My transfer to the Newcastle Building Society went quickly and efficiently. I can't yet comment any further on their service, but pleased so far.

Customer service is good. But archaic banking systems. Withdrawls are so slow, if you miss cut off it will come next day, and unable on weekends! Mindblowing. Having to switch away for this reason

I have been trying to close my instant access savings account for 3 weeks now but the Society will not return all my of my capital. I was told I had to wait until the 30th until I could withdraw my balance in full but this is not the case as I am still being charged a penalty. There is no mention of penalties for withdraw in their T&C's nor any mention that you have to wait to withdraw penalty free from what is stated to be an instant access accounts
As an addendum and in response to the comment below from Newcastle, I have already contacted Newcastle on numerous occasions through there secure messaging system as I believe that is the fair route to go down, it is only because of the lack of a clear and honest response that I feel the need to warn others on trustpilot. I would add that I filed a complaint and was told I would get a response within 3 - 5 days - I didn't and I they continue to penalise me for withdrawing funds from an instant access account - it's been over a month now

I had lost the documentation on a savings account held with the Building Society through a divorce and two quick changes in address. The young women who dealt with my request for copies of the information held by the Society was polite, efficient, and professional in dealing with my request

A local building society with professional and friendly staff, who explain the ins and outs of investing in a concise manner.

Excellent! This building society really does use faster payments, and on withdrawal, doesn't hold on to your cash for a day or so whilst you lose interest- as so many do in UK!
Highly recommended!

My sister and I have been trying to register a Lasting Power of Attorney for my mother's account at the Newcastle Building Society for weeks. The phone line waiting times are over half an hour and sometimes one finally gets through only to hear silence. Every person you speak to gives conflicting information. Apparently, the forms sent out for us to complete were missing sections. The NBS claims to have sent a new form and returned her ID documents to my sister on 1st July. She still has not received them. The NBS claims not to have received my form and ID documents, which I posted in their return envelope on 26th June. Absolutely the worst customer service we have received from any company since we have sadly had to take control of many of my mother's affairs due to her dementia. I have no idea where my driving licence is, or whether I will ever get it back, or when we will finally be able to manage my mum's money for her.

Still waiting after 3 weeks for an update. Application for account email received 28/6/23 with ref number, followed instructions to fund account & sent ID documents requested by post despite my details/address not changing in 25+ years, why could this not be verified electronically? Used 'contact us' link in initial e-mail to request update after a week, no reply. E-mail sent to complaints.officer@newcastle 12/7/23, another week later & still no reply - so please don't use this standard reply as I've already tried it without success. Did you receive my ID paperwork? Is it missing & not reached you? Should I now be concerned for identity theft? Where is my deposit I sent 28/6/23? It has not been returned to my bank.

They referred my complaint to a third party supplier organisation without discussing that with me - the Newcastle BS sales and marketing team were responsible for my mother in laws savings being placed into a trust managed by an unregulated company - that is the simple fact that they deny responsibility for.

UTTER SHAMBLES OF A BSOC - WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. IS LOCKING SAVERS IN TO INSTANT ACCESS ACCOUNT

Opened a savings account because of their market leading rate. The set up process went wrong when the website referred to an authentication code in the joining letter which wasn’t there. I requested the code twice - each time it took 3 days to arrive and each time I got an error message on the website. Newcastle BS have a difficult, error filled joining process which needs fixing. Luckily I only tested a £1 deposit, so I’m off to another company
