Demanded payment by wire transfer after charging my card!
Purchased a demo Swarovski spotting scope online. The charge went through, but the next morning I received an email from Natchez saying my billing address didn't match the card, and that I needed to rectify this by email or phone call or the order would be cancelled. Checking my order receipt, I confirmed that my billing address was correct (and has been my billing address for 20 years), which I reiterated in me email. After no response for several hours, and not wanting to miss out on the demo price Swarovski, I called their customer service. He could not confirm that there was anything amiss with the billing address, but said because I was a new customer and it was a pricey (~$4500) purchase, they needed verified funds by wire transfer!! That was a huge red flag to me, as my bank had already approved the transaction and there was no reason for them to insist upon this except that *I* would lose any recourse if something went wrong with the transaction (scope never received or broke, or demo in poor condition). Completely shady and horrible business practice. I did not go through with the transaction and perhaps it is a blessing in disguise as their "customer service" seems to get very mixed reviews - certainly not a business relationship I want to start with an expensive long-term purchase like this spotting scope.
