Everyone involved in developing this app has no respect for anyone.

I'm actually going to crash out, this app is extremely frustrating and I genuinely want to throw my laptop out the window every single time I unfortunately have to use it. It's incredibly laggy. The eraser tool does not erase until like literally 6 seconds after waving your pen on the screen like an idiot. Do you know how embarrassing it is to use OneNote when trying to take notes in class? Astronomically. Because everyone can see that it's genuinely stupid. Another thing, when you try to write/draw on imported slides, give up hope. Every time you select a new pen and then try to draw, it will select the entire slide and move it, then take 9 seconds to move it back if you try. I have had to exercise buddhist-level patience with this app. Don't use it.

Stay away from ONE-NOTE

While transferring data to a new mobile, ONENOTE did not sync. Worse, it does not allow the data to be retrieved (Error message). I can see the note in my mobile but can't open it. The software offers to delete it (for free)! Absolute RUBBISH. The whole idea of using ONENOTE was that it stored in the cloud and you can retrieve it from anywhere. Now everything has gone into thin air.

Do not use one note

Imagine drawing a diagram, carefully crafting its existence. Now, imagine trying to make a small tweak, smoothing out a line. Of course, you miss. Pressing the undo button, your screen stares blankly at you like a confused llama. 10 seconds later, one note is apparently (Not responding). You then decide to use the eraser tool instead, clicking the eraser. Again, the wind whistles in the trees, but nothing changes on the screen. Minutes later, one note finally responds. Please, just use Microsoft Paint.

Another Microsoft failure.

It really looks like people at Microsoft are trying everything they can to push users away from OneNote and to Microsoft 360.
OneNote is currently close to unusable, with notes' status suddenly turning to "Read-only", zero searchability ability, etc.
It's amazing how massive companies like Microsoft cannot understand that allowing people to use one tiny (and old) software for free can draw them to upgrade to other (not free) software later.
OneNote should be free because they have put zero R&D effort in it for years, so it's basically paid for.
I am frankly fed up with this software and lucky I have an Obsidian subscription, so I'm moving all my important stuff to an encrypted Obsidian note.
Good riddance, OneNote.

As a cloud note taking tool

As a standalone note taking tool, it's fantastic. Awesome capabilities, for most of it well thought and easy to use...
BUT
if you don't store on OneDrive you'll get innumerable issues, from OneNote moving your notebook there behind your back to innumerable syncing issues
AND
when you've finally moved your notebook there and after several month seamless work, one day syncing issue again with almost no other option than to copy your sections (and sometimes down at pages level) one by one in a fresh notebook
FINALLY
when you want to get out of it and move your info out (e.g. importing in Obsidian or other) you face bandwidth limitations down to few kB/s (same for OneDrive by the way. So moving out is a pain in the *$#!
So my advice is don't get locked insidiously in that M$ ecosystem which looks very nice at first try but do not scale nor is stable over time, which is invaded with limited user control by Copilot AI, and which recently showed how it's under US political control (look at what happened to the head of International Criminal Court, which had all his Windows accounts suspended on a simple injunction of US executive power)
Or buy a standalone version out of Office365 - while it's still available - and use it locally...

Microsoft Office - A Data Disaster

Microsoft Office: A Data Disaster

I recently lost five years of crucial data while using Microsoft Office. It was a devastating experience that has left me feeling betrayed. The support team seemed completely unsurprised by my issue, as if this was a common occurrence. Their lack of empathy and urgency made it clear that they don't truly care about individual users.

I'm switching to Google Workspace immediately. Their reputation for reliability and customer service is far superior to Microsoft's.

Trash

Try to safe more then 3 words and the programm can`t handle it. Awful just use it to make small notes and even then there are far better options. Same goes for word.

Yeah. It’s bad.

There’s so much wrong with it. It doesn’t even deserve a paragraph or anything. It’s that bad and buggy. I’m surprised it doesn’t have ads.

Syncing will lose your data.

At first, I thought it was amazing. But after repeatedly losing an entire day's worth of notes several times theres no way that I can use it anymore. For some reason, Microsoft OneNote will regularly sync to its servers and then lose the entire day's updates. This is unacceptable. There are also lots of bugs and the app is noticeably slower than alternatives.

Kashish Doesn't Speak English and It Shows

I chatted with Kashish at 2:03 PM on 5/26 and she was the worst ever. She repeated back my problem incorrectly for almost an hour and kept making me explain the issue, yet kept misunderstanding me and responding with horrible grammar. She remotely controlled my computer to attempt to trouble shoot, but only clicked the same pages I clicked to confirm I really wasn't seeing my entire OneNote notebook missing from the application. Then she said she would transfer me to the Surface department since "this is clearly a Surface issue". I kept writing that it wasn't and she ignored me and transferred me. What a waste of time.

This is rubbish

This is rubbish. I did a whole day of essay planning and it didn't save. Not only that, but it didn't have the option to save. I would not recommend Onenote to anyone that needs to do anything important.

Perfect for facilitating virtual groups

I've been facilitating virtual groups through OneNote and it has worked brilliantly. I prep for the meeting by creating a tab for the session, and pages for the agenda items. I insert notes, blank diagrams, blank tables on those pages...anything I'm planning to fill in during the session. I bring up OneNote on my iPad, I share my Zoom screen with my iPad, and I have a virtual whiteboard where I can draw, circle, underline, crossout...anything I'm am facilitating. I also bring up the same "notebook" on my PC where I can type onto pages. OneNote syncs everything behind the scenes, so it as if I'm doing everything from one device. I love it.
