My PayPal account was permanently limited without a clear explanation, even though I only used it to receive legitimate freelance payments from Fiverr. I never engaged in suspicious activity, and the decision feels completely unfair and automated.
What is most frustrating is the lack of transparency. After trusting PayPal with my freelance income, my funds are now being held for up to 180 days, which can seriously affect freelancers who depend on timely payments.
I contacted support hoping for a proper human review and a clear explanation, but the process has been disappointing and stressful.
I strongly recommend that freelancers keep alternative payment methods available and avoid relying entirely on PayPal for their business income.

I get my work check from work deposited onto my PayPal account which I have a PayPal debit card for the day I got paid my debit card would not allow me to withdraw any money or use the ATM or use debit purchase I called several times about the issue they couldn't tell me why the card wouldn't work but the best thing to do would be to transfer the money so I did that but in doing so it cost me $18.55 in transaction fees I talked to somebody today this morning and they said they were refunding me the $18.55 and that I would see the credit on my account in 30 minutes I was yet to see the credit to my account I called back customer service and they have no notes or documentation regarding any of it and that I just have to wait for an email very poor customer service very poor everything

Despite me telling Paypal that I was disputing a payment, they STILL went ahead and processed the payment. Despite me disputing the same payment, their "investigation" consisted of asking the company a question and just accepting their answer and then closing the dispute. Extremely disappointing experience with PayPal.
My case was closed in the seller’s favor because PayPal claimed that my return tracking information was invalid, even though I provided proof that the item was returned.
I purchased a product that arrived broken and not as described. I submitted photos, returned the item, and provided tracking information. Despite this, PayPal closed the case against me without properly protecting me as a buyer.
This feels completely unfair and unacceptable. I expected PayPal to review the evidence carefully, but instead I was left without proper support and financially damaged.
I am requesting that PayPal manually review this case again, reopen it, and take responsibility for this unfair decision.

Honestly PayPal needs to do better. I sent a payment using my bank account on the 1st of May. Paiment was supposed to clear on the 6th. I called multiple time and was told paiment won’t until the 12 of May. So I proceeded to send a second paiment this time by debit card. As a soon as I did the first paiment cleared 2 hours later. Now the recipient has a duplicate paiment and I pray they refund me. Mind you PayPal could not cancel the second payment. I used the service 11 years but I am closing the account.

As a Business account, I am appalled by PayPal's lack of protection. A seller is demanding €160 outside the platform to fulfill a warranty on a €489 purchase. Despite providing proof of this extortion, PayPal support refused to open a dispute. Even worse, the support agent denied me access to the official Complaints Book (Livro de Reclamações), which is a serious violation of Portuguese Law (DL n.º 156/2005). I have escalated this case to the Bank of Portugal (Ref: PCB-RCO-1......). PayPal is no longer a secure environment for legitimate businesses.

I am a long‑time professional who trusted PayPal to handle my direct deposits from a legitimate employer, and they failed me in the most damaging way possible. For over a year and a half, PayPal accepted my deposits without any issue, never once requesting identification or suggesting that anything was wrong. Then, out of nowhere, they froze access to my own money and claimed they suddenly needed ID verification—something they never asked for at the beginning. This abrupt and unexplained change has caused severe financial harm, and it makes no sense that a company handling people’s livelihoods can operate with such inconsistency and disregard. I will write 10 million to ensure that customers understand I have a child with disability that I can not feed nor do I have money! I make 60K for a respectable company! It takes 10 days to get a new ID at the DMV.

Absolutely appalling company. Woke up to a 2am email about a passkey being set up on my account that I did not do. Unable to sign in despite scanning my UK passport, my face and verifying email address.

I have been a PayPal customer since 2009 and I use the app regularly every month to make payments. Despite this, my ability to use the “Pay in 3” option was suddenly disabled, even though I have no active installment plans or unpaid balances.
I contacted customer support and the response I received was honestly absurd: I was told that the decision is made entirely by an internal automated system that no human operator can review or override, and that I simply have to wait until next month and hope that “maybe” the issue resolves itself automatically.
I would also like to point out that I have always been a reliable customer and an excellent payer. Furthermore, some time ago PayPal heavily advertised their 24-month installment payment option to me, without clearly specifying any requirements or conditions for eligibility. When I actually tried to use that option for a purchase, it was denied as well, again without any real explanation. Customer support gave me the exact same answer: “it’s the automated system’s decision, just keep trying.”
I find it disgraceful that a company handling online payments and financial services relies entirely on automated systems without any meaningful human review, transparency, or consideration of a customer’s payment history and reliability.
After more than 15 years as a loyal customer, I expected much better treatment, and above all, greater clarity and respect toward customers who have always used the service responsibly.

Many times is the bank they use like Synchrony bank and Paypal is not able to solve it because they don't know that their bank is causing the issue. After paying 8 of my credit cards , my paypal and TJMax payments did not go thru. I went to my personal bank who stated there was not problem on their end. I went to stores which were able to process my debit card with not problems yet my Paypal stated my card was frozen. Next day, it processed my debit card without problems but TJmaxx still did not take . When I checked the reviews on paypal, I found countless of people being frustrated over my same issue of debit card being frozen and unable to take payment all dated in April . This is a severe problem because some people pay on their due date causing a late charge.

I forgot the password to my PayPal account and requested a password reset. Later, I remembered the password and logged in, but my account was temporarily limited. PayPal asked me to upload documents, so I submitted everything exactly as requested. After that, they permanently blocked my account.
I filed an appeal, but it was rejected. They said my account was somehow connected to “risk,” even though I had no transactions on the account at all. I still do not understand what risk they are referring to.
In my opinion, PayPal feels outdated and does not seem willing to improve or develop properly. I would not recommend opening an account there, because your funds can potentially be frozen for up to 180 days. Luckily, I did not have any money in my account.
