This Airport is an embarrassment to the North East.
International? That's a laugh. If you class being able to fly to Spain or Dubai as International then maybe so, but try to get to anywhere else on a direct flight then you are out of luck. However, then trying to get a connection to a major Airport is just about impossible as your only choice is BA to Heathrow and you need a second mortgage for that. No wonder International companies wont come to the North East if this is the best it can offer.
Then there are the exhorbitant drop off and parking charges, the rip off shops and bars, the appallingly slow security areas and the long queues at passport control when you return.
Overall the place has no redeeming qualities and is just a horrible start and end to your journey. That is of course if you can actually get to where you want to go from this joke of an Airport.
You are far better off travelling to Edinburgh where the parking is cheaper, many more direct flights and they are more often than not, cheaper than flying from Newcastle. Often overall costs are cheaper than flying from Newcastle.
Owners and Management of this debacle of an Airport should hang their heads in shame.

Small easy airport

Used NCL a few times now. A small simple airport, not overly massive like many other UK airports. Parking is easy and walkable to the terminal. This is my preferred airport as only 1 hour away.

Security was well organised

Security was well organised, the new scanners are amazing, staff were helpful and efficient,we went to the bar for a drink,it has recently been refurbished and senior staff were inspecting it, they should have sorted the service out, the card machine went off,so cash only, then I paid for 2 drinks, the cider was off, so I got a bottle, the member of staff tried to charge me for it ! The place soon emptied,

Closes down on Saturday afternoon

The strong point in this airport is the new security scanner which allow you to take much more liquids through the system. The retail experience is very limited to a duty free shop but the saturday afternoon closing times make me mad, everything closes down on a saturday afternoon, and yes I know there are fewer flights on saturday evening but if there is one the airport should be still a functioning airport. The shops, restaurants and lounges nearly all close down at around 4.30pm, lounge staff in theory are open to 5.30pm but the attitude of the staff of Aspire lounge to anyone who comes on Saturday afternoon is terrible and they make very clear they don't want you anywhere near them

Make and female using same toilets

We visited the airport today. We were very impressed with the new scanners which made things a lot less stressful and some nice changes too. However the toilet situation, male and female using the same toilets is a no no. This is unacceptable in an international airport.

Signage is appalling (and in some cases none existent). Car parks awful. To add to all of this I had booked assistance for when I landed in Newcastle. The stewardess on the plane said anybody needing assistance wait until everybody had got off the plane which I did only to then be told that the assistance had been and gone without me. Never using this airport again. Back to Manchester for us as it is a brilliant airport.

Food and beversges simply unaffordable

Food and beversges simply unaffordable, $13+ for a sausage roll, same for half a breakfast wrap, $8 for a substandard insipid lukewarm coffee.
Whatever happened to competition in the marketplace pride in what you do and value for money.
Toilets were fine.

Rude security staff…

I am disgusted by the appalling attitude & the way the security staff spoke to me. No signs to say the aisle was closed. Three staff looking available but obviously just waiting to finish up at 6pm. The young girl on security was unprofessional in her approach, demonstrated appalling inter-personal skills, shouted me down when I politely pointed out that the aisle wasn't cordoned off. This is the most confusing airport u have ever passed through - an embarrassment for any person entering the north-east.

Security is such a joke

Security is such a joke. Forst of all they have the new scanners on then they are off. Then u get buzzed just because you are missed off then some security person frisks you in places they should. The scanners foe people are a joke too sensitive one minute the next nothing. What a disgrace

Absolutely disgraceful

Absolutely disgraceful. Sat on the plane for over 25 minutes because they didn't have enough stairs for passengers to get off the plane. Felt like going out and buying a set for them! Supposedly spending millions on expanding to international. Can't even sort out domestic.

Disappointing Understaffed Airport

Our flight from Brisbane landed on time, 18.50 pm yesterday, but there was not enough staff to move the steps into place so we could alight. After waiting approximately 20 minutes we all left by the front doors.
We then waited close to 30 minutes for our luggage to be unloaded and come through the carousel.
When we left for Brisbane staff were pleasant but our flight was late leaving Newcastle.
Overall very disappointing.

An airfield from the 70'S, but with extra filfth and cost

Run down, unpleasant, smelly, overcrowded, and hyper-expensive parking, assuming you can find a space. If that is how you want to start a holiday then Newcastle has to be top of the list.
There are just so many negatives about this slum of an airport that it is well worth traveling further afield just to avoid. We live close-by but now use Leeds or Edinburgh.
It is notable that this is an unclaimed profile here on Trustpilot and that says a lot about how much the 'management' of Newcastle Airport care to hear about those unlucky enough to experience what is little better than a 1970's airfield.

Can someone please explain why…

Can someone please explain why Newcastle flights are so expensive. I have just been to Madeira. The difference in price between Newcastle and Manchester allowed us to have a night in a hotel on the way to and from Manchester with and still save about £100.
Literally minutes ago, on the internet, a weekend in Copenhagen for £159pp from Stanstead. The cheapest from Newcastle £450.
I do appreciate there can be variations in prices but not to this extent. Do they not know they are driving business away from the North East.

Brilliant staff support

We flew from Newcastle for the first time recently. The staff were friendly. We got through check in, security and passport control with ease. When we returned, we realised that we had (stupidly) forgotten to take a note of where we were parked (rookie error). The weather was horrendous, wind and torrential rain. We took the courtesy bus to where we thought we'd parked. After about an hour of searching and wet through a kindly staff member suggested we ask the bus driver. We did this, Andrew, the bus driver took us to the car park office where Sean looked at past videos to track our car. They were both amazing, helping us out when we were so wet, cold and miserable. We cannot thank them enough. They treated us with such kindness and good humour and cannot commend them enough. We were already impressed with Newcastle airport, but Andrew and Sean have helped considerably in making it our number one airport choice. Thank you Sean and Andrew. We have emailed customer feedback at the airport re same.

Shocking state of airport car parks

The airport parking here is extortionate. Prior to covid we used to pay around £37 for a weeks parking. It's now between £79 and £99.
As well as the parking being so expensive the car parks are an absolute disgrace.
We had to park near to stand 14 and it's like a wilderness. There's potholes, loose rocks, gravel and loads of weeds.
It's like derelict wasteland.
Shameful to have such shocking car parks.
They seem to have taken over all of the competition and you can't park anywhere nearby now at a reasonable rate.

Never waited so long for bags to be unloaded. Over 1 hour. The plane was is spitting distance of the baggie reclaim. Zero communication from the Swissport/airport staff about the delay.
Poor show. Will drive next time.
