My mother in law booked five times a year with this firm and once they were taken over by the monster machine Cottages.com all customer service disappeared. No loyalty rates and most certainly not the same support or quality of cottages. Luckily many of the houses she loves moved to another agency. So make sure you look up your favourites and go with another agent or owner direct.

Appalling service from Mulberry…

Appalling service from Mulberry Cottages, who will not refund the cost of our cottage holiday after they cancelled the booking because of coronavirus, stating "it's not our policy". All they have offered is a voucher, which must be used by the end of August 2020. If we don't use it, the company will simply pocket all the money. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY!

Our booking for THIS WEEKEND with Mulberry Cottages - DO NOT BOOK

Our booking for THIS WEEKEND with Mulberry Cottages.

This weekend we were supposed to be going on my sisters hen do. We booked a large holiday cottage with Mulberry Cottages for 21 people. As you can imagine this is not going ahead due to COVID-19/Government restrictions. Whilst the bride and hen party are all disappointed, we all understand the importance of cancelling this weekend - missing out on a hen do is nothing compared to the other impacts of this virus.

Our issue now is with this company. A few months ago we started to prepare for cancellation of the hen do, as per the government advice. However, we had not received any communication from Mulberry Cottages. Weeks passed and still nothing, so we got in touch with them.
Their response to our question “what are you doing about our booking for the 17th April as legally we cannot attend?” was both unhelpful and unsympathetic: “You cannot come, but as this is not our fault we will not give you your money back”.

We were told that we could rebook at a suitable time, but as you can imagine to fit in a hen do this summer to suit the 21 guests is not easy. We have spent approximately ten hours looking at all options. Mulberry Cottages do not have anything suitable before the wedding date, for the number of guests we have. Bearing in mind, we have been extremely flexible in what we would be able to do to make it work. Not once has a member of the Mulberry Cottages team offered any support or help in assisting us with this process, to make it work for both parties. And even to this day no one has officially cancelled our booking for this weekend.

Now I understand that thousands of businesses are taking a hit from this pandemic, but their seems to be no lee way in this impossible situation. We asked for a small discount on the only suitable place, as it is out of our budget and they said no. We were also falsely told that if we find somewhere smaller and wish to use our booking for a different occasion, we could do this and would receive the difference in cost back. We have since been informed that they will not accommodate this.

We have spent £2,500 for this holiday cottage which is a considerable sum and affects all of the guests involved. This has been extremely stressful for the bride, her bridesmaids and her family, which is on top of all of the complications caused by the postponement of an overseas wedding that has to be rearranged.

As it stands, I was told to expect a phone call yesterday which never came. I have attempted to contact the company several times in the past two days and no one is answering the phone. We accept that as a struggling business hit hard by this pandemic, issuing a full refund will add to the companys existing problems. However, allowing us to rebook for a smaller number of people or providing a discount on a more expensive property, is the easiest way to resolve this issue without either party losing out.

We found out today that, after the pandemic began, they changed their terms and conditions on their website. This was AFTER we booked our accommodation with them.

Will never be using Mulberry cottages again.

No refund despite Government lockdown

We have to decide wether to cancel our booking and lose our deposit of £1000 or go ahead and pay the remaining balance soon despite the world being in lockdown due to the conorovirus and the UK government saying that we can not travel.

I emailed and got no reply. Called and waited 15mins on hold, eventually they came back to me and said I would lose my deposit. I believe the website used to say I would be entitled to a refund if cancelling 84 days before the booking, however I have been told I am wrong and will lose money regardless of the reason for cancelling being due to the pandemic. Not a lot of empathy or any solution offered.

Coronavirus opportunistic profiteering

At this time of Coronavirus when people are losing their jobs and their livelihoods, getting sick and dying, Mulberry Cottages have shown them selves to be a greedy and dishonest company
For people like me who are due to pay the balance for their forthcoming holiday at the end of May, there is no information available on their website and the phones are always busy. We now have to make a decision - cancel the outstanding payment and lose the deposit or pay in full for a holiday we wont be able to go on or get a voucher for a holiday we cannot reorganise.
Immoral opportunistic profiteering by this company and their second home owner clients.

Bressingham Hall

We had a fabulous week over Christmas at Bressingham, would go back like a shot should we have the opportunity, there were 19 of us, including 9 children under 10.

The house is well equipped and comfortable, not too shi-shi so the children were happy to run around. The gardens and location just outside Diss was perfect - the gardens run by the Bloom family although mid-wider are immaculately looked after.

If it was marked out of 10 I would give it 9 - some feedback which are in no way a criticism, just some constructive.feedback
1. No loo on the ground floor, difficult with visitors
2. Although lots of hot water in basins/baths, all showers in all rooms couldn't be raised above medium.
3.Both fridges, the trays in the doors were broken so storing tall upright things, milk, wine etc made more difficult

Lastly there is a working TV point in the main sitting room which Mulberry wasn't aware of. - we took a 2nd TV to cover all eventualities.

Thank you Blooms!

El Ray at Dungeness

What a fantastic place to stay, right on the shingle beach next to the sea! El Ray is a super modern property which is really well equipped and very comfortable. You don't get many houses where there is a railway carriage for the kitchen. Dungeness is unique and very interesting and there are lots of lovely places to visit nearby. Booking with Mulberry Cottages was easy and straightforward.

Hornets nest in a Mulberry Cottage. They weren’t the least concerned!!

We used Mulberry Cottages to book a short break for our family at Tiesel Cottage, 1 New Road, Brockhampton. When we arrived it was obvious there was a hornets nest somewhere and over the 2 days we encountered 7 hornets on the floor of the property (bathroom, landing and lounge). We have 2 young children and were incredibly concerned that one of them would tread on one so contacted the owner immediately who failed to respond. We also contacted Mulberry who seemed remarkably unconcerned. They said they would try and speak to the owner but a month on, and after repeated requests, they have failed to respond and just ignore our emails. Quite frankly the worst example of customer service I’ve ever had the misfortune to be subject to.
