So I created a LISA account several years back when I thought to myself I wanted a future in the UK, I now no longer see that future with the state that the country is heading in and so I requested to withdraw my money back on the 26th of March, I'm not capable to give them a call directly so I communicate with them via messages, pretty annoying that every time I sent a message I'd have to wait at least 2 days for a response, so they asked me to confirm that I'm willing to pay the 25% HMRC charge to which I said yes sure, fine, then they asked me to give my account details to which bank I want to withdraw to, so I give them my account details to which account I wanted to withdraw to, then they got back to me telling me that the details I provided with do not match with when I first created the account around half a decade ago... Like hold up a second, this is not what you asked me, you asked to which account I wanted to withdraw my account, so then I respond to them and telling them fine this is the account details of what I opened up with then I got no response, nothing, it is now the 9th of April and still no replies. I send them messages I get ghosted. No replies anymore, at this point they are holding my money against my will and its all because of their miscommunication, you did not ask me what account I used to open up my LISA, you did not ask the security question and now I'm frustrated, I needed that money before the new tax year and here I am, a week later chasing up these scumbags who won't bother to contact me
No I do not wish to communicate with your pathetic email service I want my money out of my account 3 weeks ago, prompto, so don't give me that "I'm sorry to hear that feel free to contact us via so-and-so @ unreliablebank.co.uk"
And if that's what you reply with then that's another reason why your costumer service sucks
Horrendous bank! AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Edit as of the 11th of April : So they have finally managed to sort out my money and withdraw it all, but why did it have to take for me to make a review on here before I finally got someone's attention?

Awful company, badgered my parents to undertake a trust with a non FCA regulated business, which ended up going bust. NBS washed their hands of the matter “not our fault, nothing to do with us..”. It cost my parents thousands of pounds to get their house back, and could lose their life savings. Disgrace of a company, utterly shameful, benefitting from the most vulnerable to satisfy the greed of their shareholders.

Applied to open a new account on the 25/03/2024 and received email confirming application saying it would take up to 24hrs. 48hrs later still awaiting confirmation that the account has been opened.

Excellent customer service and no long drawn out 'introduction' on the phone - I've been a customer for many years and never have had any cause for complaint; cheerful staff who know what they are talking about - a rare thing these days. Very pleased happy customer.

Awful company, allegedly ‘connecting you with a better financial future’ well be careful taking any financial advice from them, because it wasn’t the case for my parents. NBS introduced
my elderly parents, and thousands of others, to a trust with a non FCA regulated business, which ended up going bust. We have letters from NBS introducing my parents to the advisor who recommended my parents transfer their property and life savings into the trust. NBS have since washed their hands of the matter “not our fault, nothing to do with us..”.
Their website also claims that they have helped communities with their finances for over 150 years. This was not help. The badly managed trust cost my parents thousands of pounds to get their house back, and the loss of their life savings. My elderly mother has suffered shame, anxiety and poor health since realising over 2 years ago.
NBS are a disgrace, the lack of accountability is utterly shameful, they benefitted from the most vulnerable to satisfy the greed of shareholders. Don’t take their advice or recommendations.

I complained to Newcastle Building Society on 11 January about their failure to alert us to their concerns about the Family Trust Corporation - a concern that their "Money Manager" said he advised them to contact us about. They responded on 12 January saying "Thank you for your update and your email yesterday regarding Openwork’s response.
I’ll investigate the point raised and respond back with my findings." Obviously, because they treat their members with contempt and do not take responsibility for their mistakes, I have heard nothing since.
Response from Newcastle BS is to tell me to contact their complaints department - the department that didn't respond to my complaint! I have no intention of wasting my time again so have referred to financial ombudsman (whose sole purpose seems to be to misinterpret complaints in favour of the building societies). The building societies have no governance - they should not be trusted.

We've been a customer of Newcastle BS for 40 years. As a family we trusted you with our finances completely. We've had to spend thousands of pounds getting our parents home out of the unregulated financial product they were advised to use. Despite our longstanding relationship you have given us no help whatsoever

The Newcastle building society were responsible me and my wife loosing several thousands of pounds in fees and investments to an unregistered Trust company they recommended and introduced us to in their Newcastle branch. These Trust companies have now gone bust leaving our homes and money in peril but the Newcastle Building Society have washed their hands of us saying although they received commission for introducing us to the companies they do not accept any responsibility for our losses or situation. This situation affects over 400 pensioners who were introduced to the trust companies by four local Building Societies.

Shame on the Newcastle Building Society for introducing and recommending their elderly targeted members to unregulated Companies and products and failing to inform them of this! Then when it all goes wrong, washing their hands of the whole situation.
The stress this has caused to your clients and their families is immeasurable. Do the right thing Newcastle and accept some responsibility and compensate your clients for their losses.

Do not trust Newcastle Building society with any of your financial affairs. Please warn your elderly family members as this seems to be their target market. Recommendations from Newcastle, Leeds, Nottingham Building societies has resulted in thousands of elderly having their homes at risk and are set to lose multiple thousands of savings. Financial advice from a building society of over 40 years who these clients put their trust in. If you have any doubt, search up Yorkshire Post Phillips trust and building society scandal.

We have invested with the Newcastle for many years and needed a new investment as two old ones were maturing. Your interest rates are lower than I'm getting elsewhere which is a pity, but hopefully you will catch up soon and equal other building societies. As the budget was no help to the elderly we look to the building societies to look after us.

Brilliant product and easy online access. Offset mortgage has helped us save towards final repayment while having instant access to our savings if needed. Linked to Bank of England interest rates it gives us a good return on our investment.
Thank you and well done!
