Just wanted to leave a review as having booked with this company and then reading reviews, I had a few sleepless nights! However, I had paid for priority delivery (8-12.30) and they arrived at 7.50. As others say, they hire the machines from other companies, but the machine works and I'm very pleased.

Not hiring machines often, I needed an account to hire with most places so this company was ideal. Only 4 stars as would have rather spoken to someone and office was shut Saturday. But just to put other people's minds at rest, my experience at least was, thankfully, good!

They are not a tool hire company in themselves.. They are a tool hire sourcing company and a very poor one at that. I hired and paid upfront for a tower scaffold to be delivered (in good time 2 days before contractors due on site to allow for assembly) .It was delivered as arranged but in an appalling state with structural parts, damaged ,bent, missing and twisted out of shape making the unit totally unusable. Over the next 2 days and many phone calls to them (they never ever rang back when requested to) they were unable to source a replacement or indicate when I might get one, so I cancelled the contract and requested a refund.. They stated that as I hadn't taken out cancellation insurance I wouldn't get a refund... WTF !!!!!!

I had never received a working safe scaffold in the first place. They had delivered me a defective, unusable damaged product that would have been a danger to anyone attempting to use it and had never undergone any checks before being sent out and they. A health and safety inspector would have had a field day with them.
That was now over 10 days ago and I have heard nothing since. No off hire note, no refund, no phone calls, no letter, no emails. Nothing. They appear to be a total scam, sending out defective and damaged items that do not undergo any safety checks, are unusable, not to say dangerous and potentially deadly and then refusing to pay refunds when you cancel the contract. Make your own conclusions

Really poor service - like many other reviewers here, I had a very disappointing experience. On the day of delivery, having taken a day off, they send through a text stating that they cannot deliver today but can in a fortnight! Having phoned in twice and explained that this really doesn't work they promise call backs which have yet to materialise. Look at their feedback and avoid them, there are better and cheaper alternatives.

My wife and I waited in all day for delivery.She has a chronic illness so couldn’t be left alone.No delivery arrived, no phone call, and very weak apology.I will never deal with them again.

Ordered a ladder for a one day hire and was expecting it the following morning. Got a text message the day of hire saying it would be delivered between 4.15pm and 6.15pm. Not the best time to be climbing a ten metre ladder. It was required for a job on the hire day as it couldn't be done after that due to weather forecast.
Contacted the company twice. First was told they would get the supplier to contact me which didn't happen. Second call was to ask that the hire charge be refunded and was told no. I note on their Web page banner it states 'On time '. Somewhat ambiguous to say the least.
I would personally avoid this company in the future.

Absolute con. Hired something 1hr ago, needed to cancel and they charged me £160

Never use, crap company and staff are useless

Hired a cement on line paid for AM DELIVERY AT 09.30 called and was told they are working on my order .absolute lies. Called again at 11.15 took over an hour to get the phone answered. Told should read the SMALL PRINT I WOULD ONLY BE GETTING ONE IF ONE WAS Available. Two bricks standing there £40 hour. TOLD ME COULD MAKE COMPLIANT.

WORST SERVICE I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED. I'VE LOST OVER £350 DUE TO HAVING NO WORK DONE WITH MEN ON SITE AWAITING HIRED TOOLS. MY CLIENT UPSET AND MY COMPANY LOOKING INCOMPETENT DUE THIS APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM THIS COMPANY. THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CONCERNS, THEY ONLY CARE TO TAKE YOUR PAYMENT. AVOID AVOID AVOID.
The above is a review I left with the company called Mammoth hire. It is theat company that has a fake Rochester address that reallleads to a totally different store, but it is really this co.pany called national tool hire that your money goes to.
I've been emailing for two days now asking for a refund as they took my payment for hired tools near £200.00 worth and never delivered the tools. I am now out of pocket and never received or had the tools delivered to me. None of my emails have been returned amd I have not been refunded or answered. So National tool hire has blatantly stolen my money.THIS COMPANY SHOULD BE CLOSED DOWN AND THE THIEVES INVOLVED ARRESTED AND BROUGHT TO THE COURT AND TIDE FOR THE CRIMANALS THEY ARE.
FO NOT TRUST THEM IF YOU VALUE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!

I made an online booking to hire a dehumidifier for a week from Monday 28/10/24 to Monday 4/11/24. It didn't arrive on Monday. I called to complain and was told that my complaint would be relayed to the 'team'.
When it didn't arrive on Tuesday, I called twice to complain and said I wanted a refund. I was told again that my complaint would be passed to the 'team'. It's unacceptable that they failed to carry out their side of the contract and their customer service is hopeless. I would never deal with them again. I will issue a small claim if I don't receive a refund.

