Great Products - Terrible Company
A product is ultimately only as good as the company behind it and I'm afraid Olympus are a shadow of the company they used to be. They hold no spares in the UK at all now and have a central service centre in (wait for it) Portugal. So when the one of the eyepiece rubbers came off my 6 month old binoculars and got lost, we were advised to 'send them to the UK Olympus depot in Nottingham, who would forward them on to Portugal'. And all for a £2 piece of rubber that I could fit in 5 seconds - if Olympus carried spares.
And the craziest thing of all? Olympus make a big thing about being a 'green' company and caring for the environment. That's right, having only one service centre for the whole of Europe, so that everything has to be freighted thousands of miles backwards and forwards is really looking after those icecaps!
Great company, equipment and service! Highly reccomended
The olympus micro 4/3 system has brought my love of photography back. I recently upgraded to the OMD-EM1 and when it came out of the box, there was one issue with a button not working. Having registered it on their website, the level of service that I received was 5* with swift responses to my emails, fast and free delivery to their repair centre and a guarantee to have it back to me with in 7 days.
Their equipment has the build quality better than any other camera I have owned (and thats quite a few) and the lenses are equal of not better, especially the pro range with the pull back collar to engage manual focus. I absolutely love my camera and lenses, and now i have had to use their repair service, I love the brand even more. Could not speak more highly about a system and would recommend it to anybody.
I only wish that they had tutorials and lessons available specifically for the micro 4/3 format so that performance can be optimised.
If you have read this far, thank you, but I only have one last point. The website would only receive 4* as there is not much there to make the user interact, but the overall experience with the company has been so good that they deserve a 5* rating.
mu 720 SW - great little item
bought one of these waterproof compact camera's and have been very pleased with it.
Also used to own it's predecessor which wouldn't accept a 1GB card. We phoned olympus UK and they said that we had an old version and only the latest version would take a 1GB card (our max. was 250MB).
They offered to upgrade the software free of charge if we sent it to them.
We also got to dial a proper telephone number and speak to someone who spoke english......great result.

I have a camera made by this company. It wasn't very expensive, so I don't expect any miracles from it. But it is nice and affordable gadget, which I really enjoy.
