Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 1,269 reviews, reviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company. Customers consistently praise the staff for their patience, understanding, and professional guidance, which helped many pass their tests on the first attempt. The customer service is frequently highlighted as excellent, with many appreciating the informative and reassuring approach from agents who take time to explain details and resolve issues efficiently. Reviewers also found the booking process very easy and the user experience positive, often noting the helpfulness of the app for tracking lessons and progress. However, some people mentioned issues with the service, including the high cost of booking courses that do not cover actual driving lessons, and a lack of responsibility when problems arose with allocated instructors. A few other people also felt that the company's organizational skills were lacking, leading to instructors not showing up or being assigned to incorrect addresses, and some felt misled about the services provided for the fee.

Middle man

This company is a middle man and will not take responsibility if something goes wrong with the allocated instructor.

You will be financially liable. They also offer fast pass courses but it is likely your test will be cancelled and you will have to pay more because most instructors are not willing to take you to test that quickly.

Can be good to obtain an instructor but they will just allocate you someone you could find yourself for double the money you would have paid and less protection.

Thank you for your review.

We would like to clarify a number of points that we believe are inaccurate or misleading.

National Intensive is a driving course booking and management company. Our role is to arrange driving courses and put customers in touch with suitable local instructors from our nationwide network. This is clearly explained before booking and is not something we have ever hidden.

It is also incorrect to suggest that we take no responsibility if issues arise. Where problems occur, we actively liaise between customers and instructors and do our best to help find solutions. However, there are occasions where customer expectations may not be realistic or achievable, particularly where instructor availability, test availability, or timescales are outside anyone's control.

With regard to fast-pass courses, no reputable company can guarantee that a driving test will not be changed, moved, or cancelled. Driving test appointments are controlled by the DVSA, not by instructors or course providers. We work hard to guide and assist customers in securing suitable test dates and keeping them informed of earlier availability where possible.

It is also important to note that since the DVSA rule changes introduced on 12 May, only the pupil is permitted to make changes to their driving test booking. This means neither National Intensive nor the instructor can amend a customer's test appointment on their behalf.

Finally, while customers are always free to source an instructor independently, many choose our service because we save them the time and difficulty of contacting multiple instructors, checking availability, arranging intensive schedules, and coordinating courses around test dates. The value of our service extends beyond simply providing an instructor's contact details.

We appreciate all feedback, but we do not believe this review provides a balanced reflection of the service we offer or the support we provide to our customers.

This company is a complete scam

This company is a complete scam. Ignore all positive reviews they’re fake and bot written. They have no organisational skills whatsoever, I got allocated THREE drivers all have which pulled out before my test because national intensive didn’t tell them I was yet to 1. Do my theory test (so obviously can’t start a crash course) 2. Tell them my location was in Doncaster (I’m from Hertfordshire) and 3. When it’s too late they give an instructor the wrong address AGAIN. They’ve also refused to give me any refund because I ignored my instructors? I have evidence of myself being happy to do lessons with them and they chose to pull out because they were not informed by NI about location and theory test. Useless company, the amount of times I called up explaining my test is soon and they haven’t got me a teacher that is actually in my location and they just tell me they’ll give me an update later - update they don’t. No one cares they just money grab and scam you. Please do not book with these guys.

Thank you for your review.

Unfortunately, we cannot locate any course under the name used for this review. To enable us to investigate your concerns properly, please provide your course ID or contact us directly with the email address used when booking.

Based on the information provided, there is currently no validation for the claims made in your review. In fact, if three separate ADIs returned the course, this would suggest that communication difficulties were not on our side but your own, particularly as instructors rely on timely responses from pupils when arranging lessons.

Regarding your comment about needing to pass a theory test before starting lessons, this is incorrect. Pupils can undertake driving lessons while waiting to pass their theory test. Whether lessons commence before the theory test is passed is a matter for the pupil and ADI to agree between themselves.

With regard to the address concerns you have raised, we would need confirmation of the specific course and booking details before we can access the relevant file and verify what information was provided and when.

We take customer feedback seriously and are always happy to investigate genuine concerns. However, without sufficient information to identify the booking, we are unable to substantiate the allegations made in this review.

We invite you to contact us directly with your course ID or booking email address so that we can review the matter fully.

Refunded

This is my experience only and may not be the majority view.
I found it diffcult to obtain an instructor for training and eventually National Intensive have agreed to refund me my deposit minus admin fee of £100.
This is some progress on my matter.

EDIT
We do not have anyone registered in our database under the name you have provided. As you have declined to provide any further details that would allow us to identify you, we must conclude that you are not one of our customers.

We have been advised by Trustpilot that you have declined to provide any further information that would enable us to identify your account and investigate your concerns more thoroughly.

we are not in a position to conduct a meaningful investigation or provide a substantive a further response.

