The Mountfield SP185 self-propelled lawn mower is powered by the 139cc Stiga ST140 Autochoke OHV engine. The Autochoke system on the engine automatically sets the choke to give optimum starting and running in all conditions. With 6 cutting heights to choose from, depending on the length of grass you are cutting, ranging from 22-65mm, you can ensure a top-quality finish and being self-propelled there is no need to push, ideal if your lawn has slopes.It has a hard-wearing steel deck with a 46cm cutting width and skid plate which reduces scalping of the lawn. The large 60-litre grass collector comes with a bag full warning indicator so you can see when it needs emptying. With the mulching plug fitted there is no need to collect the grass as it recycles the clippings onto the lawn for a natural fertiliser. It also comes with a 2-year warranty.

Assembly easy topped up with oil petrol started first time

It seemed ok at first but after a few cuts the Self Propelled stopped working. When I called them they basically said they would send instructions and a video on how to fix it myself! It was only a few weeks old, so it’s obviously a design fault as my previous machine lasted 17 years without problems! For that reason I would be careful with purchase.

It works well and is easy to start. I lost one of the lower tightening bolts with the three pronged black handle on my first use. My big issue is filling with oil. It is very difficult to access the filler cap unless you use a small narrow funnel. Also the dipstick tends to pick up oil from the filler tube thus masking what the reading is.

Its a really good mower for the price. Engine wise, it seems to have plenty power. The deck is fully sealed underneath, making it easier to clean. The grassbox is a bit flimsy.

I felt the product and instruction sit great to assemble

This product arrived with parts missing so havent been able to try it out.After 3 weeks still waiting for a guide spring,washer and nut!!!

I purchased this mower via the web. The mower arrived timely, in a box, and notes (pictures) for assembly. Presumably I need words i addition to pictures? Some pictures apply to one version of the model and not others. Challenging!!! However the mower works well and I look forward to as many years of happy mowing as I had with the previous Mountfield.

I HAVENT USED THE LAWNMOWER YET. I PUT IT TOGETHER BY USING A DEMONSTRATION ON Y-TUBE AS THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL WAS DIFFICULT YO FOLLOW. I PURCHASED MY LAWNMOWER AT B&Q WHO DONT SELL THE OIL YOU NEED ONLY SELLS 2 STROKE OIL WHICH IS RIDICULOUS AS WE BOUGHT THE LAWNMOWER THERE. WILL USE IN THE NEXTVWEEK OR SO. I TRIED TO BUY OIL FOR MY CHAINSAW THEY DIDN'T SELL THAT EITHER WHICH I ALSO PURCHASED THERE
