Careless electritions

Left our home in a right state . Burnt the bedroom carpet with a drill. We had to have a new fuse box. Then told all the wiring had to be done for the lights to work. We were without lights for a week. The light switches which they changed had the wrong covers on to match the actual fitting.Which they did come and replace them. Didn't take the old wiring down so the cellar has still got all the old wiring in. The engineers seemed to be nice but rubbish at their jobs .Hopefully this review will help someone . !!!!@

keen to take your money

keen to take your money, not so keen to provide simple evidence of works and reports. have sent multiple enquiries via the site - nothing, called x3 times on friday and each time promised someone would call me back asap, but no calls. last person i spoke to simply told me she “didn’t know how to help”. when asked who can help, if not her, she said “don’t know”. am utterly appalled.

Booked an appointment for 1pm which was confirmed by three separate text messages. Had to arrange for someone to be at my house who waited 50 mins. Called up and they said it was between one and two !!! Really rude no apology. Knew appointments was to fit a shower however decided to start asking questions about the shower when they were already 50 mins late!! It was like for like but seemed to be too much trouble. Wish I had read reviews before booking.

Not impressed.

Not impressed.
They fitted an extractor fan in an en - suite bathroom earlier this year. Severe damp problems continued, so called them out to check effectiveness of the fan. They did so in May - and charged me a further £90, yes £90, for the privilege.
I am only raising now because further investigations by someone else have shown that the fan was not actually connected to the ducting!
Would not recommend.

Customer's time is not valued

Tried getting an appointment booked over email - didn't work because apparently they were having "internet problems". Then when I called up, my message wasn't passed on to get it booked. Later one Friday morning I get contacted if I'd be at home that day for the visit - as if I don't have anything else to do on a weekday. Yet, I thought I'd give them a chance and asked for an appointment a week later, which was confirmed for the morning.

The day of the appointment, as the electrician didn't show up by afternoon; I called to inquire. But the engineer told me that he wasn't in office, so he'd give me a call an hour later. When I finally did get a call, I had to provide all the information about the booking as if it was the first time. And then I get an apology and a question asking whether I could do some other day the week after.

I had it made very clear that I'm taking time off from work to accommodate their schedule, despite which, it was as though they don't value my time at all. I then managed to contact another business for the same which was able to book me in for the weekend, no faff.

Wouldn't recommend

My elderly mother had a problem with the electrics in her house. The electrics kept tripping out resulting in her having no electricity. I called Mr Electric as it said on their website that they were 24hr emergency electricians and not wanting to leave my mother without any electricity I gave them a call. The electrician came out the following day and had a look at the problem. He said that it was a problem with the ring main on the house and as it was late in the afternoon (4 pm) he didn't have time to fix it. He recommended running an extension from the external garage into the house so she could watch TV and then to call another electrician. He was very polite and didn't charge, but I needed to get this problem sorted for my mother as quickly as possible.
In the end I contacted British gas services who came out the following day. Within 30 minutes he had found the problem and the electricity was all back on within the hour. I just wish I had tried British gas first. It would have saved my mother a lot of anguish.

Homeserver Alliance Picked them... What a bunch of cowboys

Bought a Nest, and while unrelated- the installer that got picked by the HomeServer alliance was sadly Mr Electric.

What a waste of time and money; the guy arrived spent 5 minutes looking at the boiler and said he didnt have time and left. He meanwhile told Nest the install took place so he could receive his payment.

He then followed up with an offer of £85 additional for them to come and do the install the following week (totally fraudulent - Nest were not happy when I told them).

Had to go all the way to CC'ing in the CEO of Nest complaining before eventually they sent someone else around (Help-Link) who completed the install in 20 minutes and said they couldn't understand what the problem was - it was a simple install.

While I guess things can be mixed, as it sounds like 'Mr Electric' is just a trading name for many independent people - sadly its totally unaccountable and any compliant get totally ignored.

