People frequently mentioned problems with communication and the perceived lack of proper maintenance, which they believe leads to recurring issues. Reviewers also shared mixed opinions regarding the staff. Great service and communication

Had an inconvenience, We had a power cut this morning .
Took me about 3 seconds to report it on line .
I had a phone call within minutes to diagnose . And told someone would be calling round
A text message within the hour confirmed they knew where the fault was.
A finally a text to say not only that it was fixed but the reason .
Can’t fault the service .

ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

Your large commercial vehicles with all their overhanging commercial kit etc should not be left on our streets. We are in a residential family area close to a school with children , pets, dog walkers, cyclists and cars. You have a social responsibility to ensure your employees do not leave your vehicles on our streets when not in use. On one occasion I did not see this vehicle move for a whole week! I do not see any other corporate commercial vehicles on the street, only a large national grid vehicle parked anti socially - Get this vehicle off the street - postcode is b60 1jz

A laughable extravaganza that rewards flawed sapiens

National grid fail to Inform us via post
Of works intended
We become aware when the platoon of vehicles arrive at our neighbours property to commence work
We switch of our electric consumer unit ourselves no attempt is made by any member of the national grid troop to inform us , the platoon made up of Friday's workers complete the works early & stand about looking bemused with a pinch of being totally dumbfounded
However due to the national grid fleet vehicles fitted with trackers they are aware they cannot leave the job early so to ease the boredom they stand around looking for the meaning of life for almost 2 hours
"nice" then one van and man has the exhausting task of pressing the connect electric now
& then the national grid team exit all areas in there vehicles in a cloud of dust generated by the haste and the alloted 2pm job invoice time that equates to the vehicle tracking devices all good
"it's what put the GREAT Into great Britain

Is anyone else tired of being robbed by National Grid. My bills for Jan- Feb - March jumped $400 per Month , I was in Florida, my heat was at 58, and just the refrigerator was on. This is outrageous thievery. Why are we in NYS paying 2x the price per kilo watt as the national average? Our elected officials have sold us out.

For over 30 years now there has been an electrical hazard at my house from their utility pole in Syracuse, ny. They added wires to it on the wood part and ran it overhead through by backyard touching trees, my garage, and its right above metal fences. This is an electric hazard emergency but when i call them to fix it they always come and leave saying they will remove it later! They are liers! Its still there this many years later. It causes noise, sometimes head pain and trouble with memory in my house connected to my garage. 911 doesn't care, neither did the sheriff. National grid and usa are mean.

They have increased the supply charge…

They have increased the supply charge from .07 cents back in November to .21 cents per kwh. I am usually paying around $400 to $500 for the winter months but now paying $600 to $700. How do they expect people to live if they keep raising the rate, which is going to happen over the next 3 years? Horrible company

Give them a call if your having problems

Prices have gone up tremendously but after speaking with a rep they have helped me out by enrolling in a median payment, instead of paying a REDICULIOUS amount they have me paying the average amount I use, its has helped beyond belief and im extremely grateful for them, thank you national grid

Lying, deceptive, dishonest, corrupt, criminals

Lying, deceptive, dishonest, corrupt, criminals are who National Grid are.

They treat their customers like garbage.

Why?

Because they are a utility and there is no oversight over their criminal activities.

They are not held accountable for their illegal acts.

To call National Grid human scum would be an insult to both humans and scum.

One of the worst electric companies

One of the worst electric companies! I live in upstate NY in the Adirondacks. And we have had 5 power outages in 2025 with the average time being 4 hours and the last one lasted 13 hours. My dog and I had to leave the house and get in my car at 11 pm and start it up and put the heat on and spent the night in my car until the power came back on at 9am. Very greedy company making huge profits and not doing the proper preventive maintenance keeping trees and limbs away from the power lines. All the outages have been due to tree limbs.

Brilliant service

The snow brought down the electricity cable to our house. The engineers kept us up to date with progress on deactivating the arcing, smoking cable, then the likely timing of our reconnection. They worked in the dark, up on a cherry picker in sleet/snow for several hours and finally we were back on grid. Thank you so much Jo, Josh and Ben.

Four times

Four times. In the last year I've had to. Raise several complaints about the customer service support and again this year already several times been left without a generator knowing I'm on a CPAP machine and lifeline I have a battery back up for. Internet but once it dies I have no contact from anyone as whole street goes out and no mobile data as it runs off national grids power source and even manager doesn't care when u complain and they just say go back to ur own provider which I have done and they tell me to go back to national grid I am now starting legal action against national grid for. Negligence and medical negligence on that

We have had a number of faults on our street for the last year the last time I spoke to somebody at National Grid she had explained to me that they knew exactly what the problem was but weren’t allowed to fix it until it completely failed to be fixed so basically they admitted they were fixing it up until they had no choice but to dig the road up once again after a couple of weeks later we have now been without electric since this morning I have two disabled children in the property both with mental health needs an additional needs one is currently non-verbal the other has severe anxiety yet the best they can do is get it on by 6 pm that’s even if they can get it back on what’s the point in a priority service if that cannot be met for people that need it how many more times are they going to allow this to happen it needs to be fixed once and for all this has been an ongoing issue in the village now on our street for at least a year it needs to be fixed it’s not fair to leave people like this

This is the worst company I have ever…

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with in my entire life.
You have multiple apartments, and we're forced to deal with them in new york.
They are an english company located out of london and they don't care if service is on in new york or not.
I will classify this company as monsters.
Through complete incompetence of their own residents continue to be disconnected for no reason.
It is a disaster to try to get them to correct their mistakes, i get services turned on for our tenants.
Even myself after I bought my home and I put service in my name and everything was working fine.Me and my family went away for a few days to come back home to find everything disconnected.
They did not remove the disconnect order from the previous owners, which they're supposed to do when they set up a new account.
If you have propane, and you're thinking about moving over to the national grid, I would do your best not to do so.
The level of income is just fantastic.
Worst company I have ever dealt with

Received bills months after I moved out

The services were ok, but they completely ignored my questions and notifications to end service on the exact date for several months.

For those who are using their services now: Remember that to end service you must call (wait in long waiting room) and state that you want to end service on a specific date.

Absolutely USELESS

Absolutely USELESS
I live in Bromsgrove Worcestershire area and currently having our second power cut in two days, this is the 4th power cut in the last two months. I'm absolutely sick of these power cuts, they are happening more and more frequently. if national grid bothered to actually do maintenance or fix the back up power supply for our area I wouldnt have to cook my dinner on a camping stove in my own home for the second night in a row! We can send katy perry to space but national grid can't even provide me with sufficient power to cook my dinner...

Great job

I was actually really impressed with NG. I returned home on a Friday to find I had no electricity, having checked the RCD unit found there was no power coming into the house. I had an engineer at my house within the hour who found the fault and although it could not be fixed there and then, 40 minutes later a generator was wired into my house. On the Monday morning, the guys were there to dig up the drive, found and fixed the issue, returning the drive back to the same state they found it in. It turned out to be a cowboy builder issue. Not having to pay a penny to fix the issue, how can I complain about that. Great job.
