I've published six books with Outskirts Press and have been consistently pleased with their customer service and overall responsiveness to inquiries. I've always been involved in all aspects of the publishing process and kept apprised of timelines. They've always been great to work with.

I have called several times over the years and never hear back from this company. I stopped paying my annual dues because of this. According to my latest phone call to them, one has to leave a phone message and then expect an email back What a way to run a business. I hear from so many publishing companies except the one which actually published my book. What a way to run a business. Based on my experience, I would not recommend company for self-publishing.

When I chose Outskirts Press to publish my third book, I had high expectations. The website gave me many reasons to trust the company to do the best possible job. As I began, I hit setback after setback. I had difficulty understanding and following directions, perhaps due to my lack of technical expertise, and I had to submit my questions by email, and then wait for an answer that I needed at the moment. I would have preferred to talk with my coach by phone, but that was discouraged. As I proceeded through the publishing process, I was left in the dark regarding the specific details of my book such as layout, color of my cover, size of print - I would have liked to see a sample of what the finished product would look like. I felt left out of decision making, uninformed regarding the final product, and uncertain what was being done. The final book was satisfactory except for the cover. It was lack-luster and disappointing. I was not given the chance to view and critique it and to suggest changes. It appears to me that once I paid the fee to this company, they lost interest in me unless I bought additional services.

Outskirts Press is fantastic to work with. I’ve been with Outskirts Press for 15 years and every day, I work with a very dedicated and talented group of people. We all work towards making each author’s experience with Outskirts Press a positive one. Management treats me with respect, they show that they care about every person that works with them. As a small, family-owned business, there is a great deal of flexibility and opportunity to grow and learn. I look forward to continuing my career with Outskirts Press.

There are many self publishing companies out there. Stay away from this one. My copyright was never filed. I had to pay a fee each year. Stay away!
