They don't know counting

Packaging was very weak, if you ask standart questions communication is good else communication is bad too. And also they do not know the counting... Some goods was arrived incomplete some was over. So you should think about twice before spending.. And one type of the component (~50 pcs Dsub connector) was arrived rusty.. It should be damped..

False Advertisement?

Long story short, my company had received a quote from onlinecomponents.com and they wouldn't stand by it. Their system was recognizing two parts as the "same component" even though their website reflected they had 1,410 in stock. They where very happy to cancel the said part I wanted and send me the alternative that was $12 more per piece, without offering any sort of other solutions or ownership for their mistake.

not looking to use their services in the future if I don't have to.

Hello, we are sorry about any confusion with the listing of this product; while we did have 2 different prices listed this was not an attempt to do anything unscrupulous, this was a simple error on our part with the unit of measure between the 2 listings. When we discovered this error we did our best to try to inform you. This part has 2 numbers for the same item, one of them is listed with the price per foot, while the other listing is the price per 4 ft length. Our inventory currently is all of the priced per length part, while you had ordered on the priced per foot part.

After reviewing how our service team informed you I can say that we did let you down and this was not explained clearly. We do apologize that it was not made clear as to what the case is and we completely understand how it left you feeling this way.

Please do understand that this never our intention. The part you ordered and the part that was offered was not a switch in the product, it is the same product but there was different pricing due to a different unit of measure between them. The reason price appeared higher was due to the 4' lengths at $12 vs 1' at $3 each. But know that ordering 100 of the $3 part would get you 100ft, while 100 of the $12 would get you 400 ft.

We do want to thank you for your feedback on this; as it has allowed us to get this corrected for the product series. Again I do want to apologize for the confusion that was caused for you on our end. I am will also have someone from our service team reach out to you offline to ensure this situation is fully taken care of for you.

The best shipping ever

The best shipping ever! I ordered 4 small switches. They were packed in a plastic tray, inside a bubble wrap bag, inside a small box. The small box was nested in air pillows inside a larger box. A raw egg would have survived shipping like this. I contrast this with a package I received from China a few days before. The Chinese shipper placed several metal parts, including 400mm long steel rods, in a plastic zipper bag inside of a plastic shipping bag. Yes, it arrived with holes in both bags and no metal rods. The Postal Workers of the world are not kind or gentle with our packages. Onlinecomponents.com charged a reasonable shipping rate and provided outstanding packaging. It is never a good deal if you don't actually receive what you ordered.

Ordering from them takes just too much effort

They emailed me with a Cyber Monday 5% off coupon. Unfortunately I could not get it to work for any of the items in my cart.

After a 30 minute online chat that went absolutely nowhere, it then took 5 rounds of email before it turned out that because they had previously sent me a price match on one single Aries item, this was now "glued" into their server (even though I wasn't clicking on the price quote link and was manually adding it by part#) and worse it prevented the 5% discount from applying to all the other unrelated items in my cart.

There was a second problem trying to add some Molex items. I've had this exact same issue previously with Online Components, namely wildly different min quantity across items in the same series. 09-50-3101, min order 1. The 9 pin in the same series, min 258. The 6 pin in the same series, min 449.

Previously I've had to email them to fix these cases, they fixed them but it simply takes too much time. It is better to stick to DigiKey, they're more expensive but there is way less run-around.

Received quote for item , ordered items and paid in full, now been charged extra delivery. Now Online components will not give me refund only online credit???

ordered items, items coming from multiple location and part back order. I selected ship multiple when item were available, which I paid extra for. was sent order confirmation from online components, and payment total inclusive of delivery. Paid in full.
only to have online components contact me a month later try to charge extra for delivery saying the item were a bit heavy.
This is not right.
you have already given them your delivery address, the items you want to order, and they reply with a order confirmation with a confirmed total, then to ask for more money after everything has been finalized and paid. this leave a very bad experience and I will not be using this service any more

Update.
Online components have now said they can not supply to good to the original quote and have canceled the order. they have initialized the refund and asked for account detail from us to refund the money. One, two weeks pass. No email from Online components, so I ask what is happening,. They said the refund has been process, and they have given us a store credit.
Store credit what?
and they even had the nerve to ask did you want to send your credit now.

Online components, you are a joke.

I see the refund for your order was processed on the 10/30 as our reps indicated. I apologize if you got the impression we were offering store credit. After the order was canceled you were very clear about getting a full refund and I see our reps moved that process along as quickly as they could.

I am checking with our accounting today to ensure you receive your money back.


Even though things did not work out, please believe our intent is always good and for the best results for our customers. The parts you ordered are large and often damaged in shipping. To ensure they are protected carriers charge a premium for transportation. The size of your order ended up being greater then what is covered by our flat rate shipping cost that was initially quoted. Once we had the weight of the order we reached out to correct the shipping cost. We acknowledge our error in not catching these details up front, and for that we are sorry.

It is also unfortunate that to transport these parts safely it is very costly to do so internationally, and we understand you wanted to cancel the order.

I am really sorry this happened at the time the parts were ready to ship instead of at the time you placed the order; we try very hard to have these details ready on our website at the time of order to avoid any revisions to freight costs.

We do regret we could not come to an agreement and we do feel bad how it turned out.

They seem ready AND able to get you…

They seem ready AND able to get you what you need, and for the most part, when you need it. And, believe it or not, some pretty good pricing as well. The website ordering is pretty simple, and it amazes me how well they were able to identify what I needed with scant info. I highly recommend, and will return often myself.
