They took my earnings

I had an account with money earned. One day I go to log in and it says my account is suspended so I reach out to their support team and I am met with this email "Hello,

Thank you for contacting Amazon Payments.

After reviewing your account, we were unable to verify the information that you provided during account registration.

At this point, your account registration has been suspended. We request that you open a new account using a different email address than the email address you originally used. For security reasons, your original email address cannot be used to reopen an Amazon Payments account.

They won't tell me WHAT they couldn't verify, they wont give me an opportunity to do anything about this...and the real kicker was I had this account for YEARS before they allege they couldn't verify me.

Don't bother applying as they probably wont accept you so they can keep all the money. Why even have the site visible?
May as well lock it down or blocking people from joining i guess everyone is useless to them
I am testing these platforms for my Blog. I see many will fail

Refused registration without explanation

Refused registration without explanation. Provided a link to technical support, the last one after requesting clarification on the refusal - said that I was blocked and asked not to write to them anymore.
There were only two requests:
1) request for registration
2) request for another refusal

I consider such an appeal unacceptable and unprofessional - it is a disgrace for Amazon! I believe that if my friends and I do not order anything else on this platform - this is the least that can be done. Do not encourage this lack of professionalism, rudeness and unprofessionalism! Because there will be no end to it!

I had a highly disappointing experience…

I had a highly disappointing experience with Amazon Mechanical Turk. Despite initially reaching out to validate my expertise and inviting me to join as an expert, the company was completely non-transparent and later refused to move forward with the opportunity without providing any clear reason. This lack of communication and transparency is deeply demoralizing, especially when you’ve been approached by them in the first place. Such practices erode trust and leave a negative impression. Unfortunately, this platform falls short of expectations, and I wouldn't recommend it.

FAR more legitimate than most.

You have to grade these sites on a curve. Mturk isn't a great way to make money, but it's MILES better than most GPT sites. Scams like lootably and adgem will just make you work for free and crowdtap will straight up steal money from you. For some extra pocket change here and there, mturk is legit. I use this and prolific just to make a couple of dollars per day and have that set aside in another account to take care of nice-to-haves. I basically do a survey here and there during times where someone else might normally play candy crush or something and that's enough to essentially cover the cost of a gaming laptop replacement every 5 years with extra change to spare.

I do not advise relying on these sites as a primary source of income unless you have absolutely no other choice, and even then I strongly suggest looking for something better ASAP. The very, very best GPT sites are good for making extra pocket change, not for sustaining yourself.

Appalling customer service

I have created a requester account and was not able to publish my survey due to 'exceeding credit limit'. When i have emailed MTurk to increase the limit (which is 0 for a new account) they have rejected it. I have received an email from Shane in the organisation who supposed to take my case and email me back with a suggested solution to the problem, which I still have not received. It is not clear from the T&Cs why I cannot increase my credit limit as I have the required amount of money on my card associated with the AWS account. So far this is the worst customer experience I have ever received. Not sure the rationale behind this as MTurk receives 20% of the fees???

Suspension on Mturk Requester Account

Hello,

I am writing to express my concerns regarding my Mturk Requester account. Approximately one year ago, I used this account for data collection. However, when I recently attempted to log in, I encountered an issue. The platform stated that I do not have the authority to access the website. I am certain that I have not engaged in any illegal or improper activity.

Additionally, I have not received any notification regarding the suspension of my account. Furthermore, there is still a balance of funds remaining in my Mturk account, and I am concerned about the possibility of these funds being withheld or misappropriated.

I kindly request your guidance on how to resolve this matter promptly. Your assistance in this urgent matter would be greatly appreciated.

Possible scam

Beware of this scam, I joined up and after setting up I tried doing some tasks, Each one asks you questions to see if you are suitable which I found intrusive, Salary, Your employment, Income, How many children and other personal questions and after doing all that it says you are not suitable for the task, They are just farming your details and on top of that for some reason all my orders have vanished off Amazon, Even the ones I'm still waiting for, I can't find anywhere that tells you how to cancel the whole thing, I did see a review that said if you do you will probably lose all your Amazon account and banking details, Not happy at all.

Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) provides…

Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) provides a diverse platform for completing microtasks in exchange for pay. The experience on MTurk varies based on the tasks available and individual preferences. Some users appreciate the flexibility it offers in terms of working hours and task selection. However, others find that the pay for tasks might not always match the effort and time required, and there can be inconsistencies in task availability.

Overall, MTurk can be a decent platform to earn some extra money, but it might not serve as a primary source of income due to the unpredictable nature of task availability and the relatively low pay for certain tasks.

Zero help as a requester to resolve "credit limit" glitch

I was trying to use mTurk as a requester. My study was based on using mTurk for data collection. What I didn't realize is that even though my AWS account was linked to my mTurk requester account, the mTurk system didn't let me bill the task through AWS. I got a message saying that there was some "credit limit" that needed to be increased. Meanwhile, my credit card has a great limit. After several emails from a support ticket, I was told that there was a "backlog". Nobody ever called (I requested that on the ticket), or got back to me other than the canned email message. My data collection could not wait after patiently waiting for a week so I used another service instead. Not impressed. On the bright side, Clickworker was much cheaper. My data is almost done being collected. Thanks for nothing, AWS.

Five stars when I started, Two to three stars now.

I started mturk in late 2016 and it has been a big part of my life since. I have made close to $60,000 total on it with about two thirds of that being before COVID. It has been anywhere from a way to stay afloat between jobs to a really good side gig.

The platform is like no other. With the right qualifications you can make hundreds a week. Unfortunately, Amazon is very hands off on it's support resulting in a major decline in quality.

Amazon did not do a good job of filtering scammers resulting in low quality work for requesters and a gradual decline between 2018 and 2022. The nail in the coffin was forcing requesters to only pay with AWS about a year ago resulting in a mass exodus of requesters to other platforms. Now a small fraction of work compared to what it used to be is there.

This is still good for a few dollars, and still above sites like swagbucks and inbox dollars, but I am lucky to make $150 a month now when it used to be $300-600 weekly. If you can get in, temper your expectations, the glory days of mturk are gone.
