Based in London, Orlebar Brown was founded by Adam Brown and launched in March 2007 as a tailored approach to men’s swim shorts. OB Classic swim shorts remain the original and best ‘short you can swim in’, offering something you can wear on the beach or by the pool, yet smart enough to wear to lunch or for a drink. All OB Classic swim shorts are guaranteed for five years for quality you can truly believe in. In 2010, they progressed from beach to resort with a full range of holiday clothes that can also be incorporated into everyday wardrobes, including polos, chinos and shirts. In addition, they offer a Design Your Own service which enables you to create your own bespoke pair of photographic swim shorts using the #SnapShorts app in-store or online. Orlebar Brown has grown into a global brand with an ever-increasing number of international stores, an enviable list of stockists and a burgeoning expansion into ready-to-wear. Today, the company is still directed by Adam Brown, as well as CEO Paul Donoghue.

Bought swim shorts last year for 245 euro in OB store at Ibiza. Worn two times (Ibiza and Caribbean). Salt leaving nasty stains on fabric. Never ever buy from this brand. Contacted them and won’t do anything. Sending my coupon for 20% discount. Are you kidding me? Never buy. Price quality totally not worth. Poor customer service. Its a pitty I can't upload a picture so you all can see the quality. You think you look cool on the beach, but you look horrible.

Hopeless returns process, and minimal support from OB. Followed the return process exactly as OB provided, and it was rejected by customs. OB seem not to know what the return process is for rest of world, and their forms don’t take this into account. Am now stuck with a shirt that doesn’t fit and don’t want waste money again sending it back to take a chance that the OB process may or may not work. The OB concierge doesn’t seem to know what to do either. Be very clear if you are not from EU or US on returning goods - OB doesn’t seem to take this into account.
£1,500 worth of goods NOT delivered by FedEx.
Having managed key W1 accounts for FedEx and UPS, I am aware of stipulation to deliver ONLY to named recipient and address.
Chased OB Concierge three times, no call back, no POD, no goods.

I have never had bad quality shorts like this. They have very good prints, but their quality and fit are not worth the money. I will not buy again.

I’ve ordered from Orlebar Brown many times and the service has always been excellent. I often order two sizes to make sure the fit is right, and there’s never been any issue with returns or refunds — they’re always handled quickly and efficiently.
It’s how online shopping should be: easy, reliable, and professional. Orlebar Brown really set the standard for how premium brands should treat their customers.

Most people are quick to speak up when they are upset but often stay silent when they are happy. I want to make a point to do the opposite here because my experience was truly exceptional.
I was nervous before ordering because I had come across some mixed reviews - the size I wanted was out of stock on Farfetch and the OB website didnt have "great" recent reviews. I was worried the shirt might not meet expectations or that the service could be lacking based on some of what I read.
I am genuinely happy to say everything went far better than I expected.
The linen shirt I ordered is absolutely beautiful. I have only worn it once so far, and several people asked me where it was from. It is simple, but there is something incredibly elegant and eye catching about it. It feels refined and stylish.
The quality of the fabric is excellent and the pricing is more than fair for the level of craftsmanship. It was also packaged beautifully. The sizing was spot on too. I really appreciated the measurements listed on the website because they helped me choose the perfect fit.
I placed my order and it shipped the very next day, which already put me at ease. There was a brief moment of panic when I saw the package was stuck at Roissy Charles de Gaulle. I have had a package get stuck there for over two months before it was eventually declared lost, so I was anxious. I reached out to customer service on every platform, probably too many times, but I was relieved when Christian from the team replied kindly.
Christian reassured me and made sure fedex had everything they needed to get the shipment moving. It arrived not long after, and I could not be more pleased. His kindness and professionalism really stood out and made me feel like a valued customer.
This has been a five star experience from start to finish. I am extremely happy with my purchase and will absolutely be buying again. Highly recommended.

I have a lot of their products and the quality is horrible. The products stain easily, I just threw one away yesterday, it was all yellow! You find a lot of similar products now, made also in Portugal for a fraction of the price. Never again for me
The worst quality to price ratio of anything I have ever bought. Please don’t fool for their lifetime guarantee nonsense, because it’s drivel. I bought a pair of £180 swim shorts and the pocket closure failed after two wears. I reported it under their ‘lifetime guarantee’ and they suggested me paying for a local tailor to fix them and they then reimbursing me on production of a receipt. Really?! Needless to say I didn’t bother. I’ve now got the shorts out for another wear and the press stud that buttons the waist has broken. All after three wears. The quality is absolute junk. The very worst type of company, peddling pound shop quality clothes for eye watering money. Never again.
Onto my 3rd pair of bulldogs and this time I chose a navy bulldog bonded pair. They look great but there is one glaringly massive flaw with the product.
THEY GET STAINED BY SUNSCREEN.
Absolutely crazy that this material gets stained by something that, let’s be real, is required when wearing them. No matter what I’ve tried, they still have white smudges all over them.
HORRIFIC and not for for purpose.
What a shame that the customer service has also divebombed and they don’t value loyal customers that have shopped with them since 2017.

