Fabulous - Reading the experiences of other…

Reading the experiences of other travellers confirms that it’s people that make an experience. It doesn’t cost much to be nice, friendly, helpful. We have had the most helpful person assist us at Newcastle airport called Chris Hunter. Chris worked in one of the bars and I have to say what a true gentleman and an asset to Newcastle Airport. Chris helped us in a situation and I cannot thank him enough. It looked like his colleagues like him too which confirms people make a business. Chris was with a colleague of his when helping us out but I didn’t have the ladies name they were both brilliant. Hopefully this reaches Newcastle airport management as these 2 individuals are an asset to your business and you need to look after them as people like this don’t come along very often. Thank you Chris and colleague 🥰🥰

Positive security experience - Special thanks to Lynn!

I travelled internationally via Newcastle Airport Yesterday early hours and the experience was fantastic! The queue time was only two minutes in Security and a very friendly lady called Lynn searched my bag from being pulled off the x-ray machine to test my liquids of 100ml and under and was returned to myself without issue and had a very positive experience discussing my excitement in me visiting my destination for New Years. The airport was very organised and I would recommend!

I was flying back from tenerife on 19th…

I was flying back from tenerife on 19th December but at tenerife i missed my flight back to Glasgow, and I was on the flight back to Newcastle. I arrived at the airport about between midnight and 2am. I decided to wait for the car hire at the airport to open and hire a car.while waiting, and trying to get a bit of rest, then one of the cleaning staff was very intrusive and was looking through my personal bag,and encroaching on my privacy. When I asked him what he was doing, he said nothing and walked away. An elder man in a wheelchair said that he was looking through my personal stuff and be careful. Then the police officer from the airport was trying to say that it was me who was in the wrong. I could hear the cleaning staff and the police officer saying that they were going to stop me again as I have recorded them all,.I have passed the details to my older daughter's who are both barristers and will definitely be pursuing this course and your cleaning staff and the police officer will be having a lawsuit against their current employment. You will be hearing back from me soon

I'll give them minus billion stars!!!

I'll give them minus billion stars!!!! 😡Unfortunately, I have to give the lowest possible rating to Newcastle Airport security for confiscating my perfume (which cost me £55), purchased at the Gateshead Metro Centre from a legitimate perfume stand just three days before my flight. Security focused only on the AFNAN Supremacy Not Only Intense perfume. It was 100 ml and packed in a resealable bag in accordance with the guidelines.

They tested it in some kind of machine, and the security officer stated that I could not take it with me, without giving any logical reason. I asked what was wrong with it — after all, it was not drugs, just perfume. There is nothing prohibited in its ingredients. The officer only said that “the machine” had banned it.

I asked what would happen to it, and the answer I received was that it would be thrown in the bin. I then took this issue to the security manager, and from a polite lady I heard exactly the same thing. They did not offer any alternative, such as storing my property until my return. This is nothing but ordinary theft!

I later learned from an acquaintance that the people working there share confiscated items at the end of the day, and I am able to believe this. If they confiscate something, they should provide a specific reason, because that is their duty! I am furious! Choke on that perfume!!!!!!!

Extortionate prices, poor service

Lovely airport, parking no issue, very straightforward. Duty free was fab, great selection. Only went wrong after security, the costs of shops (WH Smith) and the bar were astounding! With no options we ordered food (a pizza) from the bar, which the restaurant makes. 1 hour later had to enquire with bar staff who were very unhelpful if it was arriving, my husband then went over into restaurant found our pizza sitting., asked for it and given. Luke warm but we were running out of time so had no choice. Very poor

Oh dear, a very poor first impression

Oh dear, what a poor first impression for visitors.

