TL;DR:
I spent €850 on two pairs of glasses from Occhialando — both had lens issues. The latest pair was defective, used, and missing key features. Despite clear photo/video evidence, the seller refused to acknowledge the problem, denied a proper return under EU consumer law, and never sent a return label. They manipulated the PayPal process, threatened legal action over reviews, and continue gaslighting through public responses. This company creates friction to block refunds and keep your money. Avoid at all costs.
I’ve now purchased two pairs of glasses from Occhialando, spending a total of €850. Both had issues with the lenses, and the customer service experience has been appalling.
In the most recent order:
• The lenses were not original — they lacked the Oliver Peoples breath logo and anti-reflective coating.
• The frame made clicking noises, as if the lenses weren’t properly mounted.
• The case was damaged and appeared used, and there was no certificate of authenticity included.
I provided detailed photo and video evidence, but the seller refused to acknowledge the problem. Instead, they tried to reframe the return as a change of mind, even though this was clearly a case of a defective and non-conforming product.
Under EU consumer law (Directive 2011/83/EU), sellers must cover return shipping for defective items. Occhialando refused, demanded I pay the return cost, and never provided a shipping label. As a result, PayPal closed the case in their favor — not because they were right, but because they manipulated the process and refused to facilitate the return.
This is the second time I’ve had serious issues with their products. €850 later, I’ve been left with two substandard pairs of glasses and no support.
If you care about product authenticity, consumer rights, or basic professionalism — avoid this seller at all costs.
Update:
The seller continues to change their reply to this review in an attempt to manipulate and gaslight the situation. Do not be fooled. This is a company that does not support its customers, sells defective products, and openly admits that the item you receive may differ from what is shown on the product page.
To address their points:
• My case concerns non-conformity: the product was defective, used, and missing original features. This was reported to customer support on the same day the product was delivered. It is not a warranty issue, nor a right of withdrawal or change-of-mind case.
• The seller claims that a defect can only be established after inspection. However, in their own email dated 17 July 2025, they stated:
“If the issues you’ve noticed are different from what we’ve addressed, please feel free to send us a video and/or photos specifically showing those concerns. We will be happy to assist you accordingly.”
I sent videos and photos as requested, and they were completely ignored.
• They claim they never denied the right to return. Yet they have consistently refused my return under EU Consumer Law, instead trying to force it into a warranty claim or goodwill return without any protection for the buyer.
• On 28 August, they offered an “exception” to allow a 7-day return window — but refused to reopen the PayPal case so that I would have buyer protection. Given how they have behaved, it would be reckless to return the product with no third-party mediation.
• The seller repeatedly threatens reviewers with legal action for simply sharing their experience. This is deeply concerning and unethical.
Any reputable company would simply provide a €10 return shipping label for a clearly defective product — at their own cost and liability, as required by law. Instead, this company has gone out of its way to block the return, deny responsibility, and pressure the customer into silence.
This kind of behavior suggests their business model is to create maximum friction, keep your money, and leave you with a product you can’t return.
Do your research. Many reviewers report similar experiences — along with a suspicious number of fake-looking 5-star reviews.
Avoid.

"Worst service ever. I can’t believe how incompetent this company is. My sunglasses arrived destroyed, the box looked like it survived a tornado, and now the courier drama is endless. I’ve emailed, called, waited, and still nothing happens on time. Customer service is painfully slow, replies are robotic, and apparently, making a simple pickup is rocket science for them. It has now been 5 weeks since I purchased broken sunglasses, and I have still received neither the product nor a refund, even though I paid fairly at the time of purchase. Meanwhile, the item’s price on the website has dropped, meaning I’ve now overpaid for something I never received. After threatening them with legal action, they are now just sending a replacement product, apparently only to avoid returning my money. Do NOT order here unless you enjoy stress, broken products, and zero accountability. Absolutely unacceptable. Truly shocking."
