Very disappointed with my experience with NYIAD Landscape Design. Keep in mind that if you pay in full, you will not receive the full coursework until you complete specific units. I stopped at Unit 2... See more

While I have yet to complete the program, it is wonderful to have access to both my advisor and instructors. I am able to get my questions answered quickly and thoroughly.
Very good communication system
So far, I have been happy with the all steps regarding my registration and access to course on line. Course outline looks promising.
I would recommend them to everyone.

I loved the program and have launched a jewelry business. Challenging, rewarding and very useful information
Great course!
This has been an excellent training
This has been an excellent training. I enrolled in the Jewelry Design course. I am just shy of finishing my projects for graduation. The courses are very informative, detailed, comprehensive. We receive hard copy course materials, start-up supplies and tools, there is involved online coursework, audio teaching and video teaching along with online comprehension tests. I really love how we get our review through audio and actually hear our instructor's opinions and assistance as we go through each Unit. I loved the experience and would highly recommend NYIAD to anyone!
The course was comprehensive.
The course was comprehensive. My only issue was different designers were assigned to review your work. I found Inconsistencies in what they were saying. Some would give one kind of feedback and the next design reviewer would tell me something different. It was hard to know if I learned things correctly. Hope the school fixes this as I see it as a major drawback to online learning.
A really intense comprehensive course
A really intense comprehensive course. Masters level, I was very challenged and loved the whole thing. My mentor was awesome and provided valuable feedback.
NYIAD Home Staging Course
I love NYID's online course. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the video segments. The person doing the videos is a TERRIBLE speaker. She mumbles and she's incredibly boring, and awkward. Everything else is awesome.
Content is very good - feedback is lacking
Online coursework is evaluated in this review.
1. Content is detailed and varies appropriately between written material, videos to watch and projects to complete.
2. Some of the resources (apps, stores and other add-ons) are out of date and some are non-existent.
3. The mentor and evaluation feedback is sparse and often unclear. The handwriting is illegible.
4. Overall, even though this is an online class, I expected a more personal experience and much better feedback. I would have liked to hear from my mentor every so often and I expected to get more thorough explanations of my grades and suggestions for improvement. The evaluators don’t seem to be invested.
enjoyable!
very easy, understandable material. Ive been enjoying studying all the way
english subtitles or closed caption
One negative is no English subtitles or closed captions on any videos as I’m deaf person. Other than that great..
Interior Design Course NYIAD
I have thoroughly enjoyed taking my class through NYIAD. I am about 3/4 of the way through their Interior Design course. They provide an updated, thorough course in Interior Design and make it very easy to use. This is my first experience with distance education and I have been pleasantly surprised. I especially like the videos they do with professionals in the Interior Design business and the business oriented classes they mix in to the curriculum.
I'm glad that I took this course
I'm glad that I took this course. I've been working in the field for several years and needed to know some details, like how to measure a room, etc...However, I will say that the videos that "teach" you are quite outdated. I live in the South and I have to say that NO ONE here decorates with heavy ornate antiques and old school oversized furniture anymore. With that being said, I took it with a grain of salt and did my best to perform using those guidelines. I do wish that it would have been a little more modern and helpful for today's decorators.
Also, my "professor" was 75 years old and she reviewed activity that I did from her old school mentality. She would frequently send my assignments back to me to "re-do" when honestly, there was no point.
She retired midway through my journey and the new "professor" that was assigned to me was superb. She understood the process and was very forgiving on the "little errors" instead of making you re-do the entire project.
It took me 18 months to complete because the turn around time on projects being graded was 3-4 weeks. It was frustrating when trying to finish on a personal goal of 12 months.
You get what you pay for. All in all, I'm glad that I did it!
More than Plants and Trees!
I learned that Landscape Design includes a lot more than picking and planting flowers, shrubs, trees, and lawns!
One of the best
One of the best , I love this school . I recommend this school cassandra Day .
5 star
Well organized with great resources, Overall a great experience!
I am enjoying the course, however...
I am enjoying the course and learning a lot. I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in floral design.... however-
I see many typos (especially in unit 3).
Also- the videos are very hard to watch. I find myself drifting off or having to take a small break- the instructor has no energy, doesn’t smile, doesn’t seem happy to be teaching us. It would be more tolerable if the teacher/instructor was energetic, confident and motivated with a happy tone. It’s a very monotone, low energy vibe which I’m sure others would agree is very hard to follow along with.
Other than that, the course and website are pretty decent and easy to navigate.