In the absence of any further details, we now consider this matter closed. Should you wish to provide sufficient information in the future to allow us to identify your booking and review your concerns, we would be happy to revisit the matter.

Thank you for your review.

We have searched our records and cannot find any customer or course booking that matches the name used on this review. Before we can investigate these allegations, please provide your course ID or the email address associated with the booking.

We must also challenge a number of the statements made in your review. Our records and procedures show that when an ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) is allocated to a course, an automated email is immediately sent to the customer confirming the allocation and providing the instructor's details. We therefore do not recognise the account you have described.

If you did book with us, we invite you to provide your course ID or registered email address so that we can review the matter thoroughly. Until then, we are unable to verify that you were a customer of ours, and the claims made in this review cannot be substantiated against any record we hold.

We remain happy to investigate once sufficient information is provided.

Scammers!

Upon initial communication with this company it was fantastic..until it wasn't.
This company charged us £379.99 to book tests on my husbands behalf, however the law changed, so apart from booking one test for £62, what else did they provide for that money?
We then paid the instructor for 10 hours worth of lessons (as my husband has a license in another country and has driven here but after 12 months this isn't allowed) we paid £340 which is apparently the norm now. The driving instructor has now told my husband he needs 4 more hours worth of lessons (now charged at £40 a lesson???) and £195 for the day of his test.

We are really not happy with the service we've paid for and think, to be honest, this is one big scam!! We could of done it for a fraction of the cost had we of done it ourselves (which we have done as we've booked another test as my husband couldn't make the one they'd booked for him and they will get the refund!!)

AVOID!

Thank you for your feedback.

Unfortunately, we are unable to fully investigate or respond to your comments as we cannot identify you from the information provided, and you do not appear to be on any file we currently hold. If you would like us to review your case in detail, please contact us directly with your course ID and candidate details.

From the information in your review, it appears that the candidate may not have been test-ready at the point of the practical test. Driving instructors have a professional responsibility to assess a candidate's readiness and may recommend additional training where necessary to improve the chances of a successful outcome.

If all hours included within the course package had already been completed, any further lessons required before the test would be chargeable by the ADI (Approved Driving Instructor). Similarly, test-day fees and vehicle hire charges are standard instructor charges and would apply where additional time or services are required beyond those included in the original package.

We would welcome the opportunity to review your concerns properly. Please contact our customer support team with your course ID so we can investigate and provide a full response.

Avoid avoid !!!!!!!

Where do i start with this company. I paid over a thousand pound to get messed about left right and centre. My first instructor they gave me never turned up and never messaged me to let me know, my second one was someone who wasnt even in the area i was so he couldn't do it, my third one well well well this one was falling asleep while i was driving also had someone in the back of the car and asked me to drop them off at a bus stop which i did and the guy in the back got out handing the instructor cash which is dodgy if you tell me, the forth one he was ok but brought my confidence down so much by telling me im going to fail, and he was always late would drop me off 20 minutes early too making it that he owes me more time which i never got back, he shouted at me for not overtaking a cyclist but i couldn't because there was a bus on my right. Stopped 20 minutes to go toilet, stopped again for petrol which im pretty sure your meant to fill up before a lesson, would always drive me in areas my test wasn't in. Wouldnt do lessons in my car even though i was insured for him to do the lessons in my car, made me feel really uncomfortable. Also paid an extra £60 to get a earlier test which never got but i did get a refund on that. All I'm saying is avoid national intensive at all costs. Do not waste your money and time. Im lucky i passed after taking lessons with someone else who was amazing.

We are sorry that you were dissatisfied with your experience and appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.

We take all complaints seriously and investigated the concerns raised with the instructors involved. It is important to note that some of the events described in your review are disputed by the instructors, and their accounts differ significantly from the version presented here.

In relation to the allegation that an instructor fell asleep during a lesson, the instructor strongly denies this occurred. We asked for any supporting evidence that could assist our investigation, but none was provided.

Regarding lessons being conducted in an instructor's vehicle rather than a pupil's own car, Approved Driving Instructors are under no obligation to provide lessons in a student's vehicle. Many instructors will only teach in a dual-controlled vehicle for safety and insurance reasons, which is entirely reasonable and in line with industry practice.

With regard to comfort breaks during longer lesson sessions, instructors are permitted to take reasonable breaks, including toilet breaks and short stops where necessary. These are often unavoidable during intensive courses that involve many hours of tuition.

While we accept that this was your experience and perception of events, there are significant differences between your account and the information provided by the instructors involved. As such, this ultimately represents a difference in perspective regarding a number of the matters raised.

We are pleased that you went on to pass your driving test and wish you all the best with your future driving.

Regional differences

Had some difficulties with where I was originally trying to get a test (Cornwall), they need to be more up front with what they can actually offer as some regions have limited instructor availability and national intensive don’t seem to have their own. However, they were understanding with compensation and Emma was very helpful.
