Poor Communication and Order Fulfillment

What a bunch of telephone tag. The communication with this company is painfully unproductive and order processing is slow. My order was in pending for a week before I felt that I needed to contact PC Canada about my order. when I did, I was emailed a generic email response to phone a representative. At this time they canceled my order and and wont tell me unless I phone in and leave a voicemail. I've never had to put in this much work to findout why this company can't process a one item order. PC Canada should rethink how they process orders because whatever is going on in the backend isn't working. Bad first experience and I don't think I'll bother coming back.

Hi Garrett,

I would like to first apologize for your shopping experience with us. It looks like this was a first-time buying experience and unfortunately there was miscommunication regarding our first-time verification process. According to our Order Acceptance Policy found under Terms & Conditions, “orders placed will be thoroughly researched before shipping, in accordance with the policies set by our Fraud Avoidance and Payment Services Departments.”

It appears that our customer service team was trying to verify this order and that is why the order was pending. Unfortunately, after some time, products may go out of stock and orders are canceled. Once again, I apologize for the miscommunication regarding our verification process.

I will take your feedback and pass it along to our customer and purchasing department to better improve the shopping experience.

Nice people, but impossible to order

TL;DR I would recommend to stay away.

Way too insane to order anything over $500. I cancelled my order of a 3080. The customer reps were very nice, but my order was flagged due to it being over $500 to a home address, also that I have a free email account and I don't own where I live. Apparantly my credit card company isn't reputable enough either. So I used the same credit card on the same gpu on Amazon. Would like to support a Canadian business, but they made it too difficult.

Also it's quite weird that there is PcCanada and this website which is Pc-Canada. They seem to be different companies and some people online have said this one is a portuguese company registered after the original pccanada with speculation of trying to use their good name/branding. That is speculation though I don't know for sure, but it all seems shady.

After they responded:
I didn't mention that they also wanted me to e-transfer the money instead.
I have many email addresses, but all of them are free. I even posted on nationwide PC building groups and all of replies I received thought the process was weird and sketchy. Also nobody that commented on my post uses these guys or they tried and had their purchase never delivered. This doesn't make a great user experience. However, maybe the general consumer isn't their market, I'm unsure. I can understand being cautious as a company around more expensive purchases, but $1k CAD is not a lot of money in the computer world, I truly don't understand how there is anything further than just a confirmation call that nobody ordered it using my information. There are many retailers willing to take my money for things that they can ship in an instant. It seems like they don't want my money.

It was also weird how the specific graphics card I wanted said they had 61 in stock in Richmond, but I received a call that said it was backordered. I don't understand this company, have very nice reps, but such a flawed system. I hope maybe they can improve, but I won't be purchasing in future unless a large change gets implemented.

Also after more research the company seems very sketchy from many users and websites online.

I would recommend to stay away.

Hi Mitch,

We are sorry to hear about your canceled order and shopping experience with us. We appreciate you wanting to support a Canadian business and thank you for the kind words regarding our customer reps. It’s true we take steps to verify first time customers, this is for the protection of the customer and PC-Canada.com. According to our Order Acceptance Policy found under Terms & Conditions, “orders placed will be thoroughly researched before shipping, in accordance with the policies set by our Fraud Avoidance and Payment Services Departments.”

Also included in the order confirmation email, under first time orders, it mentions: “If this is your first order with PC-Canada.com we may call you to confirm order details prior to processing your order. If you placed this order using Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, other “free mail” email you may be asked to provide a second emails address as part of this verification process.” These steps are taken to ensure the identity of the customer and are standard for first time customers. I would also like to clarify that we do accept North American Visa and MasterCard.

Once again, I would like to apologize for your shopping experience with us today and I hope this clarifies our payment process a bit more.

Pretty bad first experience

I placed an order for a computer monitor more than a month ago. While tracking the package I realized it got stuck in transit because of incomplete address info (which was fully provided from the moment I placed the order), so I tried to rectify that with the delivery company. They said the info needs to come from PC Canada, so I contacted them separately to confirm again my address. They said they'll look into it.

Cue weeks later, package still stuck, no one from PC Canada contacts me at all, I follow up with them just to learn that the package is going back to the warehouse (Vancouver - Montreal full trip).

I'm told they tried to contact me but I was unreachable. I don't have any phone calls from anyone, no voice mails, no emails, no text messages in more than 3 weeks. I mean, I was the one to first reach out to provide the confirmation of full address (if that was truly the issue)... I wonder what the alternative would have been if I hadn't done so.

I asked for a full refund and finally received my money back after a week, with several follow-ups.

It was my first time placing an order with them and definitely my last.

