Having sent in a question it was a surprise to get a phone call from Joe at Pedal Cover, he clearly explained how the company operated and went through the process quickly and thoroughly. The price was very competitive and the website easy to use.

I had to knock a star off for the price increase (wishful thinking that it might go down).
I have used Pedal Cover for a number of years. In that time I have only had to make one claim when all my bikes were stolen out of my garage. Within two weeks the claim was settled in full, no quibble just solutions.

Incredible helpful efficient and accommodating to my personal needs. Joe was brilliant.

Easy to use website. It was not 100% clear what I was buying as the title of the product didn’t link to the table of provision but but it was still a very competitive quote for a good cover product. Very happy.

It was good to speak to (a) a human (b) someone who knew what they were talking about without any script. There was a query the Underwriter need to consider which they did so and applied common sense rather than the machine said no solution.

DO NOT USE!!!
Unwilling to pay out, refuse to pay out on a bike that had been sent off for inspection (that's a joke in itself), only for Target, whom Im sure Pedalcover are in hand in glove with, to strip the bike, then find more issues (allegedly) with the bike than first thought, only for pedalcover Kien and Jonathan to recite numerous emails to me, all of them made zero sense! And all had different values attached to them. None of which covered the value the bike was insured for.
I have now had to accept a value for repair plus parts, to replace a bike that they can source parts for, but are unsure as to when they'll arrive or even if they'll be the correct parts and can colour match but it may take some time - what?? Weeks, Months, Years?? ....
For me to then tell them I don't want the bike repaired, it'll never be the same. Oh no no no...can't be doing that can we....Now the bike according to them is un-insurable because of failed parts they can't replace??
So when I had the bike bike from Target, it was horrendous!! parts thrown into a plastic bag covered in oil, parts that should not even be in a bag regardless, thrown in anyway and now not working!! and then took my expensive hope brakes apart, with no retainer added so the pistons are exposed to said oil in bag and recklessly left open to close without a retainer in there. A set of forks wrapped with the dropouts exposed and then literally thrown into a bike box with the minimal amount of care and attention it had when it was sent.
So Stay clear folks of them sending anything to Target for repair or inspection.
Followed by an email today from their loss adjusters after me complaining, with a cut & paste of the email Pedalcover had sent several versions of - with different values...
So take from this what you wish. I have been with Pedalcover for over 10 years!! no longer!!!
They are not the original company I went with years back who would pay out instantly.
They will do anything not to pay, and you'll receive several emails from either Kien or Jonathan with different amounts, and not much explanation as to how they come to it??
The original Pedalcover was fab! great set of guys, some of whom I knew personally. Not this lot!
Stay clear!
I fear the ombudsmen wont be much better.
Needless to say I now have no bike, thanks Pedalcover.
Thanks for all your hard earned work on behalf of my payment ;-) Well done you!
They have definitely been advised not to pay out!!
Stay clear, spend your money elsewhere.
shame there's no minus star's on trustpilot.

Raised a claim in good faith arising from an ugly incident where someone violently smashed up my bike. I bought insurance to help in times of need, clearly a time of need. I was treated by Pedal Cover throughout with clear distrust, and continuously made to feel like I was somehow trying to be deceitful.
As other negative reviews show, here we have a company dedicated to finding how not honour a claim.
Take for instance Kien who introduced me to the concept of 'calculate the quantum for the claim' - that's a concept of actively seeking the minimum quantity possible while holding uncertainty on any pay-out.
Or Jonathan, who repeatedly reverted to using a robotic tone to recite policy at me, while speaking over me. Who then stated 'we work behind policy', with behind being the key word, clearly exposing the company intent to use policy to avoid helping you.
They are however good at something, and I like to be fair, and that is justifying why they cannot honour a good faith claim while trying to still look just. See the following response from Pedal Cover as a perfect example of that.

Best bike coverage I’ve found in all my years as a cyclist

The people we talked to were extremely helpful and answered our questions perfectly. We are delighted to have found Pedal Cover insurance. It has provided very clearly explained, excellent cover as well as covering our bikes, at a very competitive price with other companies who wouldn't insure our bikes (individually or for anything like their value).
