Picked up our new motorhome yesterday and after a couple of issues that required fixing we took it home. Was an absolute pleasure to deal with Andrew who went above and beyond to rectify the issues. Thanks for the great service and hopefully see you soon to buy some more goodies for the van . Dave/Jackie

First time caravan purchase

From initial contact to the collection of my first caravan my experience has been a great one. Pre loved caravan is looking amazing thanks to the efforts of the valet team, and the time spent with Andrew at handover was very much appreciated,he covered everything in great detail for us novices. I know there are many people involved in the background, and I feel it's only right to acknowledge that and thank them for their efforts, I'd recommend Perthshire Caravans to anyone thinking about caravan ownership.

The Globecar and Rhythm vehicles that you were looking at were sitting in the 'await valet' area at the front of the showroom as they have just been traded in. If customers wish to view these vehicles we of course let them. There are 'Awaiting Prep' signs on the front of them.

Motorhomes and caravans get a full pre-delivery inspection where any repairs are carried out before they are handed over to the new owner. These vehicles have of course not yet been through workshop.

The Sales Executive you refer to was here yesterday and dealt with many customers. We are sorry if he was not available when you visited us for 30 minutes however we cannot predict footfall and the Sales team do their best to see to everyone that wishes to speak to them.

The member of reception team advises that you had stated you said you did not need to speak to Dave, so there seems to be conflicting views here.

Please be assured of our best intentions at all times.

Perthshire Caravans Think Twice!!

Ok so today I found out that just because they are Elddis dealers they will only do warranty work on your Elddis if you bought it from them. Lady told me no matter what dealership you go to they will tell you the same. Well thats no strictly true. If you buy private and it still has 5 or 6 years warranty who do you take it to.

I will suggest this: Anyone except Perthshire Caravans.
To the Boss of the above outfit
Do not bother replying damage is done
In reply to their reply
You can not even read a messsge properly. No need to reply
Your refusal to carry out warranty work has been noted and passed on throught the club. Hopefully your sales figures will make you have a rethink in future
Absolutely done

i said no need to reply.

Thanks for your comment. Warranty work is dealer subsidised and dealers of course need to give priority to those customers who have purchased from them. The motorhome and caravan industry is incredibly busy up and down the country for repairs at present. Erwin Hymer are able to find you a repair agent who can carry out your warranty work.

We are sorry you are unhappy. We sell Swift vehicles - and all other vehicles for that matter - at the RRP supplied to us by the manufacturer. The price of a vehicle south of the border is sometimes less owing to the lower transportation cost. Customers also have to travel backwards and forwards to the supplying dealer for any warranty work needing done (as this work is dealer subsidised) so that is not usually desirable for most people.

£70 for 30 seconds labour

Purchased a caravan of perthshire 13 months ago, my fault I broke the breakaway cable, but but since I was passing enroute to site I thought ideal get them to fit new one but after breaking the foot on my van they took it into workshop for few seconds I was charged £75 to supply and fit, think it’s an absolute disgrace charging £70 labour to clip a wire on a loop using a quick clip took me 30 seconds to remove and refit new, so if paying outrageous price is your thing perthshire caravan is the to go

BUYERS BEWARE

Would give 0 stars if I could BUYERS BEWARE, we had put a £1000 down on a 2016 Elddis Crusader Aurora advertised at £20,750 in Oct 2022, on viewing we picked up damp problem rear right hand side (inside wardrobe) and were advised this would go through the workshop to fix before collection (van would only come with 6 month warranty)

After hearing nothing from them having paid the deposit & van meant to be in workshop (with a call when ready) we chased this up early Jan 2023, we were told salesman Dylan had left but sale now being handled by another salesman- fair enough & van was supposedly ready - news to us!

However on inspecting the van on collectiom day the repair work was minimal & more to mask the problem rather than fix it with damp readings in this area still being 25+

We asked for the van to be repaired properly, so gave them another chance to remedy. Again we had to chase & chase for updates, with van supposedly repaired and ready for collection end Feb 2023.

We again went to collect 70 mile round trip each time - again van had not been properly repaired, just new sealant on top of old mouldy sealant outside rhs rear which is where water ingress had obviously caused dampness problem. Internal damp readings were still 25+

We had a quick quote for the repair from an expert in this line of work coming in at £1500 to properly address the root problem & adequately repair the van.

Looking at options we asked Perthshire Caravans if they would reduce the price by £1500 to reflect cost of repair, as on two occasions through their workshop the alleged repair work was substandard & ineffective & the salesman had indicated workshop would not look at doing more work on this van

Salesman said unlikely to reduce price to reflect the repair being done elsewhere but he would check & get back to us. We had chase up again after few days as hadn't heard anything.

Salesman advised no Perthshire Caravans would not look to reduce price to reflect necessary repair work & the caravan would get passed on to a trader as obviously the damp issue if any other customer picked up with 6 months warranty period would then need to come into their workshop - which they didn't want.

