Sending thugs to your front door for a debt that doesn't exist...

I left Green Star 2.5 years ago. They wrote out of the blue claiming a debt that doesn't exist. I have said I will pay the amount on my final bill, no more. I have asked and asked for paperwork to support the additional amount, they can't provide it. Then I had LCS contact me, went through the whole process again, they couldn't provide the evidence and it all went quiet. Today someone from Resolvecall turned up on my doorstep demanding that I phone a number to resolve this, which is Green Star Energy again. Needless to say 'due to the pandemic it will take longer to resolve your call'. After 10 minutes on hold, the thug gave up and left. Now I'm being told once again that they will supply the evidence for the amount I supposedly owe, which they won't because it doesn't exist. How can companies get away with this? How can they be impossible to contact, impossible to deal with, nobody can resolve anything on the phone but they can send a thug to your front door? I'm not a criminal, I'm just a normal person asking for a bill to support the amount they are saying I owe. How can this even be happening? AVOID AVOID AVOID

Stay away if you value your sanity!

Stay away if you value your sanity!! Faulty systems, faulty online platform, faulty readings, horrible customer support!! I ended up having to go twice to the ombudsmen because Green Star was taking advantage, overcharging me and being absolutly horrible. I cannot stress enough the amount of energy it took to deal with these buffons!! Not to mention constantly being chased by collection agencies just because GreenStar was to incompetent to follow up the payment plans that were set up. They failed in every possible way. I ve completly lost trust in any kind of provider, now I am acting like a crazy person always asking for written confirmation of everything as I really can t cope with going through similar situations again. Stay away!!

I left them in March 2020 because of their incompetence which still carries on until this day.

I left them in March 2020, found out in September I was on the wrong tariff, due to get a refund, still not got this refund, and now they are claiming the goodwill payment of £30 is the refund I am due. Found their staff extremely unhelpful, didn't listen and simply weren't interested, this is through email and on the phone. Useless. Glad I am with now a reputable energy company.

Ofgem back bill rules

They have just issued me with a 3rd final bill. First I paid. Second was a refund which they never sent me. Third they have increased it. I have raised a complaint as due to ofgem regulations an energy provider can not bill you for energy they supplied 12 months prior. It is illegal yet green star are still sending letters hoping people pay if they don’t know the law. I had to mention it to them before they agreed to raise my complaint.

Awful customer experience

Left this company over a year ago and they have now sent me a letter of an outstanding balance which was never mentioned when I supposedly closed the account despite having to speak to them several times to do so.
They also sent a letter to my landlord (whose name they spelt wrong) months after my account closed, apologising to them for not sending a Shell Energy welcome pack! Obviously this pack was never even needed or requested since we had changed supplier months before. They enclosed a cheque with this letter, for what I don't know but it all seems to be a disorganised shambles!

Disgusting billing system

I left Greenstar 2 years ago who originally wouldn't transfer my account to a new supplier unless I paid £50. This money was paid in March 2018, account transferred. The next thing in June 2020 I get a letter from a debt collection agency saying I owe just short of £500, following month another letter from a different debt agency. I am now having to pay this money - the most ridiculous company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. They did admit they should have advised me that I had needed to increase my monthly payments but they had never done that - their fault. They offer cheap monthly payments to attract customers and then sting you with large bills at the end of your contract!

This company is a joke. Avoid.

This company is a joke. Left them 2 years ago, they’re still unable to provide a correct final bill and after being silent for 18 months, they’re now back with all kinds of threatening communications despite that we’ve established that the ball is firmly in their court. Why anybody would sign up to green star is beyond me as the are expensive and the customer service is obnoxious. Avoid.

Worst energy company ive ever dealt with

This is by far the worst company i have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Twice i had to go to ofgem and twice greenstar had to apologize to me for the total shambles they had made of my account, and now 2 years later they are threatening me looking for money even although i left them 2 years ago and have heard nothing since. The customer care is non existent and i wish i didnt have to give them 1 star on this review. Since i joined my new supplier i have not had a single problem.