Returned from Malaga at 2.30pm today. The queue for passport & customs clearance zigzagged through the customs hall, along the corridor, down the broken escalator, along the next corridor and out virtually onto the aircraft area. Some people were not under cover in the heavy rain. Then a 20 minute plus wait. Think 3 aircraft had arrived close together, but surely this is not a surprise and what a poor impression it gave to foreign travellers, many who may have been arriving for the first time. This was particularly poor for an airport with ambitions to grow. Very poorly organised

Arrived home from Tenerife early hours…

Arrived home from Tenerife early hours Wednesday morning with Jet 2 . Waiting for cases to appear. Had to put hand luggage case in hold as jet 2 said there was no more space which turned out not rue and paid £51 got the pleasure . My complaint is that the baggage handlers obviously lifted my case by the padlock and have broken the piece off that you pull the zip along with . Also I had brought some tobacco back for my son and a packet is missing and my case is ruined. Tried customer services and all you get is pictures of people in the airport. Used to be my favourite but will not use it again , fortunately we are between Newcastle and Edinburgh. Terrible service in general. Lost my phone in a restaurant there and took 10 days for I to be taken to lost and found £10 cost to get it back

I am sorry to leave this review because…

I am sorry to leave this review because normally I have to say the special assistance at Newcastle airport have been very good even on our return flight on 26/09/25.
But the week before on the 19/09/25 the broen haired lady with glasses aged late 20s or early 30s I could only mark 1 out of 5, she was on the main desk and spoke to me as tho I was 3 years old. She never asked if I had a problem [which I do, heart disease] she pointed at the wheelchairs and told me to push the other member of other party around, I did ask if there was a staff shortage and she curtly said NO.
Also disagreed with me over something all because of a misunderstanding between check in area and boarding gates.
This lady does need retraining and reminding that customers should be given a little more patience and explanation when required. Her shift was during 10am till at least 4pm on the 19/09/25.

Newcastle's out of date scanners.

Flew in from Belfast last week. Airport there allows up to 1000ml of liquids in cabin baggage.
However at Newcastle they have not increased their limit from 100ml. One tenth of the allowance modern airports. Wouldn't even let me drink my tin of coke which they confiscated for themselves along with shampoo etc. Hopefully they will eventually enter the 21st century. Most unGeordie like.

This airport wants yfailure for basic customer carenad very very expensiveour money buy does…

This airport wants your money buy does not even try to make the experience nice for a weary traveller.
No seats unless you go in a shop in departure. seats hurt your back. No staff on passport on arrival, unfriendly unhelpful staff who are rude at Ai passport control.
Car parking fees are extortionate such that I think o would try any other airport than this one before using Newcastle again.
Disgraceful expensive and unfriendly.

A Very Unpleasant Place To Be!

A down-market airport tailored to only pander to the Ibiza crowd. There is very little free seating in the departure lounge, and loud raucous music blasts from every commercial outlet. The only seating available was in the areas sectioned off for bars and restaurants, where you need to clear a table of the detritus left by previous guests, pay for over priced food and drink, and where the noise is even worse. It is very difficult to hear airport announcements. Altogether an unpleasant experience.

The Best

I had tried to pre arrange passenger assistance with Loganair and arrival airport, Southampton. Loganair was unhelpful and told me their telephone numbers were the same as passengers and to keep trying. I tried all ways to contact Southampton Airport over three day period, without any success.
I arrived at the airport very nervous and directed to the assistance ldesk.

I need not have have worried at all.

I was greeted by Nino with a smile he was so calming and helpful and made me feel at ease. The waiting area is discreet and calming.
Mustafa came and escorted me through security, carrying my bag into a quiet calm area, ready to wait for boarding.

The whole team are lovely, calming and so pleasant.
Well done Newcastle International Airport.

Great airport with terrible baggage

Great little regional airport however it has the worst baggage handling for arriving flights and has done for sometime. Allow a good hour for bags to arrive.

I fly in 4 times per week for the last 5 years and they are yet to improve on this.

Wife had a 100ml of Coco Chanel perfume…

Wife had a 100ml of Coco Chanel perfume taken off her at security as they said there was something in it which shouldn't have been there. We asked for a second test to be done as it is a very expensive perfume and we were denied a second test. Some airport worker has just gained a very expensive bottle of scent. The ironic thing is, it was bought in duty free on our last visit to Newcastle Airport. When we spoke to someone in the duty free shop, she said the security do it all the time.

I'm appalled

I'm appalled! £60 fine for dropping off at the Hilton. The barrier didn't immediately lift when we approached it so we jumped out and our driver backed up and drove off. Less than 3 minutes. Wasn't parked in the yellow box or on red lines.

No help from the hotel (its airport land) No help from the airport. Appealed but they said there are plenty of notices all over the airport (hello ... i hadn't got to the airport).

No mention of an issue when I booked!

AIRPORT TAX!
