating that he thought the item would be exported and therefore needed a security bond despite my friend being a UK citizen and passport holder and residing in London.
My friend confirmed he is UK VAT registered and that he had no intention of exporting .
He then asked Paul why on earth he was asking for a security deposit when the bidding is still live !!
Paul then became extremely agitated and after some verbal abuse stated he was blocking my friend from bidding and hung up !!
I was asked to mediate by my friend and as a former soldier after what then transpired in my call with the auctioneer I can only hope the MOD review their dealings with this firm .

There is nothing in their Ts & Cs to demand a security deposit during a live auction from a UK citizen who is VAT registered and the bidding is still ongoing and the customer has declared " not for export "

This guy then also hung up on me and blocked me from bidding .

DO NOT buy from these people , this was blatant racism

Got to wait while staff have a cigarette break

Was down last Friday to collect a load, was told staff take lunch 12-1, so arrived 1.10, was held at security gate because girl in accounts wanted her lunch break. turned out she wanted to smoke a cigarette, so she turned up at smokers shed next to security gate. At 1.50 guard lets me in after other wagons get in to drop loads off. Goes to accounts office and 'customer is always right' girl refuses to sort out my paperwork and other girl has to step in,

This place has always treated customers as s*** thank god they have lost MOD contract.
