Don't buy Can-Do can openers

I bought 2 Can-Do can openers, one as a Christmas present and neither work as advertised. They are expensive manual can openers. The company wasn't interested in replacing them or reimbursing me, as I didn't buy them via Amazon. As I bought them on holiday I cannot return them to the shop.
