MoneyGram Review – Fraud Complaint (2026)
In October 2023, I sent two MoneyGram transfers from the Post Office in Birmingham:
* 24 October 2023 – MoneyGram Reference 642******, total paid £793 (£750 transfer + £43 fee).
* 30 October 2023 – MoneyGram Reference 763*****, total paid £793 (£750 transfer + £43 fee).
The total amount I paid was £1,586.
After discovering that I had been the victim of fraud, I reported the matter to MoneyGram and provided all the requested information, including my receipts and transaction details. I also reported the fraud to Action Fraud and later referred my complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
Despite following the correct procedures and making repeated attempts to resolve the matter, I did not receive the support or refund I expected. I am very disappointed with MoneyGram’s complaint-handling process and the lack of a satisfactory resolution.
As a customer, I expected a thorough investigation, clear communication, and timely responses. Instead, I experienced delays and an outcome that left me feeling unsupported after becoming the victim of fraud.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend MoneyGram’s customer service or complaint-handling process. I hope the company improves its fraud prevention measures, investigates reported scams more effectively, and provides better support to customers who become victims of fraud.

Very disappointing experience with…
Very disappointing experience with MoneyGram. My $1,000 transfer from the USA to Kuwait has been stuck for 8 days due to an error on MoneyGram's side.
The receipt clearly shows my complete legal name, but MoneyGram's system did not record it correctly, and because of this mistake I have been unable to receive my money.
This payment was needed for an important renewal service. Because I did not receive the funds on time, I have faced additional penalties and financial losses (around $100 per day). I am suffering losses because of a problem that was not caused by me.
I have contacted customer support, but representatives take more than 24 hours to reply. I have also visited multiple agent locations in Kuwait, and some did not have sufficient cash available. This has caused unnecessary stress, wasted time, and multiple trips in Kuwait's extreme summer heat.
A global money transfer company should resolve such issues quickly and take responsibility when errors occur. I expect better service and an immediate resolution.

Moneygram advertise no hidden fee , yet provide option to receive money in local currency. When trying to receive the transfer, all local agents will refuse to pay in local currency and you will be forced to cancel and change the transaction. This will lead to fees that money gram refuse to refund. I WOULD NOT USE THIS BUSINESS AGAIN
