Rubbish Passport Photo service

Have taken a photo for a passport. However, when entering the code on the Government website, it indicates that the code is not recognized. Photo me says wait 72 hours for the photo to be updated! 3 days! When we need to order our passport.

Photo me service is pure crap customer…

Photo me service is pure crap customer service, they take money from you and when have a problem they can’t be contacted. They make sure you can only chat or text them, no telephone communications at all. Any online services that does not offer telephone contact this is a strategy used to extort money, blame from their customers. They may get millions of paying customers but how many unsatisfied customers who did not get their photos etc. I could not attained my photo due the code given. I tried in vain to contact them by texting only options the chat text option was completely useless the person running rings round me instead of listening to me of what I need and direct me, it be easier to just spend 2mins on the phone to tell me how to fix. All their communications contacts are a total fake. It’s better to do business in a shop or store at least you can see or visit on your queries. These company are nothing short of shady companies to grow their money pot. A large company they claim to be but yet their customer service and communications services is very poor (0) rate. Do better! and provide a contact telephone number for those who are not able to text to wider community that you are not concerned about. Only the money you can generate out of people. I I don’t call that a successful, it’s complete disgrace to treat paying customers when out trying to help them on their queries buying your products.

However, I did not give on my quest to find a knowledge kind person and it was someone nemed Lucy. She was extremely helpful and did not try run rings round me. I was grateful that I was able to use the digital photos and get on with the business. Customer care has gone out of fashion for some organisation but it’s key in having a good relationship with customer of all types.

Well done to Lucy, she got it! Photo-me should take note instead of being ugly to customers.

Went to dry my clothes and used card reader on machine. Initially asked for me to enter card and when I did it took amount from card but didn't give me any drying time. Repeated process and found I have been charged twice to dry my clothes

Absolute scam

Absolute scam, DO NOT USE. Charged me £10 AFTER i'd already taken the photos - and it's impossible to get digital versions. I DON'T NEED PRINTED VERSIONS!!!!!!!! How dare you charge customers £10 and then not even give them access to digital downloads of their photos.

Needed photos for a passport…

Needed photos for a passport application.

The booth in question appeared to offer the photo with a passport code. ideal or so I thought. It requested i should align may eyes to the screen and when ready press for the picture.

Picture was delivered on the machine but without passport code.

Tried to call them on the 0800 number. But on calling it advised to go to the help desk and then hung up.
Could not discuss this with anybody.

There customer service is appalling

Be careful and try another company

Avoid – very difficult to download. Twice as expensive as advertised. Shame on you.

Shame we can't give a minus rating.

The website gives the booths near you, which is convenient to enable us to avoid these locations and get a different provider in future. It advertises as £5. The Photo-Me named booth we used was a set £10.

We needed passport STYLE photos but NOT for a passport. We spent ages trying to work out how to simply download our paid for photos. All it says on the website is apply for a passport.

We ended up googling numerous links to find out how to get our photos. There isn’t a simple “Download my photo with my code” option on their own website! It appears you must start an application for a passport, whether you want one or not, to access your own photo.

Trouble is, people only discover this ONCE THEY’VE PAID and WASTED SO MUCH TIME on this. We only knew it was OK to flick through the GOV passport application pages rather than reading every little detail until we got to the photo page because someone had kindly taken the time to put instructions onto a separate panel! Shame on you Photo-Me.

Not as advertised, cowboy photo booths

Doesn't provide the digital ID photos as advertised.

Uses stock replies in email customer service, and here on TrustPilot to accuse the customer of being the one at fault for any problem. Refuses to listen after being told time and time again that the booths are misleading, it's always apparently the customers fault, and never their own fault.

They do offer a refund, but I fear many others have been ripped off who didn't bother filling out the form, or didn't know about it. Sadly in the UK in 2025 there is little recourse against these kind of cowboy companies.

The TrustPilot reviews speak for themselves here. No amount of blaming your customers for being at fault is going to reassure anybody that this is all OK business practice. I'm pretty sure the staff posting those responses don't even believe that.

Have written to my MP, but given it's "only a tenner", I'm not sure how seriously it will be taken. But somebody has got to take a stand against this kind of horrible business practice, regardless of transaction value.

Not even 1 star

Not even 1 star. You shouldn’t be able to advertise a digital photo and then not provide a digital photo. It even says ‘guaranteed digital photo’ on the print out. How have they got away with this?! Shouldn’t some kind of watchdog be overseeing this! Clearly customers all feel the same! Must be something we can do? I will look to contact watchdog.

can not retieve digital photo from code

I used the photo-me booth at the Trafford Centre and paid a tenner for a digital photo. i did get the unique code for the digital, but there is no way to retrieve the digital version of the pictures. You can only use this code for UK Passport and not for yourself, which is disappointing. This was not made clear to me.

I can not see the logic/business advantage for not allowing user to download their own picture that they have paid for. It just makes users have a bad experience. Feels like I have been scammed.

Terrible service and impossible to speak to anyone

I needed a photo for a visa application. Selected the box for visas and passports expecting to be able to input email address at the end. However the photo simply comes out with an idpass code to get your photo. 24 hours later the site is still saying code not recognised. I tried seeking help via their web site which says it may take up to 72 hours to upload photo. I can't wait that long. Tried ringing their customer service number and simply got a message telling me to visit the website without even the option of leaving a message. Website also says you can't even request a refund for 72 hours. There is no mention of a delay on the scree when you purchase the service.

Me group website is mainly aimed at automated laundries and it's clear that the photo-me booths are a sideline.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Paid £4 and got no photos out of their machine.
I had to put in a Visa Dispute with my bankers to get my money back.
They make it VERY difficult to get a refund.

Don't use their machines, you've been warned.

Oh no, not Photo-Me!

It would be great to say something positive, however, I wanted to award Photo-Me no stars, but it isn't possible to do that. I wasted hours trying to get support. I suppose the harder they make it, the less likely people will be to pursue a refund.
Photo-Me passport photo code didn't work on application. Help lines are not answered apart from providing you with online support/chat line that is closed when it's supposed to be open. I would recommend the WhatsApp support approach although they are slow to respond. I should have read customer's reviews first.
I will hopefully get my refund soon.

Code didn't work

Code didn't work. Well after 72 hours and well before the 30 day GDPR deletion date. It seems they just take your money and leave you to spend time trying to sort it all out.