Do not let one of these cowboys into your home.

Surprise Huge Consultation Fee

I called to around like 9 a.m. and didn't realize I was talking to an answering service. So later that evening my voicemail comes from a person who can actually schedule a technician. So I have to call that person back (little phone tag here). That person gives me a block time to choose and the tech shows up. The problem: The tech tells my husband it is a $185 consultation fee. 10 minutes later I show up and when I question him he changes to $85 but says the job could go up to $300 and something. I call the office person and she says whatever the tech chooses is what it is. I tell him to leave. We get a friend's master electrician who fixes the problem for under a 100.

Let themselves down in the end not finishing the job

Despite contacting Lee Ives many times it is now over 4 months since they finished the job but haven't provided missing bulbs for light fittings nor any receipt/documentation and promised work guarantee / certificate. Really tainted the experience for such trivial items to complete from their point of view. Otherwise a reasonable job although other mistakes were made along the way that had to be corrected.

Everything was fine until inspection

They sent 2 different guys, one left the job without completing it, the second guy undid the work of the first person they sent out and finished the job, but the work did not pass inspection by the town. After that the office became difficult to deal with and even downright rude. A year later, another company found even more errors with their work and I had to pay again for the same job.

Excellent all round service

Called Mr Electric Northampton at 16.00 following our total lighting failure and was told they would be with us at 09.00 the next day. Gareth arrived on time and fixed the problem which was a faulty MCB unit. This was fixed promptly and Gareth also fitted a new ceiling light for us. He tidied up after his work and the charge was reasonable. We have no hesitation in recommending this business and would use them again.

The worst customer service and waste of time

I rang mr electric Cheltenham last Monday to see if he could fix my power shower. I left an answerphone message. 'Bob-mr electric ' text me 2 days later on the Wednesday asking what was wrong with it. I text him the same day explaining. He then didn't text me again until Thursday saying he could have a look into it via Internet over the weekend and come and look at the shower Monday or Tuesday (a week after my initial call) as it was Thursday by then and I was going away that evening I thought I may as well wait until the Monday so I text him back advising of this. Didn't hear anything over the weekend. Just called him this morning (the following Monday) and he said he thought I said I didn't want to use him (he did apoligise for the miscommunication). I said that wasn't the case (I still have the texts) and he said he will look into it and call me back. He then text me half an hour later saying i probably just need a new shower and listed a lot of prices. I text back and said ok well can you come and look and if that's the case we can go from there. He replied saying that it would be too expensive for me to use his company for a new shower and suggested I contact a local electrician!!! Mr electric website says it has free call out and quotes / survey. However he refused to come and actually look at my shower! He could have told me that 7 days ago and I would have gone elsewhere and it would probably be fixed by now! Extremely unprofessional, unreliable and rude.

Terrible Service- No Show

This company is absolutely terrible. I made an appointment for a technician to check some problems I have been experiencing. I was a given a window for the appointment and stayed at home waiting. At the end of the window someone called me, and gave me a quote of their hourly rate and then asked me to schedule an appointment. Consequently I wasted my entire afternoon for nothing.

Would give 0 stars if I could

Mr Electric came to our property on the instruction of HomeServe to rectify a fault with our fuse box. After 20 minutes of faffing around, the engineer (who seemed to have less knowledge than I did - and I have next to nothing when it comes to electricity) told me we needed a new fuse box and it would cost close to £1,000.

When I queried the price, he muttered something unintelligible and told me the company would be in touch. Funnily enough, they haven't bothered.

I have subsequently contacted three companies for a quote and each was less than half that price.

And we have been left without any power in our kitchen as a result of this man's inept handling of the situation - no cooker, no washing machine, no power to our boiler so no hot water. Fuming doesn't come close.

I've subsequently learned that many of their electricians have only the very basic qualifications, gained on a 1 day course. Doesn't surprise me.

Avoid these con artists like the plague.