As others have said, customer service has taken a nosedive. They’ve clearly outsourced it somewhere and now you get robotic poor service with a ‘computer says no’ attitude and level of care.
In 2019 I had a problem with a button on a pair of swimshorts no longer clipping well. Emailed OB about it, chap called Marc emailed me back, seemed very concerned I’d had an issue and after a back and forth, despite the shorts being a number of years old, had me send them back and mailed me a new pair, with apologies, no questions asked. Felt like he really cared about the customer and the product and wanted to make things right. Question of receipt didn’t even come up, they were OB, high quality and shouldn’t fail.
Fast forward to 2024/2025 I’ve now had two pairs of my OB shorts start to suffer from serious chlorine fade (despite OB stating on their website they’re rated to much higher levels than commercial swimming pools - rubbish). Contacted customer service hoping for another ‘Marc’ who’d be empathetic and concerned about such a manufacturing fault with their high quality product.
Nope.
You’d think I was contacting customer service at Amazon for the level of care and understanding I received. Not only did they take a while to even understand what I was explaining, they showed zero care and immediately asked if I had a receipt. Sadly I did not, having been a big OB fan over the years I’ve had pairs gifted to me or I’ve bought abroad in resorts etc. So that was the end of the conversation, refused to help me.
OB are no longer a luxury brand who care about their products, clearly farmed out their aftercare to save a few $. Absolutely not what I expected from OB and especially not at the price point they’re selling at.
Time to find a different brand, shame.
I imagine the response I’ll get to this review will be the same as others who have had the same issue - our policy strictly relies on proof of purchase or we don’t care. That’s fine if you’re selling cheap clothes at a corner shop, people who pay £2-300 for a pair of shorts expect top service, not further inconvenience when they’re already annoyed the product has failed.
I received 2 times a stained product! Now they don't even respond anymore! This company is not what it used to be at all...prices are crazy high now. Never again!

Several orders made, only some of items arrived. Payment was taken, however when speaking to their customer service they informed me the items were out of stock, yet they still charged me for them. Only offering a refund after chasing them up. Very disappointed with service and will not shop with them again.

Ordered stuff. Only half arrived, then nothing. When I emailed I was told the other stuff was out of stock - apparently a new system wasn’t working well.
The stuff is still showing on the website though? I like the clothes, but do I order and risk wasting my time chasing up again when nothing arrives.

I ordered two items and only received one. I queried this a week later, only to be told that one was out of stock and I would receive a refund (I assume they’d have just kept my money if I hadn’t asked). Determined to continue my Sisyphean task of buying an Orlebar Brown t-shirt, I asked how I would know which ones were in stock and was told that I should look for more than 1 available.
Apparently this due to a system migration. I appreciate the challenges, but the impact on the customer is absolutely unacceptable, especially when they now insist on sending me daily spam emails for items I may or may not be able to buy.
It’s a shame because I really like the one shirt I received, but the experience has put me off the brand permanently.

Atrocious experience trying to return an item. Just spent two hours on and off trying to get their bloody system to recognise the return. Crashed about 5 times. After an hour it said label generation failed. Had to email them, call their ‘concierge’ team, who were not able to help . Hopeless. Still don’t have a way to return the shirt. Next time I wouldn’t bother

Thanks to Christian at OB concierge for your support with my recent order. I appreciate how you rectified the situation. I won't hesitate to order again
I bought a shirt 6 months ago in size L. After the 1st wash (30°c no tumble dry) it shrank. I bought the same shirt in red 2 days ago in size XL because I really love the design. I wash it once and unfortunatly it shrank too and is now even smaller than the L...
Very disapointed

Clothes are usually good quality and fit really well.
Unfortunately OB ships only via FedEx which is absolutely useless (a 1.2 star carrier - seriously?). 2 out of 3 deliveries they don't even attempt, claiming recipient unavailable, and then wrong addresses, lost parcels, etc. OB couldn't be bothered.

Orlebar Brown have refused to replace a pull cord on a pair of swim shorts because I don't have a receipt. The cord has shrunk by at least half its length, but the shorts have not shrunk at all. The washing instructions where followed to the letter, I don't think you can offer a five year warranty requiring a proof of purchase as people do not keep receipts for that length of time. I think it should be enough that the shorts are Orlebar Brown. I don't want new shorts just the a new cord. Very disappointed. I have asked if I can have it replaced even at my cost and have been ignored, they said they can not help with out proof of purchase and they don’t have cords. I am very disappointed with concierge service, their products are very expensive and sold as premium product offering 5 year guarantee and good service, in my experience none of this is true or honoured. When I bought the shorts from the store, no one provided me with terms and conditions of the guarantee, I have been totally dismissed by the so called concierge service.

My favourite cut of shorts. Some great colours. Swim shorts tend to be more than the casual ones. Used to retail at the £100 mark in 2021, now near £200 in 2024. Had a pair of cotton twill shorts fell apart on the fly join after less than a dozen wears. As such vastly overpriced and flimsy.