After nearly 5 months from viewing the van & paying £1000 deposit, 3 x 70 mile round trips, 2 chances to repair problem properly, Perthshire Caravans would not sell the van to us at a reduced price to reflect repair required (we offered to evidence cost of proper repair via 2 separate quotes from industry experts) but said they would only return deposit of £1000 (nice being in their bank for that length of time) and would only move the van on to a trader effectively removing the van from sale to us/the public

Of course we were disappointed as having thought we had secured a van we liked subject to repair of identified issue before collection - which they had agreed to do & had two chances to do - we had stopped looking at vans, however we do know at least 2 similar vans could have purchased elsewhere within the the 5 month window we had committed to the van at Perthshire Caravans.

Imagine our disgust at seeing the same van with the same problems up for sale on Perthshire Caravan website a day later (after the deposit was returned and supposedly they would only sell to a trader) at the reduced price of £20,250 - still a lot to pay for a van with known dampness issues which will cost circa £1500 to professionally repair (not commenting on the Perth Caravan workshop team but clearly they didn't have the industry skillset to properly repair or werent allocated the budget to do so)

Perthshire Caravans - lack of communication, inability to carry out adequate repairs, non existent customer service & lack of integrity. Buyers please beware - they are knowingly putting substandard van back on the forecourt for sale, which is concerning for any of their customers but also causing reputational damage to their dealership represented brands, who I imagine would also not be particularly happy with Perthshire Caravans sharp practice!

Dreadful customer service

My parents recently bought a new motor home costing £36+k. Problems during sale with staff not returning phone calls etc. First the awning and shower head broke, now the alarm is faulty, both within the first couple of months. Both times, my parents (85 and 79 years; my mum has dementia) were told to bring the van in then left to sit waiting all day for someone to look at it and not once offered a lift home. Today they had to call me, I had to leave work early and collect them and when I expressed my unhappiness to the staff I find that there is a courtesy lift service which no-one had bothered to offer them. After spending so much money, the customer service is appalling. Staff are disinterested, service is poor and even the vans are below the standard you'd expect from something brand new, especially at the price. Please don't buy from here.

Trustworthy company

I went to Perthshire Caravans on Tuesday 16th & Thursday 18th August to get advice on my tyres & gas for my motorhome.
I received an excellent response, care & sound advice from a technical employee & reception staff. They were so helpful.
I was able to buy gas & they fitted it for me. I was able to purchase a few items from the shop as well.
I would definitely have my motorhome serviced there as the employees have my complete confidence.

Do not buy from Perthshire Caravans

We went to Perthshire Caravans in October 2021 to view camper vans. We saw a AutoTrail 635 SE and liked it so, paid a deposit. We took delivery in late March 2022. So far so good. Then we noticed a few minor faults, missing screw caps, poor sealing in the shower, a loose connection on the rear view camera causing the camera to go on and off. Getting an appointment to remedy these issues became a struggle. They obviously are understaffed in the workshop. We said that as this need for a repair is nothing to do with us then Perthshire should give us a courtesy vehicle, they don’t have any. So we got a colleague to agree to gives us a lift from Aberdeen to Perth (80miles) and asked Perthshire to pay the fuel costs. Consumer Advice Scotland says “When you purchase a car or vehicle from a trader, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 states that it should be of satisfactory quality”. It patently was not. “ You can also ask the trader to repair the vehicle or provide you with a like for like replacement, they should do this within a reasonable period of time and without causing you any significant inconvenience or cost. ” So at this stage we asked for Perthshire Caravans to buy the van off us and my jaw dropped when they said how much they would pay. So we found another company (webuyanymotorcaravan.com) that treated us brilliantly and bought the van off us for a fair price with absolutely no hassle. My advice is to avoid Perthshire Caravans like the plague.

Avoid

Terrible service still waiting for a repair under warrantee after 2 bad yearly habitation checks and just keep being told they have no parts waiting on parts. Don't believe their sales patter and the after sales service is non existent.

Whilst on holiday with my moterhome I had a accident with the front cab roof light I returned to Perthshire Caravans to order a replacement and spoke to Kate about the replacement who was most helpful and contacted me the following day to say she had ordered it but couldn’t give me a delivery date on the window as it had to come from Germany,I contacted my insurance company to submit a claim for the damage and was told they would need images of the damage which was conveniently done by Marion and sent to my insurance company,Marion called me 3 weeks later to inform that the roof light had arrived but still not had the authorisation from my insurance company so I contacted them regarding the claim,On the day that the repair was authorised Marion contacted me to let me know she had the go ahead,I explained to Marion that I needed the repair done sooner than later as I needed the motorhome for the weekend she offered me the following day for the work to be carried out which I was delighted with,I don’t often write any reviews but in this case I thought it was only right to give credit to Kate and Marion for the customer service that I received in this case from them both.Kind Regards Mr McLean.
