when you purchase a subscription, it appears as "Pandanese.com Las Vegas" on your credit card. Whereas most companies have a simple way to cancel your subscription directly from the dashboard, there is no such button on the pandanese.com dashboard. Instead they provide a message "Your 'monthly $9' subscription has been active since February 27, 2025.
Want to change your price plan? Contact support team." with a link to an email. I have tried to cancel my subscription by writing them an email multiple times but they never respond. I have never encountered such a shady online business before.
It is a rip-off of WaniKani, but not as good. A lot of the mnemonics aren't very good, it seems like they rushed when they made this and really missed the point of what makes a good mnemonic.
The PANDANESE method and cards are truly fabulous. Even though learning Chinese requires lots of work, making sense of all the radicals and characters, and memorizing all of them with their meanings and reading, the cards are great, and the iterative strategy is perfect. Thank you immensely. Keep up the good work! It is really worthy of excellent appraisal.
This is a very fast and effective way to learn basic characters. The review process is what makes it so effective as well as the mnemonic selection of characters.
A+
Pandanese where have you been all my life?!
I'm English-Spanish bilingual, speak French, and now learning Chinese Mandarin (Beginner). I'm so glad I found Pandanese.
So far, for me, it's been 100% on point effective. It's a smart system, makes learning effortless and actually fun, and keeps me on track with my learning goals. Yeah, sure, I have to do the work, however, I look forward to every single learning and review opportunity.
I love how you can literally see and track your progress as you go which is just so amazing and gives me the boost I need to continue learning.
If you want to fast-track your Chinese Mandarin language learning (aka, got no time to waste, or want make the best use of your time), get the Pandanese trial offer, experience it yourself...and you decide ;).
Thanks Team Pandanese. I can't wait to see where you go from here. Adding a mobile app maybe? ;)
Have been on Pandanese for about 6 months and have learned thousands of new words.
Due to its repetition system, it helps to remember the words.
I would recomend Pandanese to everyone who wants to learn Chinese.
Can't go wrong with this! It's a great way to review and supplement Chinese study helps a lot with reading practice and even pronunciation. I was looking for a Chinese equivalent of the Wanikani service, and this is perfect :)
Using this with my friends in Singapore to develop the Chinese language..
I tried the first lesson, and found that it works! I really learned how to read the Chinese characters! This method of teaching/learning is affective and fun.
Of the different websites and softwares I have come across to help me better understand the characters, Pandanese is far away the best with consistency in writing and speaking. The flash card model only takes up 5-10 minutes of your time during any one sitting. Review happens over an increasingly longer period to help refresh your mind even months down the line.
What I would say makes this product great is the support team. They scheduled a one-on-one demo to show me features of the site and clarified any questions I had about what to expect from the product as I continue to use it. They have even been helpful when I use other software that is teaching me skills of reading and dialogue. The support team wants to see success from their clients and will go that extra mile even when they don’t see the direct benefit. That is a company that is doing business right.
In the future, I hope to see more support for traditional Mandarin and not just simplified, but it still serves its purpose effectively.
I really enjoy Pandanese. You can learn at your own pace, it works well and it's simple to use.
It has room for growth, it would be good to have a mobile app and a better UI to track progress of old lessons but it's more than functional and nice to use. I feel like I am progressing very fast and it's thanks to their system.
I love this app! The spaced review makes learning fun and easy! I highly recommend this app to learn Chinese characters.
I have been using Pandanese for 9 days now and so far I really enjoy the program. It’s the closest thing to a Chinese version of WaniKani although it is definitely at an earlier stage of development. I like the use of colors to designate the vocab, radicals, and characters as well as the spacing and ease to just use numbers for the tones instead of trying to fumble with accent marks. Some suggestions that I would think would make it better are:
-Possibly color coding (preferably) OR creating mnemonics for the tones since they are a super important part of the language and does need to be memorized.
-The quality of the pronunciation voice does the job but can definitely be improved.
-Some of the mnemonics don’t make the most sense and some of them don’t even have the word included in some way. Maybe create a 5-10 word title mnemonic that’s easy to stick and then have a few sentences to aid/supplement that main sentence.
-Having a separate traditional Characters version would be cool but I would focus on getting the simplified version down before beginning that.
Overall I liked it so far and do plan on continuing to use and upgrade, hopefully see it improve and grow as I work though it.
I wish i started learning chinese with this.
Very modern point of view on 'learning chinese'. This method is clever and super efficient.
For beginners with 3-5 new cards per day or intermediate with up to 12 new cards per day.
Everybody will be nicely challenged from day one.
Totally worth the money!!, I usually learn characters with my own Mnemonics and Anki cards but this site already has their own mnemonics plus they make you review it over and over until you learn it. I love it!
Pandanese's teaching methodology is truly engaging and has enabled me to consistently learn and review Chinese characters.
The sequence of radicals and characters is designed so that you gradually learn harder and harder concepts, by building upon and reinforcing simpler ones.
The learning experience isn't faultless though.Tthe spaced repetition system is good in principle, but it becomes a bit unfeasible as levels increase. It is common to find cards with faults, which hampers my learning. Nevertheless, I greatly enjoy learning Chinese with Pandanese and hope that the developers can keep on improving it.
I travel a lot and have never had problems in Europe with English. This winter I want to try China and South East Asia and I need to know at least the fundamentals.
What I liked in Pandanese is mostly learning method:
1. The correct ordering - first radicals, second characters, then vocabulary. So I can understand how the vocabulary is built up.
2. Space Repetition. I am forced to review items regularly and at the right pace.
3. Story mnemonic. I remember items and keep them in mind.
What I really miss is the mobile app. Perhaps, this for a reason, but I would definitely try it.
