Preparation Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from defective or poorly adhering material, dirt, grease, wax, and other contaminants. Thoroughly rub down using wet flatting methods where possible, then wipe with a damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid inhaling dust; wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding. Treat knots with a suitable knotting solution such as Ronseal's Knotting Pale. For new or bare wood, apply one coat of Armstead Trade Quick Dry Wood Primer Undercoat (two coats recommended for exterior use). Prime all bare metal with either Armstead Trade Red Oxide Metal Primer or Armstead Trade Metal Primer Zinc Phosphate. When applying water-based paints over conventional solvent-based coatings, ensure very thorough surface preparation. Take special precautions when preparing pre-1960s paint surfaces on wood and metal, as they may contain harmful lead. Application Always follow the manufacturers instructions found on the tin, it is recommended that a small test area is applied before painting the entire surface to ensure compatibility. Apply using a brush or roller only. Do not apply in temperatures below 8°C (as recommended by British Standard BS 6150). Avoid painting outdoors when there is a likelihood of rain, fog, or frost, as this will affect drying. Lightly dampen both the synthetic brush and the surface before application to improve flow and finish. Stir the paint thoroughly before use. Apply 1 or 2 coats of Armstead Trade Quick Dry Gloss as required. Newly painted doors and windows should not be closed tightly until the paint is fully dry. Thinning is not required. Aftercare & Storage Do not use or store in extremes of temperature and protect from frost. To prevent spillage, please store and transport upright.
