Avoid unless you already know there will be no delay in your divorce

On the 15th July paid £950 on account and just received (8th April) a refund of £452.00, which I requested as this firm has charged me £246 (29th July), which I think was setting up the file and then £252.00 (13th December) for 2 emails (which they initiated) asking me if I wanted my money returned unless something is going to happen in the next month.

Had to wait four to five months for my pension details to be released, hence the delay. At no point was I advised by the solicitor that they have a time frame that they operate in. If I had known this in advance I would not have put money on account till I was certain of the timeframe of my case. In essence, I was charged £498.00 for absolutely no work that advanced my divorce.
Use with caution.

Dear Mr O'Sullivan,

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to understand you are unhappy with the charges relating to our email communications concerning the progress of your matter.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience or annoyance caused.

Under our regulatory obligations set out by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), we are required to ensure that we only hold client money where there is a valid and ongoing reason to do so. Where a matter becomes inactive or we do not receive instructions for a period of time, we are obliged to contact clients, to establish whether progress is being made, whether any assistance is required and whether they intend for us to continue holding funds on account.

The emails you refer to were therefore not only part of our responsibility to manage your case effectively, but also a requirement of the regulations we must follow. As with all work undertaken on a client’s matter, time spent corresponding / emailing — including efforts to obtain further instructions — is recorded and billed in line with our terms of engagement.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns and hope this explanation provides clarity.

Thank you.

Best wishes,
Client Services Team

AVOID this company at all costs

AVOID this company at all costs. Absolute scammers.
I enlisted their services in 2022 for a family civil matter, and they charged me approx £5000 initially, did absolutely no work at all, and then pulled out at a critical moment. I lost and got destroyed by the other side because of Parfitt Cresswell's lack of work, and then Parfitt Cresswell pulled out of the case at a critical moment leaving me completely exposed. Not only did they keep the initial £5,000 despite doing nothing, they also aggressively chased me for an extra £1640 and threatened me with bailiffs and court. I disputed that this money was ever owed to them, as they could not produce any documentation relating to what it was for or what work they did for any of the money I had paid other than "Chargeable hours". When I disputed it, they got heavier and sent debt collectors and threatened me with enforcement action and court. AVOID! DO NOT do business with these aggressive and unprofessional thieves. £7500 down the drain, and threats from enforcement officers, yet no work was done at all.

Appalling behaviour from Heidi…

Appalling behaviour from Heidi Shearman. She came unannounced to our dementia care home for a meeting that had not been prearranged, with one of our clients. She refused to provide ID and, just as surprisingly, her colleague Andrew Titmus, when contacted for verification, did not see anything wrong in this. She paced around in our reception area while we were finding out whether the client would agree to the meeting, obstructing staff and visitors and eventually had an outburst at the owner of the home who requested her to leave. Looking at other reviews on this site it seems that this company's reputation leaves much to be desired. Needless to say the firm is quite local to us and we shall be sharing our experience with other care home owners and stakeholders as we feel appropriate.

We are responding to the review dated 23 August 2024 from GHG. Please note that GHG is not our client, and neither is the care home mentioned in the review.

Dear GHG, We are sorry to read your post but thank you for taking the time to share your views. We take our responsibilities to our clients very seriously and whilst we cannot go into detail, because of our professional confidentiality obligations to our client, we have investigated the alleged incident carefully and have not found any evidence that supports the statements made in your post.

Don’t touch them with a barge pole

Used to be a good local solicitor in Sutton and Banstead and used by our family for many years
Nowadays following their change of ownership they don’t know their clients and you are just a cash cow to boost their billings
Avoid at all costs

Terrible service - poor customer experience

Been with this law firm for over a year where I have been given wrong advice. Raised a complaint internally which wasn’t handled. Thus, raised a complaint with the legal ombudsman and the SRA. It’s an absolute joke that thorough consultation internally wasn’t done to discuss my case in order to give it due care. I feel let down. Even after all of this, I did say I was open for management to give me a call. Nothing so far.
Would advise anyone and everyone considering this firm to take your business elsewhere.