Absolutely shocking service from these charlatans. Ordered a sander for hire at 9am this morning and paid for same day collection for 2 days hire. They are impossible to deal with, unhelpful and unwilling to actually do anything. Many calls to them to find out where our same day collection was going to be from and when, only to receive a message 7hrs later at 4pm to say a sander had been allocated. Called the hire firm and they told us they were shutting in 5mins and we will have to collect tomorrow morning. Absolutely livid is beyond words. We have wasted a day now already but the hire firm also told us we have to return the sander the same day. We ordered and paid for 2days hire. Collect Monday, return Wednesday. Not same day collect & return. This is not acceptable. We have had to spend all day on the phone begging these idiots to do their job. Finally after hours wasted we "may" be offered a full refund (on hold at 17:12pm...probably going to get cut off for the last and final time today) you get fobbed off, cut off, told they will call you back, basically we've been lied to all day and I'm not holding my breath about a refund as it seems like a very convoluted process designed to suck your will to live right out of you, but please beware and put your money else where. It may be too late for me and will have to kiss goodbye to my £250. This is a company who make it seem like they have lots of local branches with good availability of equipment with same day delivery & collection but they are just ringing round other hire companies and offering them the job as a brokerage. I could have (should have) done that myself this morning, picked up the sander & done the job in all this time. Never will I use this company again. Disgusting. I wish I could give them a minus star rating.

My experience using this company was good.I needed cherry picker hire with operator at short notice for the next day. I dealt with a guy called Steve and he was great, he even called the next day to make sure all was good with the machine and operator.

Ordered with priority delivery (pre midday), nothing showed up, no communications. Can't speak on phone so directed to chatbot, once past that get told it will be delivered in PM (not able to be more specific). Won't give a refund. A disgrace of a company, avoid like the plague.

We placed an enquiry online for a piece of hire equipment to be delivered. They requested additional ID which meant that it would have been too late for delivery on the day it was required so we decided not to proceed and cancelled the pending order.

We were told that we would only receive our deposit back as their terms and conditions stated that once we had placed an order, we had to pay, despite not receiving the service we paid for.

We had not completed the order as we were informed (by them) the order was not complete until we had verified our ID (which we hadn't) and therefore we should be entitled to a refund as we had received nothing from them.

Despite several emails backwards and forwards they refused to return our money. We contacted paypal and opened a case - at which point a full refund was received within 48 hours.

I would not trust a company that argues to keep customers money without offering a service and I would seriously consider using an alternative company that cared about its customers and the services it offered rather than trying to keep funds for services NOT provided due to small print in their spurious T&Cs

I have used them once before without issues. However, the second order was rather disappointing. It was so difficult to get past Nate the Bot on their Live Chat and then it said passed to Jane, no response. Then passed to Amelia, slow response. I was advised to chat the day before to organise shorter window for collection. Contacted Boels directly by email and received prompt response!

I have twice ordered from this company and had delivery and use of the equipment. This worked fine, however they have not returned the £500 deposit in either case and their appears to be no way to recover this money.

Like everyone else- kit did not turn up, no explanation and uncontactable. Useless

Contacted National Tool Hire via internet to order a Tower Scaffold. Next day received an email asking for ID. Tried 5 times to send photo id (Driving Licence) & Face photo. System accepted initially & then rejected. Could only do online chat with robot which was frustrating & unsuccessful. Finally manage to identify company who they use to provide product & they told me to they only deal with TRADE customers & to cancel order as National Tool Hire were scammers. Meanwhile NTH refuse to return my prepayment as I didn't tick a particular box. DON'T USE THIS NATIONAL TOOL HIRE.

I feel I’ve been ripped off and don’t know where to go next. I was sent 3 floor sanders that kept failing, 1 damaged my floor as it was defective and not maintained and with the constant messing about, didn’t get the floor sanded in what should have been a 2 day job. 2 weeks and I was still getting messed about and then after all- no refund and backtracking on what they said about refunding on the phone. ABSOLUTE SCAMMERS -AVOID!!!

The company seems to be a web broker who uses smaller local hire companies. Their browser will accept your order and state that they have the plant in stock. They will charge you in advance and then look for the plant locally to you. Often delivering late (Which is acceptable in their terms and conditions). My experience was a set of ladders which I ordered on a Friday (Order accepted and paid for) on the web requesting a delivery on the Monday 8am. I checked on the Saturday morning that delivery would take place as requested, however their admin team hadn't processed the order. Luckily I had paid the £6.00 free cancellation fee in advance and cancelled. The hire charge was double my Local HSS branch.

Absolute S##T company. Do not use at all. Phoned customer service who was going to call me back 20 mins later with info I needed. 2 hours later and no call back I called the hire centre myself ( as they use local hire centres to deliver the items). Fortunately the company phone number was on the item I had hired. This hire company were brilliant. As for national tool hire ? Complete bunch of ar#####es and never again. In future I will go direct to the company that supplied me in the first place. Brandon hire is the company, they are really really good.
