Product details

Organic medium roasted yaupon tea ( Ilex vomitoria) is a delicious brew native to the Southern United States. A tasty, smooth, and naturally sweet tea, yaupon was used by the indigenous peoples of the region for thousands of years and has recently been rediscovered and has become widely available. This holly-like plant is the northern cousin of the yerba maté and guayusa plants of South America. Hardy and drought resistant, yaupon is the only naturally caffeinated plant native to North America, growing wildly in the Southern U.S. stretching from Texas to North Carolina. In comparison to the more familiar teas brewed from the Camellia sinensis plant, yaupon has no tannins, making it difficult to over-steep and does not become bitter easily. Contains Caffeine For more information about the history and recent rediscovery of yaupon, please read our blog, Yaupon: Rediscovering America’s Forgotten Tea (mountainroseherbs.com). Aroma and Flavor Pleasantly aromatic with a mild and smooth flavor creating a comforting and balanced brew with a natural sweetness and subtle caramel notes. It is a delicious brew that can be served both hot and cold. Brew Instructions Fill 1 teaspoon of tea in a cloth tea bag or mesh basket and place in your favorite mug. Pour 8 ounces of boiling water over the tea and allow to steep for 3-5 minutes or until desired strength is reached.

So yummy, and it gives me a boost without giving me the shakes or making me nervous like coffee does. Plus, I steeped it for longer than I had intended, and it was not bitter at all. Love it and will be ordering more! Thank you!

.I enjoy Yaupon tea. Unfortunately, my bushes died early this year. Your medium roast is good.
