I really wanted to keep these as they offer a lot of convenience, look great, feel well made, and had a nice propulsive but relaxing sound. Unfortunately they just had too much obvious background hiss, on both pairs I tried at home. It was especially noticeable through the HDMI ARC (for the TV) and Bluetooth. Optical was better (tried with both TV and a streamer) but you could still notice it in quiet / silent sections. You can also hear the hiss starting and stopping as the speakers muted output between incoming signals. This was sat about six feet away - not a desktop setting. To clarify too - they were plugged straight in to a socket, and I've used other powered speakers in the same syseltem with no hiss. ie not a set up problem. Maybe just unlucky with the versions sent. Really shame as, again, they were otherwise great.
