A NATIONAL TREASURE
Excellent business plan evident here. A remarkable dining venue and happily a full plate, not small portions as in 'fine dining'. Several menus available with a wide choice of dishes. The hygiene score is 5.
We went for Sunday lunch and found the stacked plates a culinary delight and I could not manage to eat the plateful. Our selection of meats, lamb and rare roast beef, were perfect and tasty.
The meal included, Yorkshire, roasties, wide range of lightly cooked vegetables, gravy of perfect consistency and stuffing. Could not have been better and not exceeded anywhere in East Devon. Seaton unfortunately suffers from 'amateur', rundown eateries along the other side of Harbour Road.
PARKING
Seafront pay and display nearby.
DISABLED ACCESS AND PARKING
Seaton is the best town in East Devon for Blue Badge parking. This is available 200m from the business.
WELCOME
Young lady, Freya, was all that could be wished for with a warm and cheerful welcome for each of the Sunday lunch guests. I had made a previous check visit a couple of days before and she personally took me around this remarkable venue. It is exactly as you might expect to see from its name. An old 'Laurel and Hardy' style black and white film was playing. She also showed me the original theatre area which is used as a gig venue or private hire for weddings and the like. What a delight the whole place is to visit.
Shay was our cheerful table waitress and she quickly showed us to our table and took our drinks and food orders. What a charming young, smiley, lady and obviously valued by the team leadership. Our table service was prompt, even with the place comfortably full.
Ambience is rich and dark and the temperature was comfortable with a blazing log fire adding a sparkle.
The menu choice is wide and the owner proudly claims; 'we are passionate about our food'. On offer is a comprehensive range with 7 STARTERS, 12 MAINS. Something for all tastes there but if you want to have a mouth-watering burger that can be had for just £15. What is there not to like?
Our top class Sunday Lunch was produced by an expert chef. Sadly we were too full to sample one of the enticing puddings from the range!
PRICE
Our impressively full plates cost just £16.50 for the lamb and £16 for the beef.

RECOMMENDATION TO OTHERS
This is such a fascinating good value, historical interest venue and certainly is a 'must visit' if you are in town.