If you read reviews just explains…

If you read reviews just explains everything. left the company over 1 year ago due their absurd billing. was on a fixed rate of £82 a month. toward the last 3 months that'd gone up to £400. i mean who uses much energy in summer moths? told them did and they could not answer me! rang them to get get a break down of the bill. every advisor i rang (i rang 4/5 times to ensure i was getting the right advice) talked about estimation. sent in my readings heard nothing back. decide to leave to go to another well known company. thank god. paid green star £130 when i left, apparently i owed this much evn though paid my last monthly bill before i did. receieved aletter after 1 yr stating that i owed over £600. refuted it and was asked to send readings which i did. so green star went quiet for 3 months. only to send final bill in the 4th months threatening my credit history. for their information. i always pay bills on time and have an excellent rating. did not respond to emails. Disgusting company. and i dont think it was ever legit. reading online reviews and news about them owing compensation. now im thinking they went after old customers stole from them to compensate others that they also took advantage of. why ha ofgem not realised and seen this???

Would give minus stars if I could

Would give minus stars if I could! As with other former customers I too had a "final" bill 2 years after leaving the company via a debt collection agency. I am still in doubt as to the validity of the amount asking as it works out at more than double of what I am paying now! I have asked numerous times to contact me by email as I now want to have a paper trail. This was invaluable when contacted by the debt collection agency as I could prove I had been in contact with Green Star despite them saying I hadn't. They still keep asking me to telephone! On going dispute now nearly 3 years after leaving. Absolutely diabolical company!!! AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!

This company is truly unbelievable

This company is truly unbelievable! After leaving them 2 years ago, I get a letter from a debt collecting agency demanding outstanding balance of £884, after a lot of phone calls back and fourth I decided to settle with debt collection company with 6 payments at a discounted rate (I just wanted it gone) after I paid 3 payments, I receive a letter from another debt collection company demanding full payment on behalf of green star energy 🤷🏼‍♂️ Finally got a hold of green star who said I had only made 2 payments, so I agreed to send them bank statements to prove 3 instalments had been paid, was told to phone back in 2 weeks as the process took a while, low and behold I get an email the next day saying why have I not paid my bill 🤷🏼‍♂️, I am really losing the will, I have never met such a disorganised company in all my life, PLEASE STAY AWAY, u have been warned 😭😭😭😭

77yr old Hounded by Debt Collection letters

Trying to help my 77 year old mother with this Conpany and failing to get through to them is a nightmare. She left Green Star August 2018, paid a final bill and never heard from them till recently. The company she moved to (another poorly rated energy supplier Scottish Power) increased her monthly payment so she decided to move again.
She received an email from Green Star demanding a years worth of monthly payments saying they had been supplying her gas/electric all this time not Scottish Power who she had been paying. Trying to get them to produce a bill or proof of the supply has been horrendous, my mother cannot get into her email bills to see what’s going on and they are asking for her bank details and address again!! Alarm bells beginning to ring and Correspondence has been stopped until they produce a Another bill, proving they are the the supply provider. A debt collection agency can’t collect outstanding debt if no bill has been produced to prove the amount owed. We are now having to go through Offgem as we are getting nowhere with either of these companies. Scottish Power want £108 a month now which it did start at £30 per month. It just keeps going up and up but no bills being produced in over 1 year, to prove she has used all this energy. We trying to read meters as the smart meter no longer working. But unfortunately the screens are not very clear. And even though her meter is outside apparently no one can come out to read the meter because of Covid.? All we require is an upto date bill with upto date meter readings and it will all be sorted but to no avail.
How these companies are still running and not being investigated is beyond belief especially when you read all these comments.

Dishonest

Signed a dual fuel contract with Green Star Energy a few years ago. Had a couple of unremarkable years with them then moved to another supplier. No issues.....but I'd only had to contact their customer service department when signing up. Fast forward to a few month ago when an email arrives telling me THEY OWED ME money due to an error on their part. A cheque would be sent in a couple of weeks. Happy Days!!!

No refund appeared so contacted customer services via email. They reply with a 'We'll check it out'. A few days later I'm told it was issued as a bank transfer (not cheque as originally informed) weeks earlier and could I check my bank account. Told them it's not there! Please check again. It's still not there!! There are very few incoming payments to my bank account - believe me I'd notice it!!! There's been no progress since and, now, all contact has stopped from their side.

It's a little crazy really. THEY TOLD ME about the error and refund.....and now they don't want me to have it!?! It's not huge but, as they say, 'every little helps'. The customer service department appears to operate somewhere between 'don't care' and 'can't be bothered'. Email responses are slow, poorly written, dishonest and appear to be sent without actually reading the email they're replying to.

I'm sure I'll get over it. This is just a little heads up to anyone considering the switch to Green Star Energy. The customer service department is next to useless and, whilst the company seem to enjoy chasing people who they say owe them money, they're not too keen to pay their own debts! BE WARNED!!!
