Very disappointed with how PayPal…

Very disappointed with how PayPal handled my dispute.

My case involved a flight that I could not take because I was medically repatriated before departure. Despite providing extensive documentation, PayPal closed the case in favor of the seller without properly addressing the issue of unused airport and government taxes.

The decision seemed to rely only on the “non-refundable ticket” argument, while ignoring the distinction between airfare and taxes linked to an unused flight.

I expected a more thorough review from a company supposed to protect buyers in complex situations. Unfortunately, the process felt automated and superficial.

A vendor charged 33% tax rate. A call to Pay Pal started the dispute.
The next morning, the charge to my checking account showed the corrected charge.

I would give PayPal 0 star. They support scammers. Last year I was charged subscription from a scammer while they advertised a CV form for only 45c and I agreed to pay only that amount. When I found out they secretly charged me for a month of subscription without my attention, PayPal supported them as they will never want to pay you money back. This time it overdrawn money from my bank account , leading to me to pay overdrawn fees. I am going to cancel it. The business is a big scam

DON'T USE PAYPAL

I've been a customer of PayPal for 14 years and they have really gone down hill, and are borderline fraudulent! I am deleting them! Long story short.... Tried to return an item which PayPal required me to return at my cost prior to receiving a refund. This was after many many hours & emails and trying to reach Casa & Beyond, which was the seller of the product I was trying to return. I returned the item by UPS to the address on the unopened package I received. I called PayPal after the tracking showed that they had received my package. I then called to ask about my $44.99 refund & was told they were basically declining the case! While disputing the case with Casa & Beyond, I happened to look at my PayPal account, which I hardly did because I always just used PayPal to charge transactions on my credit card...and never to transfer money or anything like that! When looking at my PayPal account I realized that in December, 2025 there was a deposited amount of $6,825 showing in my account. I was blown away that there wasn't any communication with me about this transaction, which I later found out was transferred to me in error. After much research and almost 5 months later, I refunded the money back to its rightful owner. This whole process seemed very risky & borderline fraudulent! Another reason for deleting PayPal!! Don't use them!!

Exasperating and endless customer service nightmares

Fraud is extremely difficult to block when PayPal takes money directly out of my bank account for unauthorized payments

I have been expected to provide evidence and invoices for a payment that I didn't create or authorize

Of course I don't have that kind of evidence when I didn't order for anything in the first place

Endless loops of useless questions to find help in topics that are very confusing at best

If you have the misfortune of actually speaking to a "real person" then they will have the enjoyment of your frustration as they send you around and around and around again

Over the years this online company has…

Over the years this online company has price-gouged money transactions and increased their verification process to create new accounts to such a degree it's frustrating and disgusting.

No wonder newer companies such as Cash App have become more popular than PayPal.

My suggestion is stay away from this company at all costs!

PayPal has failed to conduct a…

PayPal has failed to conduct a meaningful review of my documentation regarding unauthorized billing. I provided conclusive written evidence that the merchant was notified of the unauthorized activity months ago and failed to stop billing. PayPal’s claim that I received services is entirely unsubstantiated, as I have no active account, login history or digital delivery from this merchant.
As a loyal customer of 12 years, I expected PayPal to honor its Purchase Protection policy regarding unauthorized billing.
I am taking this complaint to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and my stated Attorney General office.

Buyer protection doesn't exist I had 2 transactions that was a scam PayPal refunded one and declined the other so proves a point they as bad as the people scamming I will close my account and use credit card in future at least they stick by you with problems unlike PayPal

Very poor customer service

Very poor customer service, tool 14 days to resolve a dispute...

They rejected it at first literally in minutes I kept adding data on around 5 subsequent occasions.

During this 14 day dispute they attempted to take money from my bank 3 times and my card once.

Felt like a weird scam, eventually I resolved the matter directly with the vendor, PayPal were zero help now I can't close my PayPal account, I will never use them again.

BUYER PROTECTION THAT DOESN’T EXIST

Dispute opened after a package was stolen by the delivery driver. PayPal closed my case in favour of the seller, based solely on tracking data provided by the suspected party — without examining any of the evidence I submitted!!
Case manually reopened by an agent, then closed again without explanation. Three formal complaints filed against PayPal for this unacceptable handling — no response whatsoever. Complete silence!

This is a disgrace for a platform that claims to protect its buyers. Years of loyalty, hundreds of transactions — and this is how they treat a customer who has lost both their package and their money: by ignoring their requests and siding with the guilty party.
"PayPal Buyer Protection" is an empty promise. Worth knowing before you use this service.

I have used PayPal for many years with no problems, however recently things have changed, they have made it very difficult to actually speak to an advisor! I bought an item of clothing and it never arrived, I opened a case, the seller claimed it was delivered, Royal Mail were at fault as the left it on the public lane almost quarter of a mile away from my property and provided a photo of the grass verge! ONLY THE SELLER CAN OPEN THE DISPUTE WITH THE DELIVERY COMPANY SO BEWARE! PayPal accepted it had been delivered despite not to my property and closed the case! That was actually illegal under the sale of goods act.

I lost approximately $569.81 to what appears to be a fraudulent online casino (Nowbet.live, billed as CoreCrafte Game Limited) after making multiple deposits through PayPal in late March 2026 (primarily on March 27, 2026).
After winning and requesting withdrawals, the casino blocked my account without explanation and has ignored all communications. PayPal only refunded $60 of the total amount.

Address listed on related sites: 8321 W Sahara Ste 1104, Las Vegas, NV 89117
I have attached screenshots of all PayPal transactions showing the payments to CoreCrafte Game Limited and the partial $60 refund.
This merchant accepted deposits for gambling but refused to process or honor withdrawals, which is a common deceptive practice. I request that the Division of Consumer Affairs investigate this business and assist in recovering the remaining funds if possible.
Desired outcome: Full refund of the remaining balance and any appropriate action against the merchant and/or payment processor.

Foreign support just wants to blame you.

The worst support of all time.

All you get are foreign agents who want to tell you that you have everything wrong. That it's the merchants fault, the banks fault and most of all it's your fault.

I spent 1 hour and 38 minutes wasting my time before they dropped my call.

Called again, got someone in America and they resolved my problem in 3 minutes.

I would say it's unfair to give a 1 star as I did get help eventually but anything more than 1 star would be too generous.

My tip is if you call and get someone not in America to just call again as you'll be wasting your time.

This is a disgusting platform. Do not sell digital goods using this platform. They may refund the buyer's money for no reasonable reason. The scammer will receive both the goods and their money. I have experienced this many times.

Awful experience, customer service is bad

Awful experience, called customer support to explain my situation. They said it would be handled they way I wanted to and yet the hit me with a negative balance. So instead of putting amount on PayPal credit as intended they had to shake me down and threaten me. I will be closing my account now and moving on. Do yourself a favor and avoid.

So i had an old account i hadn't used…

So i had an old account i hadn't used in 15 years. I needed paypal urgently so i tried to log in. It was asking me (forcing me) to verify with my phone number. That number no longer exists. So i created a new account with new email and new phone number. I got the email saying account is all good and ready to use etc... and so i deposited some money inside. Now i tried to access my new account and it needs verification. I have added my passport but then got banned. I am guessing because my details are the same like the old account which i can't access anymore. What am i supposed to do? The problem is there is literally no one to talk to. So i have money in the account sitting there i guess i lost it
