Morley College London Reviews 

I completed a L2 Certificate in Event Planning with Morley College via the Skills Network and passed my last unit subject to moderation in May 2022.
To this day, I still haven't received my certificate saying I passed the course.
I was first told it took around 2 months to get my certificate. Then in July the Skills Network told me I needed to contact the college directly which I did, they told me to contact the tutors who then told me I might need to wait a bit longer.
We then received an email saying we would get our certificates in October and nothing. The contact email address I was given bounces back every time I try to contact.
I spent hours of my free time, alongside my full time job for this certificate which I did as part of professional development and almost a year later I still haven't got the qualification to account for it.
Really poor service honestly!

I was enrolled at Morley college Online, automatically when I registered for a funded course through The Skills Network. I submitted assignments for units 1 and 2 on the 8th and 11th January 2023. Today (16th feb) I have finally had Unit 2 marked as ‘passed subject to moderation’. No feedback, no comments and no contact whatsoever from my so called tutor. Unit 1 has also not been marked as yet.
I have emailed The skills network, the Morley college head of department and my ‘tutor’ several times and received no reply. And in the meantime I continue to receive automatic emails telling me my NEXT assignment is due soon…… which I have absolutely no intention of putting work into and submitting until the rest is marked!
Utterly, utterly useless!

Morley College, Waterloo is not the friendly place it once was. The website is misleading, and lacks clear information about courses and forthcoming events taking place at the different venues of the college. The Open Day which I had thought was taking place at the Waterloo Centre was, in fact, at another venue.

The newly refurbished entrance and reception area at the Waterloo Centre are impressive, but unwelcoming and people were there using laptops. I didn’t know why. Staff at reception were off-hand and patronising. I have experienced this twice recently.

The college is overrun all day on Saturdays by school children. I hadn’t realised this until today! Morley is supposed to be an Adult Education Centre, not a school.

The organisers of the event I attended recently said that I hadn’t paid, even though I had paid online in advance. Luckily, I had printed out the receipt for my payment, which I was able to produce.

My visit to Morley College Waterloo today was a disappointing experience. I went to the canteen for a coffee, but school children occupied every table, and it was very difficult to get a seat.

I left the college feeling let down, lonely, upset and very sad. I love Morley College, and really wanted to take a course. I had travelled a long way, but I don’t want to be made to feel unwelcome . That is not the aim of Morley College. That is not what adult education is about.

Bring back the friendly face of Morley College, Waterloo, before it is too late! Morley has a fine reputation. Please don’t ruin it now.

My course was cancelled so I asked for further information about another similar course and received a reply a week later saying they were very busy and couldn't reply. After another few days received a reply saying the course I applied for was cancelled which I knew anyway. Sadly the admin staff I have dealt with don't seem able to read emails or answer questions. This is very frustrating as the only way to get information about the courses is to ask questions. It seems the admin staff don't try to help prospective students with choosing appropriate courses. Something needs to improve to provide a focused customer service.

Not helpful. When I enquired about a course, admin got back to me a week and a half later. They simply told me to "check the website" and to contact the relevant course tutor. Surely, it would have been easier to just forward my query to the tutor rather than give me a complete non-answer?

I had an interview with someone from Morley about learning assistance. I thought it would be pretty straightforward because I had one before. The last time I had the interview the person was friendly, and the questions asked were obviously relevant, but the second time the interviewer asked questions I'm not sure were even relevant to supporting someone with learning difficulties, and something about the way she asked about my education seemed judgemental. I can't quite put my finger on it, but the communication left me with a bad taste, so to speak. It almost makes me wish I hadn't asked for support.

I have thought for a long time about writing this but it has to be said especially as the college themselves do not seem to care. I have offered to speak numerous times to them about this face to face or over chat and it has been ignored at every level.
I am neurodiverse. Meaning I have specific needs. Despite this and having an assessment done by Morley, some tutors did not like my accommodations and some refused to entertain them -dark glasses for example.
I was lectured numerous times for asking questions for clarity. One tutor thought that drawing penises as doodles online (I have numerous examples of this on photos and on videos) was acceptable.
I have attended institutions all over the world and frankly this college is absolutely at the bottom of the list. There are some decent teachers -especially in the English department-but they are wasted in such a shambolic centre.
The sheer number of mistakes they made over exam dates and even getting the qualifications sent to me are the kind of ineptitude you would see in a carry on film. Two years on I still don’t have my actual certifications and I am having to go through the examination board to get this remedied. Because Morley do not reply to messages or emails. It’s a shoddy excuse for a college. When you also consider literal millions have been poured into the place over the last three years it does make you wonder just how they manage to keep running when the vast majority of learners are not given the services they pay for.

