I've worked for Piers Meadows for years and they used to be the best agency. Gemma really cared about matching you with the right job, she took time to get to know me and promptly sorted out issues etc. Unfortunately they were taken over by Total Assist in April 25 and since then, its just been headache after headache. They made up random tax codes, paid me wrong or a
late. The compliance and payroll were just so dumb to deal with, and they just blamed other people in the company, when I rang to sort it out. I take well paid long term contracts, so they make a lot of money from relatively little work, but they still didn't care about the basics. Its a real shame from what they were.
1-star review – Disappointing and unresponsive agency
Note: For clarity, this review relates to Piers Meadows Recruitment Limited (company number 04760233, per UK Companies House as of 19 November 2025; operating as Meadows Recruitment).
* Registered in June 2025: promptly supplied full CV, references, and confirmation I was open to any suitable band/role.
* During the following five+ months, despite numerous follow-up emails and repeated clarification of availability, I received no job opportunities and no proactive contact from the allocated recruitment consultant.
* I therefore escalated to the manager of recruitment consultants, requesting a change of consultant; the reply offered explanations that did not reflect actual correspondence; no further action appeared to have been taken.
* Eventually, I submitted a formal GDPR erasure request, as there appeared to be no ongoing recruitment purpose, only potential data-risk in remaining registered with Meadows Recruitment.
* Summary: zero placements, zero meaningful account management, significant candidate time, effort, and hopes wasted.
As a healthcare professional seeking agency work, I cannot recommend Meadows Recruitment. Avoid if you are looking for an active, communicative agency.
I have had a wonderful experience working with Piers Meadows and more specifically, Laura Mejías.
Laura made me feel like I was her one and only responsibility in the way that she was always there for me to brainstorm with, she gave me regular feedback, help to reassure me when things felt overwhelming and provided me with a range of vacancies to apply for. She was brilliant at following up with the various stakeholders, managing expectations, and doing all that she could to get the best outcome for me personally as well as professionally.
I would, 120%, recommend Laura at Piers Meadows to any international professional looking to relocate to the UK, she is exceptional!
I would recommend Peirs Meadow recruitment agency and Angus Ferguson. In this age of deteriorating customer service and dreadful locum agencies around, This agency is one who dont look at Locums just as numbers and they are interested in placing you in a right contract. The only con is that the manager Mr Alex Meadows is quite non-negotiable when it comes pay rates which are not that competitive as compared to other agencies. One star taken off for the same.
I had a fantastic experience with Piers Meadows recruitment. Rachel Douse was always available and very helpful and responsive. I’d definitely recommend them for any AHP/ OT locum roles.
I feel very lucky to have Jake Margetts as my Consultant. He has been very approachable, and really worked hard. I will most definitely be sticking with Piers Meadows. It is not my first time to use their services and definitely wont be the last. Thanks to Jake for making it a smooth journey.
My experience working for Piers Meadows Recruitment was great as they were very helpful . Without this agency I would have struggled finding a job . I am very grateful for the opportunity they gave me.
I was very fortunate to have Gemma Gordon as my agent. Over the past month that I have had the opportunity to work with her she has been extremely persistent, professional, fantastically reassuring and very kind.
I cannot imagine approaching any other agent in the future and highly recommend her to anyone looking for their next career move.
Piers Meadows are very professional and friendly agency.
Rachel is one of the team members at Piers Meadows, she has always given a 100% when assisting me with questions or dealing with enquiries.
She always responds if I send an email and I like the way she sends a courtesy email or telephone call to see if I am OK with in my work role.
Piers Meadows helped me with finding work in a hospital setting as a BD3.
I am with a lovley team, full of lovley people who made me feel very welcomed.
I would recommend Piers Meadows to any one who would like to work as a locum. The team at Piers Meadows all work very hard from the manager to the recruiter, they all strive to assist you.
Thank you Piers Meadows.
Anisah has been brilliant in finding my first Occupational Therapy locum work, she is attentive, honest and open. Within 2 weeks she has found me an OT Stroke Community role, which i have since started. She is highly organised and super efficient in answering any queries and concerns. Thank you Anisah hope to continue with Piers Meadows for the foreseeable future.
I have such professional help from Anisah at Piers Meadows to find Physiotherapy work. Anisah could not help me enough and the whole process was smooth and easy. She made a real effort to listen to what kind of physio work I was after and kept in good contact with me from start to finish. Other members of staff who I had to interact with were also very helpful and efficient.
