Last year I spent MORE time here than anywhere else and bought many friends here and family. The staff were lovely. However I was disappointed more than a few times now😩 I took a friend a few months ago for Sunday lunch, here and not only had the prices gone up a lot I was flabbergasted to find the additional “ Cauliflower Cheese” was an extra £7.00 😮
However going back to my visit (Monday 4th August) I got soaked from walking my dog, I couldn’t eat all the Ceaser Salad and do think it’s deceiving paying £16,00 for that BUT if you want the CHICKEN it’s another £5.00. However but really made me mad was ….. after I asked nicely “Would you be kind enough to wrap it as I can’t eat it now and the young lady was lovely ( even though she seemed to be doing EVERYTHING. This is what I found when I got home, it just slung into a card board box like you were scraping rubbish in a bin !! It looked good from the outside but it was a DISGRACE HOW IT WAS PRESENTED WHEN I OPENED IT 😡 I do have a photo !!

Exceptional food, and drinks wine, cider and craft beer, outstanding service, great atmosphere definitely would recommend this pub & restaurant and will be going back for a second visit.

Atrocious- avoid! Mediocre but overpriced food. Customer service matters and how members of staff are treated matters too. I am not surprised that waiting staff looked stressed exhausted and not motivated enough to do better. I did work for this restaurant many years ago when I was a student and that was the worst experience I ever had. Poor management, mad working hours, no flexibility or even staff meals for people who work long shifts. Was no respect, barely any tips (most perhaps stolen by management I guess..). I call it slavery and abuse! I lasted there 2 weeks and never even went back ever since. Unpleasant stressful memories. Revolting place! Conveyor belt food. Severe disrespect to waiters.

I’ve eaten oysters in various places around the world, but the Mussel Inn in Edinburgh has the best I’ve ever tasted. Just superb. And I’ve been twice in the last year (I’m just a visitor or it would be much more often!)

Oh, and the mussels are terrific also.