My mother is suffering from dementia and being a teacher had no knowledge of how to help her so decided to enrol in one of these free courses sponsered by the government. Took four months whilst they finally agreed funding and then I started the course. The first unit was absolutely loaded with information and was only given 10 days to get through it. As a teacher this amount was far in excess of what a level 2 course should require. When I finally submitted the first assignment it was returned to me stating that insufficient information had been put into my assignment which I had obtained from the workbook as I was completely ignorant of the subject. I was told that I needed to submit information from the work I did and found out that the course expected me to have been working as a carer. As a teacher I had no opportunity to do this so my only observations could be from my mother. I was given two videos to look at which should furrnish me with the extra information.
I asked if this would be the same for all the modules ie that I would need to add extra information other than from the workbook and they said this would be necessary - this should have been pointed out at the point of enrolling but was not. I said that I would need to continually resubmit work then because videos were only offered after work had been submitted?
As a teacher I was absolutely disgusted with the level of advice I was given before enrolling in the course. If I had known that this was aimed at people already working as carers then I would not have joined the course and instead just obtained a few books from the library. As such, I now forfeit £140 because I have decided not to proceed.
Again, the level is not pitched appropriately. A level 2 qualification is equal to that of gcse. I have a first class honours degree and was struggling with the amount of content that was enclosed just in the first module. I think OFQUAL will be very interested to see how this organisation is working. Also, even though it is run by Morley College it was a college down in the Bristol area? A little suspicious in my books.
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF.

The worst course i have ever attended. I would never attend Morley college in the future and certainly would not recommend anyone do so either. Communication was poor at induction, during and post course. Teaching was appalling for the first two terms and although we recieved a new tutor in the final term it was too little too late as morale and motivation were at an extreme low. The majority of the course was self taught and the level of stress i was under just to complete it was insurmountable. When we complained & requested a refund countless emails were ignored. Months after the course was complete we recieved a poor excuse for a refund which did not equate to the level of stress we had been put through, furthermore we recieved no correspondence as to how the amount had been reached or the fact this decison had even occured and were only made a aware by a fellow student who was told she had recieved a refund.

My son is starting on the ESports course and out of all the colleges we have looked at the admissions and the additional needs departments here have been amazing. The course tutor actually called him and spent time with him. The kids are not just a number here they seem to matter and im very impressed so far. He has been inspired by this college. Ruby in admissions emailed immediately and is very efficient. The ESports course seems excellent here.

I have been coming to Morley college for many years for fantastic Photography classes and keeping fit with dance. I really enjoy the classes as the teachers are very knowledgeable and patient, and everyone is so friendly. The concerts and talks are a great part of the college and I can't wait for them to come back when coronavirus is over. One problem is that there are too many qualifications and levels now, it's confusing. I think management should stick to what Morley is good at- short courses and hobby classes for adults to enjoy. I think courses that can help people get ahead at work like public speaking and book keeping are very useful, but not degrees! That's what the open university is for.

I joined an online dance class to keep fit in lockdown. There were some teething issues with the tech but the teacher was really knowledgeable and did a great job despite the circumstances. I would recommend to the college that they invest in technical support for teachers. I think the classes are well priced, it seems expensive at first when you see the full amount but when you divide it by the weeks it's quite reasonable for the expertise of the teacher. I had fun learning online with Morley college and will be attending more dance classes there when it is safe to do so.

Awful admissions department,incompetent staff. clearly in need of further training as they don't know what they are doing at all. complete time wasters!! i would not recommend wasting your time with this college. There are much better adult colleges in London.

Took my money for an online course, failed to send through the log on details to attend the course despite me chasing them the day before and the day of the course. Over a month has passed and I'm still waiting for my refund. Hopeless.

If you are thinking of studying here for a HND Qualification here DONT!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE they will give you a lovely talk how great the college is and show you round the departments and slick refurbishments that they have spent your money from student loans on. once you have applied they will take your money from your student loan and not give a c##p about you after that. Teachers won’t bother to turn up for classes are barely trained in their field and most are there to get the pay cheque one teacher was stupid enough to tell me their pay which was £38 PER HOUR and this is the standard of teaching we get????? The head of departments don’t care about any of your concerns on the course and how it’s run, I wasted all my time and energy on this place and ended up getting so stressed on trying to get work completed but couldn’t due to lack of teaching help and unprofessionalism from some teachers, had a total of x6 teachers for one subject in a total of 8 month period as lots kept leaving and We were expected to be able to do an exam by the end of term when We had learned absolutely nothing (No Joke). I didnt gain any experience or any further skills on the HND here and if you want an honest opinion of studying here I would go to the many other colleges in the area there are plenty in London and wish I had applied elsewhere. These people have one intention and that’s to take your money for doing as little as possible, as cheaply as possible. The tutors are there for one reason; they are failing to earn enough from the profession they teach, and that is if you are lucky enough to have a tutor that is actually competent in the subject. This is cheap and nasty education!
If you are unlucky enough to have some problem, which is very likely as they are totally incompetent, you will be treated like dirt, they make it pretty obvious that they consider their clients as the mugs they are fleecing and meet them with contempt.
What they fail to understand is that mature adults seeking education are likely to be highly intelligent and competent in their field, but simply have a desire to learn something new.