I would highly recommend Piers Meadows as an agency to anyone looking for health recruitment in the United Kingdom. I dealt with a few members of the team, though more frequently Angus who was a pleasure to deal with and highly proactive in finding me work from the onset. To note, once I signed with Piers Meadows it was the last time I dealt with any other agency; they genuinely had my best interests at heart. Cheers Angus and Piers Meadows for a job well done!
I would highly recommend Piers Meadows Recruitment agency. I can’t even begin to explain how amazing Gemma Gordon was as a consultant.
I was extremely stressed last October, I had graduated in Ireland and trying to figure out how to relocate to the UK seemed impossible. I was in contact with 4/5 different agencies but I felt like I was getting nowhere and any of the jobs they were suggesting I wasn’t interested in. Thankfully Gemma got in contact. She was so professional, friendly, supportive and put me at ease straight away. She made the whole process so straight forward and found me amazing posts to start my Occupational Therapy career. She listened to exactly what I wanted and was so proactive in finding positions as well as checking in with me to see how I was getting on when I started new assignments. If I ever had any problems (which were rare) I would contact Gemma and she sorted them immediately. It also was lovely to never be worried about an end date of an assignment as I was confident Gemma would find me another amazing post (which she always did).
I would also like to thank the payroll team too, in particular Raymond Aherne as he was amazing at chasing up any payment issues—these issues were rare they were mostly in the first week of assignments for setting me up on the hospitals payroll systems- but Ray always ensured I was paid correctly and on time.
The only reason I’m finishing up with this agency is due to securing a permanent Occupational Therapy post. I know if ever I want to do agency in the future Piers Meadows is the only one I would contact.

As I have come to the end of my period of work under Piers Meadows due to gaining a permanent physiotherapy position, I would like to thank them for such an outstanding service. I am so greateful for how efficiently I was placed in a locum position and commend them on their liaison skills. In particular I would like to thank Angus Ferguson, my recruitment consultant, who was polite, attentive and helpful. I will be sure to look for work through Piers Meadows should I require locum work in the future.
I have recently started my job search through agencies.I have found My consultant Gemma Gordon extremely helpful.Although we are still on way to job hunting but I have talked to Gemma almost 10 days back. From that day till now I have found her very professional and hardworking she updates me on daily basis and she always knows whom she is talking and what the other person needs just like not other consultants who talk to you and then forget .She is brilliant and keeps me hopeful in my search.Outstanding work I really recommend this agency to anyone.
I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank you for all your hard work and help in the placement of my first role in the UK, as a paediatric speech and language therapist. Working through Piers Meadows has been my first experience with a recruitment agency and it has been a great and seamless experience from the get-go.
In particular, I would like to thank Kester Mullan (who has been my consultant), for his hard work in making sure everything is always in place. I have found him to be an attentive and empathetic consultant and very knowledgeable in our field. I appreciate his support in recommendations for future opportunities to help further my career, as well as making sure that everything in my current position is handled in a timely and efficient manner. He is extremely personable and always so obliging in accommodating any practicalities that need to be completed.
Thank you for all your help Piers Meadows and Kester!
Currently employed with Piers Meadows recruitment. The experience has been extremely positive! From day 1 have found they have listened really well to meet what I was after. Found the agent Ross Webber to be very enthusiastic and proactive in finding great positions. Would definitely recommend!
I worked for Piers Meadows Recruitment for just under 8 years. I had all the good reasons to work for this firm including the close relationship with the management and colleagues as well as the fair treatment and reward for hard work.
The management have strong ethical views on employment related issues. They are focused and work hard to make improvements for the services the firm provides and to maintain training of recruitment representatives. The management and the recruitment team are agile and not scared of adopting new ways of working when faced with challenges from the NHS organisations. The director, Piers listens to his staff and always encourages them to suggest improvements.
When it comes to finding work for locums, the recruitment team's passion is second to none. They take even trivial complaints seriously and they constantly discuss between themselves to resolve any assignment related issues.
I personally had a great time with my colleagues, but also my career at Piers Meadows Recruitment has provided a solid platform to move onto my current role now.
Lovely family company. Excellent commission structure and fun nurturing culture. I worked here for 3 years and learned a great deal as well as making some life long friends?
They don't return repeated phonecalls, they don't return repeated emails, they ignore you - and all this since a change in staff in April 2017. This is how they reward you after giving them 7 years of repeat locum business. That's a lot of commission they have earned off placing me in a job. The only job they did give me, in 2017, i felt pressured and made to feel guilty - the consultant never listened once to what my needs were. So in the end ii turned it down - which must have really peeved them. So if you like this kind of attitude then by all means-go with this company. They used to be good but not now.