Hi Dora – Cristina Stancu,

First of all, I would like to apologize for your shopping experience with us and for the miscommunication with the shipping/refund process. I have consulted our purchasing & customer service teams for clarification and they have informed me of the following:

When your order was submitted, we processed the order and sent it for fulfilment. The address was fully provided by you when submitting the order, that is true. It seems during the shipping & handling, the address was cut off and it was incomplete. This could be for many reasons including character limits on the first address line or different processes between us and the shippers. I’m truly sorry this happened.

We appreciate you taking the initiative and contacting the delivery company to rectify the situation, unfortunately the delivery companies sometimes require us to provide the information. By the time we were made aware of the situation it was too late to redirect the package back to you and it returned to the shipping facility. At this point our customer service offered to resend the item to the verified address, but you requested a refund instead. This request was submitted to us on January 24th and we approved it on January 28th, after we confirmed that the replacement had not been shipped out. This is in-line with our Terms and Conditions which mention that it can take up to 10 days to refund orders.

I am glad that funds have been returned to you and again we apologize for the headache of trying to get your product in a timely manner. If you still have any questions, please contact our customer service department at orderinquiry@pc-canada.com

I wanted to order a unit (EACH) of…

I wanted to order a unit (EACH) of resin ink rollers on their site, 24 hours after my order, they increase the price of transport by 12 times (109.99$ instead of 8.99$) by claiming that the weight of a roll is 25 lbs, whereas it is obviously the weight of a box of 24 or 36. I contacted customer service about this, they wouldn't understand even though I sent pictures and videos of the roll.

Hi Francois,

I am sorry for your shopping experience with us and the confusion with the item you were trying to purchase. I took a look at the item and it was for a case of 24 Rolls. Under the description it mentioned the weight of one roll being 1lb, thus the automatic system assigned a shipping cost of $8.99. When processing the order, our customer service team noticed that it was 1lb per roll and not for the entire case of 24 rolls. The purchase was for the entire case which would’ve been at a weight of 25 lbs and thus increasing the shipping cost. I hope this clarifies the confusion regarding the updated shipping cost of the item/s.

This company is a real scam

This company is a real scam, and 1 star is not even worth of leaving a review but as a diligent buyer, I need to stress that whoever deals with this company will encounter a purchase with unethical doings from PC canada. First, they send you an email requesting additional verification processes and leaves a call back number. That number does not even work, and nobody can leave a voicemail, making me difficult to even get a hold of the company. Second, they request a non-free email address to verify my identity in order to approve my purchase. Third, they labeled my credit card as a fraud. I’ve never encountered this in my life, where a business requires doing all these steps to allow me to buy a $500 valued item. I wonder if it’s because of uncommon last name that could lead to that kind of corporate racism from the company but this does not hold. Usually, secure check out means that the business verifies information directly with my credit card company through secure encryptions. I don’t understand why PC canada wants to collect additional information, and it’s even more phony to ask for a non-free email address. Anyways, I don’t know if the company does that to all clients but online shoppers, be careful!

Hi Fanny,

I would like to sincerely apologize for your shopping experience with us and that the verification process was not as smooth as you hoped for. I can assure you that we are a legitimate reseller and have all ethical practices and policies. It is true that our first-time user verification process has a few steps. We try our best to communicate this to the customer in our Order Confirmation email that is sent to customers after they place an order. This statement in the email you received says:

“If this is your first order with PC-Canada.com we may call you to confirm your order details prior to processing your order. If you placed this order using a Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, other "free mail" email you may be asked to provide a second email address as part of this verification process.”

I understand that this is an extra step in the purchasing process, however we do it to protect the customer from a potential fraudulent purchase from being made. We only do this process with first time customers and is stated in our Terms and Conditions which can be found here (https://www.pc-canada.com/p/care/terms.asp).

Every once in a while, that process can take a little longer if the customer can’t be reached via phone call. That being said, I will look into our phone operating system to make sure that all of our lines are working properly and that customers are able to reach us. I apologize if you were unable to get through to us on the call back number that we provided.

I do hope this helps in clarifying our verification process. I apologize that this was not a smooth process for you.

Stay away, charge credit card and refuse to refund

Stay away, they deserve to go out of business. After I purchased online an item listed as 6 in stock on their website, almost a month later I follow up as my credit card was charged and no shipping confirmation was sent. Their generic customer service agent said that the item was no longer available. I said fine but please refund my credit card, 4 iterations later they are still insisting they never actually charged me. I ended up having to dispute the charge with my credit card to finally get a refund. They simply said “Oh sorry”, after wasting my time. If you value your time avoid these jerks.

Hi Patrick,

I would like to apologize for the shopping experience you had with PC-Canada.com, as it can be very frustrating to not receive your item. Our website implements a real time inventory tracker that is updated every 15 minutes. Occasionally, if it’s an in-demand product, those 15 minutes can be the difference between our site showing stock and then being backordered. It does not happen often, but when it does, we do our best to communicate the backorder to our customers, who then have the option to cancel their order or wait for the item to come back in stock. It is important to note that we do not charge payment until any order is shipped. When someone places an order for a backordered item, we place a pre-authorization on their credit card, which is what you may have seen on your credit card statement however no funds were removed from your account. We do this so that when the item is back in stock, we can package and ship the item to you in a timely manner.

I’d also like to briefly mention our Terms and Conditions that outline that when an order is placed, an automatic email is sent out indicating that we have received the order. This is not order confirmation rather a confirmation that we are processing the order. A confirmation email will come only after the item has shipped and this is also when the credit card is charged. We try our best to communicate our policies to our customers, however we understand that there is always room for improvement. We will take this experience and review back to our management team and work on communicating our policies more efficiently to our customers.

Buyer Beware !

Buyer Beware !
"Verification" to your work or private email appears to be a ruse to delay your order. This is handled by a "processor " who does not know about questions such as , is this a refurbished item ? Transfer to customer service was not answered. In the Meantime purchase price has gone up by > 130 dollars on the website. I thankfully got my order cancelled before shipping. I cant imagine what the hassle would be to cancel or return any product.

Return process is terrible!
One hour after placing the order on Jul 21 I contacted customer service to cancel the order as I realized the product I ordered was incorrect. I was told I couldn’t cancel the order, had to wait for it to be delivered, and then request a return-a complete waste of resources.
In any case, waited for it to be delivered (I give 2 stars only because the item arrived quickly) and I sent it back right away. PC received it on July 30 however I till have not received a refund because they said it takes 2-4 weeks from receipt to process…for this experience alone I would never again order from them, in case I needed to return something

At PC-Canada.com, we pride ourselves on our quick shipping and delivery time. After you placed your order with us, we got busy working away on your order and by the time you looked to cancel your order, our distribution center had already created a shipping label and shipped your item. I can appreciate your frustration though when you were hoping to return it. Unfortunately, it takes a bit of time to process the return, however, I have reached out to the representative that you were working with, and she has confirmed that we have processed the return. You should have received an email last week with more information. I apologize that we couldn’t have done it sooner. We appreciate your feedback and are working towards creating a more seamless return experience.

Raising prices after they get your order is common

Before ordering from PC Canada, I had read that they pull a scam where they advertise a decent price and then after you give them your credit card info and order it, they contact you saying the price has increased and ask you if you still want it. I thought, "that won't happen to me". Well, ordered on Friday, and just recently got the email saying my $1300 laptop is now miraculously $100 more. Too funny. Just as predicted. Clearly this their business model. So just be forewarned, this is not a rare occurence. They obviously do this on a regular basis.

Here is the core of their email to me:

"Due to market conditions beyond our control, the price of ############# has increased from $1292.99 to $1390
If you agree to the new price of $1390 please reply to this email stating you approve the price increase and want to proceed with your order. "

Hi Glenn,

I appreciate you leaving this review, as it provides us an opportunity to speak to our company practices and policies. It is our complete intention at PC-Canada.com to provide our customers with the best possible prices and to meet all of their tech needs. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a worldwide shortage and product constraint for a variety of tech products. Unfortunately, this shortage has resulted in a fluctuation in our prices as we cannot control the price that the manufacturer and distributor set. We truly make every effort to bring the lowest possible prices to our clients, however, there are conditions beyond our control, such as the manufacturer’s price that may cause the price to increase after the customer has placed an order. Additionally, for first time customers, such as yourself, we always run routine customer protection checks to verify that the purchase came from the credit card holder. This routine check is done for the protection of the customer and may take a few business days to complete if we cannot get a hold of the customer to verify the information. It is possible that during this routine check, the price of a product may fluctuate. This is something that we try to communicate in our Terms and Conditions, which can be found here: https://www.pc-canada.com/p/care/terms.asp. I apologize that this was your experience with PC-Canada.com and we hope to work on making it a better user experience for you in the future.

Hi Victor,
I am sorry that this was your experience shopping at PC-Canada.com. I looked into your order and have spoken with the Customer Service Representative that you were working with. We reached out to the manufacturer, and unfortunately they denied your request to return the item, as you have already opened it. I can appreciate how frustrating it is to receive a product that is not compatible with your product at home. We try our best to communicate our Return Policy as clearly as possible to prevent situations like this from happening. Our Customer Service Representatives are also available to assist customers before they purchase and can contact the manufacturer to check if the product is compatible with what you already have. Our Representatives are available from Monday-Friday 8:30-5pm EST, through our live online chat, or by phone at (800) 556-1971. I apologize for this inconvenience and we will work on ensuring our Return Policy is communicated more effectively on our website.
